Guess the Grade: 1843 half dime. GRADE REVEALED

It's in an old, small, white ANACS holder.
What do you think they called it, way back then?
Here's another picture of the reverse, with a different lighting angle.
And our ANACS friends 25 or so years ago said...
I paid 63 money and was delighted to get it for that. There is no trace of rub. The luster is great, and the toning, to me, is pretty special.

AU58?
My last GTG didn't turn out so well but I'll wager 63
Which old Anacs holder? The original gold foil hologram reverse or a later version?
Neat tri-cracked reverse. AU58 if only for the obverse high point "whiteness" which might only be from toning breaks. Field luster looks essentially 80-95%. Another one of those 58/63 coins. Today, it could end up 62/63 after repeated submission(s).
It's a hologram label on the reverse. Black, with two triangles each with ANACS underneath. These vary in color depending on the angle of the light.

Is that the water weight gain version of Miss Liberty?
58/61, not much luster.
Hard to tell, but I have a feeling there is more luster than the pics show.
Looks like a very nice little coin, and I'm guessing it was conservatively graded.
.
cool die cracks

The die cracks are cool.
I'll say MS62 because of those

Nice coin and photo.
It is an example of what Valentine called V-2 or V-4 (they are the same die marriage).
Valentine's photo of the V-2 shows the rim cud above star 9 on your coin,
and his photo of the V-4 shows the 3 cracks on this shattered reverse.
I recently did a survey of auction appearances for 1843 half dimes back to 2010, and this die marriage
was the one most frequently encountered (23 appearances for this particular combination of die states;
35 for the overall die marriage).
I think the interesting cracks help to make it very popular.
There is also a different shattered reverse for 1843, discussed in this thread:

AU58. There appears to be a rub on her thigh, brow and left hand. Nice shattered reverse! Great coin all around.

Interesting. The 'guestimates' range from a high of MS-64 all the way down to AU-50, but neither of these extremes can I agree with. I have absolutely no idea what grade our hosts would bestow upon it, but I would grade it AU-55 if it were in my collection. I find the toning to be attractive, and the reverse die cracks to be very interesting [I have written much on the subject of the 1843 V4], but neither of these attributes affect grade. AU-55 in my opinion.

NIce little coin! I find it nearly impossible to assess luster and light wear on toned coins, so I would have guessed a range from 55-63.
60 then, probably 66 under the new modern grading
. Not sure the toning is NT, But it's very pretty
Commems and Early Type
Thought that there might be a rub on the knee which have made it an AU-58+. From the market perspective, MS-60 is okay. A little rub is better than a scratch so far as I'm concerned. Any of these pre-1853 U.S. silver coins are tough in high grade because so many were melted for there silver content.

It does look like rub in the picture, I agree. But in hand, there's no trace.
