Wow... you guys are killing me..... Fan-freakin'-tastic......I need to hit the store twice a day....I know other's are checking the machine... as I stated earlier, I saw a manager scoop out some change....Cheers, RickO
Seriously though..... someone start a poll and another thread asking if anyone has ever 'checked' a coin star machine. Because, to date, I still haven't looked in one, or used one, for that matter.
I 'check' the coinstar machines whenever I go to the market or Walmart...and I know many people do as well... I related here when I saw a market manager scoop up some change and pocket it... Cheers, RickO
This is a great thread!
Over the years I have found your typical pre'65 Washies,Roosies and Mercs like many of you have.
Also found some cool pmd's and a 2017-P Roosie struck on a thin planchet.
Some of the super markets I visit have a Red Box kiosk several feet away.
So if I see somebody using the coinstar machine I'll walk over to the Red Box and pretend to be looking through the movie selection until they leave. So far this has worked pretty good.Older folks
don't seem to be bothered with the rejection slot but younger ones do.
1951-S Roosie , 2 state quarters stuck together by decayed rubber band, 2 clad dimes , 1 zincoln and a 5 euro cent coin today. Biggest find in a while.
Proud recipient of the coveted "You Suck Award" (9/3/10).
While I continue to come up empty at Coinstar machines, I am developing a new appreciation for Mah Jong.................. my wife had already been bringing home her change for me to look thru for ATB quarters (none from 2018 yet!) after her weekly games, but today I found a 1964 silver dime in her stash!! And not too long ago, both she and my Mother-In-Law each found a silver quarter for me in their Mah Jong winnings! (ALMOST makes up for their on-going losses..................)
30c Canadian
an Angel token, the likes of which was discussed on the forum recently.
a 1983 Chuck E Cheese token
a dime.
Later on when I photograph them, I will discuss the rejected by the coin machine and turned into the credit union teller finds from last week that were OMG finds.
Tir nam beann, nan gleann, s'nan gaisgeach ~ Saorstat Albanaich a nis!
When you switch to a different store than you normally would go to...not for better food, not for better products, not for better selection...but mainly to check out a different Coinstar machine to see if you can get lucky with that one.
You guys are killing it... and I find nothing but an empty reject slot... Well, at least I get to read about some neat finds... and it shows there is still silver out there... Cheers, RickO
Anybody know if there's a little electronic device that could be glued on and placed hidden unnoticed in the reject bin, whereby if there's any silver or gold in there, it sends out a signal to a device at home, whereby you can be alerted and then quickly rush over to the store and scoop out the treasure?
Instead of my home grocery store, I had to visit one of its sister stores (four miles away) last night. Needed to take advantage of a stock-up special on 2 Liter sodas. I Found six dimes, one nickel, and eight one cents in the Coinstar reject slot. All common late date U.S. Coins. At least it broke a Coinstar drought of sorts.
I think i hear a silver quarter in the Coinstar reject bin calling me. Then again, i must be going crazy believing that coins can somehow communicate with human beings. LOL
I walked by the Coinstar as I was leaving the store and noticed a pile in the reject slot. There was no silver but I got an even $2.00 and a Canadian dime.

Some great hauls found recently ..... except by me.... really must be a lot of check out clerks keeping an eye on the coinstar here....Cheers, RickO
Me to...Except for a few Euro coins I found a few weeks ago, it's been dry as a bone for months.
Found 4 dimes (no silver) in the reject slot at the coin machine (not coinstar - but it takes 9% of what you drop in for service charge) at my local Publix store. I just eased up, plucked them out and held them in my hand until I got to the car, knowing there was silver there, but, there wasn't.
My current drought continues... this has been a long dry spell.... If I discount the one dime I found a week or so ago, it is going on a month since any significant retrievals. Oh well.. Today is a new day.... 'Deal' said the losers... Cheers, RickO
That is a lot more exciting than what I found....NOTHING!!! Oh well, finds are special, and not guaranteed, so no complaints. Just happy when there is something. Cheers, RickO
That is amazing... great find. Never found anything like that haul. Then, to top it off.... the machine in the market today had a big sign - OUT OF ORDER - probably jammed up with a gold coin... Cheers, RickO

long dry spell for me - too many now in the game
Perhaps we should all try to spread a false rumor such as the possibility of getting electrocuted by sticking your hand in the Coinstar reject bin, in order to thwart our Coinstar search competitors.

Is that a clipped nickel in the bottom right corner?

How do you know when you're a Coinstar addict?
When you switch to a different store than you normally would go to...not for better food, not for better products, not for better selection...but mainly to check out a different Coinstar machine to see if you can get lucky with that one.

Two dimes and a penny today.

I truly despise spellchecker.
$1.04 in USA change
$1.02 in Canadian including yet another loonie.
Found a single cent in one last night. It wasn't even old or beat up. lol

A bent coin, and another large AA token that suggest someone got bent and got rid of the token and got back on the drunk wagon.
A penny saved from Coinstar is a penny earned?
Well, i'm off to do some grocery shopping.

11 cents US
a bent quarter

Today two different machines:
Machine 1:
2 Canada 25c coins and a 10c coin
Machine 2:
1 1943-S steelie, not corroded!
2 zincolns and a dime.

I've certainly developed "empty reject bin syndrome"...also known to treatment specialists as ERBS
They say a good cure for it is finding a nice silver coin in there.
What I usually get:
My YouTube Channel
Just a cruddy zincoln for me today.
A couple of passes by the coin machine produced all of this including a 1928, 1929, 1930 and 1943 cent and a 1961-D dime that is bent.
@SaorAlba ....Wow... I need to find your machine.... you find a lot of coins - and often. I am still in a drought...maybe today?? Cheers, RickO
Another machine in a credit union, $3.90 in dimes sitting in the reject slot. One of the little darlings is a 1963-D
That is amazing... great find. Never found anything like that haul. Then, to top it off.... the machine in the market today had a big sign - OUT OF ORDER - probably jammed up with a gold coin... Cheers, RickO

Today not quite as exciting but okay:
1 1942 wheat cent
2 zincolns
a nickel
and 20c Canadian.
Coinstar has been empty for awhile. Getting discouraged.
