I need a card of Stan Musial. I like to have at least one card of the greatest players. Been looking, but just haven't found it yet. That's a really nice Wheaties Photo you have there. Congrats from me also.
Love the Yogi. Went to a local card show today. Nothing for my 1960 PSA 8 set. Nothing for my 1954 mid grade set. A wise person mentioned being focused and sticking to a budget. Well, I ignored my focus and went a bit over budget. Shame on me.
Today marks the culmination of a project that commenced over four years ago. 79T FB has always been and will forever be my jam, so I was bound and determined long ago to piece together the best possible rack box I could. The 24th and, therefore, most elusive rack was one with the Payton/Campbell RL card showing on top. Prior to last week, I had seen a grand total of two since 2013. Each time I was viciously blown to smithereens by an even heftier s-bomb. The third stab proved to be the ultimate charm, as I finally walked away victorious for less than half of what I was willing to pay the first time one appeared on the open market. (Note: Do not ever end listings on a Friday night.) Very clean specimen, no loader ding dongs on the money card, and a bonus nugget with a third famer hugging the header. Couldn't have asked for a better ending.
I've been out of town working for the last few weeks. I haven't bought much lately but the 61 Spahn AS is one I've been looking for for a while. It completes my PSA 9 1961 Topps All Star subset. It also completes my 1960s All Star subsets.

Incredible rack and box. Just out of curiosity, are you going to remove the price stickers off the racks that have them?

many thanks gents, it was a fun odyssey
Brian - i'm a sucker for character features that enhance the provenance factor, so to answer your question, definitely remaining affixed. besides the Payton rack i have two others with the original price sticker, and i wish they all did!
have some new pick-ups from a rummage sale.. the are not cards though, I got a box of hockey and sports mags- 50 mags for $30
heres a few scans of some of them - they date from 1961-1974 the collection
I love the 1925 Exhibit Gehrig and that's definitely his rookie but as a whole I'm not much of an Exhibit fan. So other than Exhibits and strip cards the next Gehrig cards are the '27 York Caramels and the '28 ice cream cards (Harrington's, Sweetman, Yuengling's, Tharp's). Only 14 total graded of these Tharp's (7 in PSA and 7 in SGC). I'm happy with my meager PSA 1. The late-20s Gehrig cards don't seem to get much love from the hobby.
Who doesn't love some sweet Lou? After nabbing a beautiful 'poor' copy last month, I splurged on a nicer one. I know they're not altogether impossible to find but I haven't seen many nicer and had to pull the trigger...
Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?
Get er done! As the cable guy would say. Just one card short of finishing the Johnny Unitas basic set. Just need a 1974 Unitas. My set is number 9 on the registry. This Unitas RC came in the mail last week.
No way! That's as cool as anything in the thread! Great color, great set, great player! He's part of of a rare baseball oddity; Ted Williams won two Triple Crown's - '42 and '47. He was the MVP in neither season, losing in 1947 to Joe DiMaggio and in 1942 to Joe Gordon. If you think it's crazy that a Triple Crown winner didn't win MVP, its actually happened one other time when Lou Gehrig lost out on the MVP to Carl Hubbell way back in 1933.

Ted Williams also didn't win the MVP in 1941 when he hit .406, losing to DiMaggio, who had a 56 game hitting streak.
Williams even had a higher batting avg. than DiMaggio during his 56 game hitting streak.
Hard to outhit a guy who got at least one hit for 56 straight games, but Ted did it.

The Garbage Pail Kids Pack collection above is cooler than all that which has been cool before. Just dig things like that, the smaller collections in total. SFS, possible to post just a pick of that GPK pack lot so I can steal it for saving ?
Few small pickups. These Goodwin dog cards are cool!

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.
I just love finding vintage graded cards for 20 bucks or less, and in the last year, I realized that this where I get the most satisfaction out of card collecting. No worries about falling prices or any other such headaches. It's just plain old fun for me. Case in point are these two. The Carew was on consignment at my LCS (i.e., local card shop) for 10 bucks. The 57 Reese was an eBay find for 20 bucks.
It's been a great year for my Dallas Cowboys collection, but this is the icing on the cake. I thought after the big price spike last year this one was going to be permanently out of reach. Very fortunate and thankful to get this one. Thankful for an understanding wife as well...
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
Nice eye on that Magic pack! I often don't get to rip all the packs I want to from Steve because there's stars showing. It's a nice problem to have.
That Banks is lights out! If there isn't something that doesn't show up in the scan you have to be thinking about cracking and resubmitting until it lands in a 10 holder. It looks perfect, congrats.
I reembered ripping packs in '96. Back then it was all about Eddie George and Eric Moulds but this guy ended up making good. I always liked the Pinnacle dufex cards. The Trophy is a pop 4 and the Artist's Proof is a pop 1.

i just got my first mexican football card...now got to scan it to post it
The true Yogi rookie. PSA doesn't grade these. SGC has only graded 29 and there are only 5 higher.

Nothing more satisfying to me than upgrading a card in my sets. Got this fella today, adding to my '52 set. Doug
That's a beauty of a 6. The color and white borders make it look like it came out of a pack yesterday. Nice pickup.

I would strangle a toddler for the 79 rack box.
galaxy27, Congrats on the Football rack box. Very impressive.
I didn't have a Stan Musial card and I didn't have any Red Heart cards, so I killed 2 birds with one stone.

Love that football rack box.
Much like TheMick's Musial, I wanted a Cobb red portrait and a T213 so two birds with one stone. My budget only allows for the Black & Decker version.

A lot of nice cards posted so far this month. That is one of the better centered Red Heart Musial cards.

Damn. I just picked up the latest Beckett Vintage Collector for $9.99. That's an amazing deal for magazines you got there.

Just picked up this card. Centering is not ideal but the price was right and I've always wanted this card.
I don't own one yet so this looks as good as new to me. Congrats on the Charlie Hustle!

Just arrived from PSA today.
Very nice pickups Ralph.
Very lucky to get a shot at really nice copies of some wackys that are pretty tough to find in high grade...
Just got these back from PSA. Is it safe to assume it is a pretty tough back to back Gem Mint on this card?
Any type of premium for selling these together?

Indy, those are two great looking cards for the grade and for a great price. Congrats.

Wow that Staubach rocks big time. Congrats. The centering is crazy good for that card. Well done.
Awesome Staubach!! Congrats!
Bought this pack a while back from BBCE to rip. Noticed it had a Magic Johnson on the back so sent to PSA for grading and just got it back today.
Picked this up from PWCC the other night at a great price.
**It is as much of a beaut in hand!!! **
