Anyone done business with...

metalsaver1970. His price are low, extremely low so thought I would check before making a deal. He doesn't take PP or PPG only bank-wire or google wallet payments. I know nothing about google wallet but know with wire transfers the money can be gone, gone, gone if not careful.
Thoughts?

Google wallet is similar to PayPal. You have your credit cards in your wallet and can charge to them to spend money.
Bank wires have no recourse if you have trouble
Have not heard of Google Wallet.... good history with Paypal.... Really do not need more ways to spend money....
Cheers, RickO
I was wondering the same question, I asked for references and he said "References, not totally."
I offered USPS money order.....He said he never heard of that but would look into it ??

How desperate for a "deal" are you?
Therein lies the basis for the decision.
I have not had much to do with dealers who need to use exotic ways of getting paid. If my check is not good enough for them, then I'm tempted to pass. I'm an old guy who is sort of old fashioned that way.
As for the low prices, I'd be careful if you are out looking for ultra grade commemoratives. You should look before you leap. Some very highly graded commemoratives have toning that turns me off which could account for the low prices.
And of course, there is always the Woody Allen consideration. There are folks out there who "Take the money and run."
No recourse with a bank wire. Definitely would NOT do that. Sounds like you have an uneasy feeling about this. Trust your instincts.
I know not of the person.
I know I would pass just because of those terms.

I was going to buy the 90% halves he has for sale but didn't go through because he doesn't use paypal. I don't do bank transfers and don't have/want Google Wallet. I've only seen a few of his posts around here.

I was about to buy them as well it had the same exact situation. I don't think I'll buy from him at all after hearing that he was going to sell to both of us.
Well I told him yesterday at about 5pm central time to let me know if he changed his mind on the paypal thing. I contacted him initially only about an hour after his post so I doubt it was a "double selling" situation.

If a person has not heard of USPS money orders something is a little fishy.

I contacted him less than 20 minutes after the bump and told him I'd take them if he took PayPal
Thank you to an unnamed member for bringing this thread to my attention. Thank you to the OP for looking out for the safety of the members here.
Before I listed anything for sale, I asked for feedback on the bullion portion of this site. I received advice from several well respected members, even someone that has commented on this thread. I was advised on what to expect and what payment methods are used. At the end of the day, it's my items and my terms. If you don't like it and aren't comfortable, then pass on by. I took that advice and agree with those members who gave it.
I did try PayPal and they held everything that came in. I don't have to accept it and after that, I won't accept it. Bank transfer and checks were advised of accepted options when dealing with bullion. Google wallet was brought to my attention from a well respected buyer, as a method he uses. I know not everyone uses the same methods and wallet provides more security than a check or transfer.
To some individuals. 1630boston He asked if I would accept a USPS money order. I said I wasn't familiar with them and I would check. I asked where he was located and if he was familiar with bank transfer and I didn't hear back from him. I messaged him days later and was told things changed and interest went elsewhere. Morganman asked what methods I accepted and I told him. We agreed to wait until references could be built. As for double selling, I never told anyone that only 1 lot was available. Low prices, not really. After ebay fees my prices are pretty close to that net amount.
I'm disappointed that that the worst was assumed and opinions were presented to scare off buyers. I was up front with each person who asked about payment methods. PayPal may be for a lot of you, but not for me. If that loses buyers, so be it.
USPS = United States Postal Service; Money Order.
You buy them at the post office and can cash them there as well.
Almost as good as cash.
Yes, paypal can be a pain for new sellers, I am in that boat now having just started to sell some things here and there on ebay. I've had to wait the full 15 days for my funds when buyers don't leave feedback to "complete the transaction". It's a pain, but it's also the safest way to purchase from someone you don't know, and 3% is usually cheap insurance. I don't think anyone here is out to libel you, it's just that sometimes "bad situations" start with a seller who, for lack of better terms, doesn't get along with paypal. It's happened to me and to others I know. Just being cautious and like I said, let me know if you change your mind on paypal, I'm usually looking for decent priced 90%.

Unless they don't have enough money to cover it. Finally had to take one to my local bank and was able to deposit it there. My PO is tiny, but even the 'local Bigger City' one couldn't handle the one I had (~$1000 IIRC). BUT, I was able to do a local bank deposit (my online bank and credit unions don't do electronic deposits of those).
USPS MO runs out of gas around $300 where I live. Even then sometimes the local PO doesn't have the cash on hand. The last thing I need is an extra errand.
It was nice of metalsaver to reply. His policies are logical enough. Paranoia is healthy when conducting bullion deals with people you've never met. For me, it's usually just best to act like the bigger bullion companies...... stuff ships when the check clears. If you're in a big hurry, use a wire or regular PayPal (with the 3%). Saves trouble in the end.
If the forum seller does not accept reg PP .. I pass. I haven't written a paper check for anything in years. All the bullion dealers that I purchase from, APMEX, JMbullion & Provident all accept e checks from established customers. Never had a problem with any one who accepts reg PP or bullion dealers who accept e checks.
Getting your feet wet buying OR selling anything from across the country to a private party is always suspect to questioning.
Even seasoned sellers sometimes have to go thru escrow companies to get the deal done.
I agree that a seller can set his own terms.
as a buyer I set my own terms of acceptance.
As a buyer I wont use bank transfer or regular paypal with an unknown person. References should be available and
other information to confirm background and Identity as well if requested. Low post count and unusual payment terms make me not even look at the sellers goods it has has many red flags in my opinion.
I only use regular paypal and I do ask for references with unknown sellers , a good deal at high risk is not always a bargain the bad transactions posted about all seemed to of involved PayPal gift.
one has to use due diligence and weigh the deal against the risk. Giant huge red flag is pay pal gift or bank transfer only there is almost no recourse and postal money orders are not as safe for a buyer as you might think there was one post about the seller cashing the money order and never sending the item though it is a crime it is tough to get any recourse and it takes a very long time if there is any recovery.
Generally if you have a large denomination MO, it's best to call your local PO and tell them that you wish to cash one and ask if they have enough cash on hand or ask them to acquire enough cash to Git R Done.
all forms of payment carries risks with them no getting around that fact, but the question is how much risk are you willing to take to get the item or items you want, once you answer that then go from there

Unfortunately I missed this thread last month.
I sent 2 payment through Google Wallet to this member, the last being on December 26th.
The only thing I received were excuses and 2 tracking numbers that have never been
updated.
I obviously should have done my due diligence, and I would have found this thread.
Hopefully no one else has been taken. If so, message me.
I have info as to identity, and expect justice will be served.

no buyer recourse with USPS money order. Other than cash, the best payment method for a seller. Can be exchanged by the seller for cash at the PO counter (if they have enough cash) or deposited into a bank account same as a check.

So im guessing metalsaver was a big fraud???
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
December 17th is the day I made payment.
I was patient for the holiday-time reasons for no shipment, but since the last correspondence with metalsaver1970 was over a week ago, I had to escalate it with paypal and post here.
It's too bad because every transaction I've had on this forum has always been prompt and problem-free.
I hope all is well with Ed, but in this age of cell phones, tablets, etc. There is really no good excuse for losing contact for over a week.
At this point I would feel more comfortable with PayPal issuing me a refund, and I would be happy to make a full payment if the package was ever to arrive.
edited for a typo.
