I don't see a problem with Livingston shot at all. If that makes someone mad they are just looking for something to fight about. Come on .....get real!
He should have taken the 24 second violation. If that shot would have went in they still would still be separating the players. Further more if that shot went in and I would have pushed my Cav’s plus 12 bet I would be on suicide watch. It was hard enough wrapping my head around it when GS went up by 12 in OT

I suspect that if Cleveland was winning and one of its players had the ball as Livingston did he would have done the same thing. Letting the shot clock run out prior to the expiration of the shot clock simply to turn possession of the ball over to the other team makes no sense at all.
If the facts were the game clock would expire prior to a shot clock violation then by all means hold/dribble the ball until the game clock expires without shooting.
This issue should be made a poll and asked of current and former NBA players. What percentage would vote to shoot the ball before the shot clock expires and what percentage would vote to let the shot clock expire and turn the ball over to the opposing team?
I also expect that any player with competitive fire in him (i.e., James) who stole a pass and had a clear path down court for a slam dunk when it's team is leading by 15 points with 26 seconds to play would not choose to not slam dunk the ball and instead hold on to it until the shot clock expires. Same thing if he was being defended on the play and could posterize an opposing player (i.e. any of the GS All Stars).
You let the shot clock expire and then Cleveland inbounds the ball and hands the ball to the ref IMO and everyone walks off the court and shakes hands

Exactly Mark....who cares. Do you really think the players give a sh*t what the spread is.
To players it is about competition and doing what you are trained to do.
If a team has a 40 point lead with 5 minutes left in the game should the team in the lead not shoot when it has possession of the ball and simply run out the shot clock?
If, so why even wait for the shot clock to expire?
Instead have a rule that if a 40 point lead is present with 5 minutes to go in the game the team in the lead gets no offensive possessions at all. The team that is losing gets the ball over and over again until the lead is cut to 5. If the lead is cut to 5 then the team in the lead gets to play offense again.
I suspect that third string players who get on the court only in garbage time would not like this rule.
There was 4 seconds left in the game. Unless the NBA installed a 10 point basket recently that Cleveland could have shot at its all meaningless. The competition was over. FYI Kevin it’s not a big deal to me but that’s how I would have rolled by handing the ball to the ref.

Kevin and everyone else, you guys are stuck on unreasonable thinking for professional players, your scenario isn't what they do. I have seen many, many times where the 24 second clock goes off, the ball is given to the Ref, the other Team in bounds and the players stand there as time expires, exactly as Mark has stated. the whole reason for the ending as it was is BECAUSE Livingston took the shot.
it may not figure into the rest of the series, but that is just the sort of thing that motivates a Team, they remember stuff like that. it's called being "shown up" and is what all the BS with Curry, Thompson and Green was all about. what really fascinated me about the ending and the tuff guy stuff at the end is that Draymond Green backed away from Triston Thompson. Green puts out that he's a badass but when push comes to shove he backed off cause he knew he was gonna get his lunch handed to him, ala knuckle sandwich. watch the replay, it's absurd.
the take away is that these two Teams have history and already don't like each other. agree with me or not, Golden State was beaten at home in regulation time except for the mental lapse of one player, the JR Smith play. the way they acted at the end of overtime looked like they forgot that they need to play some games in Cleveland. the Warriors may sweep in four games, who knows, but pro-Teams try to avoid giving their competition any extra incentive. I would imagine Coach Kerr is reminding Livingston of that, despite what he said in the postgame interview. that's all fluff for the fans and media.

Lebron should have been upset about a few things as the entire Cavs Team should be along with anyone who feels that rules should be adhered to. the Refs clearly made some bad calls and used a bogus review to alter the game. in effect, they cheated. even Dimeman admitted that Lebron wasn't in the restricted zone. that being the case and since the Ref responsible for the paint area made a clear, immediate and decisive ruling, the play was not reviewable under the NBA rules.
my hope for tonight is twofold --- I hope the Refs call a clean game where there aren't calls which favor either Team, and I hope there is no carry-over from the way Game 1 ended. leave the bad blood where it is and play basketball should be the Mantra of both Teams.

James did get fouled by Curry on the no call play that resulted in a turnover and a technical on the Cleveland coach. Play Thompson collided with Curry and pushed Curry in front of James who fell out of bounds. Nothing intentional, but a foul that was not called.
When Curry drives to the basket he many times is hit or pushed by defenders. Many times he gets no call.

Cleveland did a lot of bad things yesterday. one that really had me shouting at the TV was their insistence on trying for "put-backs" off of offensive rebounds. Love, Thompson and Nance all tried to get to the hoop from a bad position surrounded by 2-3 Warriors. they did it over and over again instead of getting the ball outside with a fresh clock and open players. for his own part, Lebron tried again and again to get someone, anyone into a rhythm by passing instead of shooting. he had 13 assists as it was and easily could have had 20; there comes a time when the others need to make their shots. I kept waiting for him to say "the hell with it" and just play isolation but by that time it was the 4th quarter and the game got out of hand.
there were guys who just took bad shots. Jordan Clarkson is useless, JR Smith can't seem to make any mid-range shot to save his life, Kevin Love looks like he's not really interested in playing, Jose Calderon is one of the best defenders but can't seem to get any time in any rotation despite playing regularly and very well in the first half of the season.
it's sort of comical to say that Cleveland smoked the Warriors from the free throw line by shooting 77%!!!!! are you kidding me, Golden State shot 62% from the free throw line and 57% from the field.
how often do you see something like that happen?? playing in Cleveland should be good.
If you're holding out hope that Curry starts missing more threes I wouldn't bank on it. He's arguably one of the best shooters of all time,if not the best, and all of these amazing shots he hits aren't hail mary heaves, he actually practices these types of shots just like Lebron practices shots like his game winning one handed bank shot versus Toronto. Curry took 26 shots last night with 17 from three and the more he takes the greater likelihood that they fall for him. How many of these amazing threes has he hit in just the two games so far? At least 5 or 6 already. Sure he could hit a cold streak at some point but i wouldn't count on it. His whole legacy has been built on being able to repeatedly hit spirit crushing threes from pretty much anywhere inside half court. He's 14 of 28 from three in two games which is pretty incredible.

I guess they're still around, not at all sure, but the Harlem Globetrotters used to amaze the crowd with "trick shots" of sorts that were easier to make with no pressure at all, than what Curry does under competitive pressure. It truly is remarkable.
Sure he practices, but I'm also sure that Curry has some sort of innate instinct for the basket that perhaps not even he fully understands.

He had one of the best NBA three point shooters of all time teaching him how to shoot from a young age and by this point its all just second nature with him. I can just imagine what hitting a few of his crazy threes does for his confidence,he can get on a hot streak real quick.
