I get nervous with those too, but have been lucky so far, and each one was legit. It shows they are no longer registered... what happened? No pay, then got off ebay? At least (hopefully) you didn't get scammed, so it could always be worse.
I looked at the name on the account, Qwert Bloo and I knew noway was that a real name. I do not mind zero feedback bidders as they are great at bidding up auctions. But I do not like fake names for a scam. I did call ebay and told them of the name and they unregistered him. Why was he every allowed on the site in the first place?
I did offer this up to the second higher bidder, but I don't like the situation as it may appear I had a shill bid it up which is NOT the case.
What a complete waste of time for me, ebay customer service, and my bidders on this auction.
Super nice coin that will be auctioned off again unless the second or third place person wants it or if one of you do just contact me.
Was he a non-payer? Or did you get him kicked off simply because of his name? CTF_error_coins sounds like a made up name. Yet you were allowed to get on ebay. Something tells me that you had 0 feedback at one time as well.
The name to mail to is Qwert Bloo, do YOU really think that is a real name???
I called and ebay told me to cancel the transaction. After the fact I see it a note saying that payment for this transaction has been canceled . I do not know if he tried to pay or not, that's just what the note says. My instinct says maybe he did try to pay and most likely (IMO) it would have been a scam.
Well, if it was legit he missed out on a pretty cool coin!

And I thought you had to wait 3 days for NPB filings - I have sent to some 'different names' or abbreviations. As long as PAYPAL says verified, good enough for me.
For buy-it-now listings ebay allows guest checkout. These buyers will have a random username and 0 feedback. However, it does not appear that guests can bid on auctions.

I thought about going that route as I know if paid thru PayPal I have seller protection.
BUT, to mail to the name Qwert Bloo, who registered a couple days ago with a zero feedback just looked like a was asking for trouble and a lot of time ON THE PHONE with PayPal in the future trying to get my money back . IMO, I saved myself a big hassle. I have shipped thousand of coins and they always go to a normal looking name or business. This one smelled funny to me.
No big as the coin WILL sell in the future as it has awesome eye appeal.
I just sold to a Gwo S Shih- from somewhere in middle America, not a big dollar amount but I thought the name was different, but his/her money was good.

Mis-read your post. Looked like you were refusing to ship to a made up username--not the postal receipient.
Even THAT sounds more legit than Qwert Bloo. lol JMHO.

As long as Dweezil Zappa's alive I'll believe anything.
I'd bet good money that was a Korean with the phonetic spelling of his name using English characters. Usually no middle name though, but could have used part of the Korean name for it.
Good for you on keeping the transaction and not being ultra paranoid.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
OT, but watched a good documentary on Starz last night about Zappa (the original rappa).

In fairness, the only made up name that sounds made up that anyone has given so far is Qwert Bloo. I'm not sure I would want to mail the coin out in that case, as well. Too many scammers in the world, sadly.
Last night while active, I did not notice the mail to address (he had not won yet) but thought the name was weird and asked my wife about it. She said that is common as Qwert are in a row on the keyboard so I let it go.
When I saw the mail to name, that got me concerned. I even googled the name. No one has that name.

Mark Feld use to come up with some great eBay names when he would bid on scammers auctions, like scammersmasher, youraripoff, etc.
That is a real cool error!

The ebay representative even asked me if this could be one of my competitors, I said no as I know most of them and every single one of them have extremely high ethical standards .....
Seems as if the eBay Reps you are speaking with share your suspicions based on more than just weird name alone, perhaps by looking at other information "Mr. Bloo" has provided to them when making their account. I say this because they offered to let you cancel the payment quickly and specifically because they ask if a competitor could be messing with you.
I agree - very cool coin.
I once sold ASE's to a: Suhk U Wang. Never had an issue.

Your wife deserves a nice night out on the town for that bit of sleuthing.
I believe you made the right decision... bidding handle or online tag is one thing...mailing name/address needs to be legit. Cheers, RickO
