The Lydian "trite" is considered by many numismatic scholars to be the first coin ever made.
Twenty five years ago I named my company after the natural alloy of gold and silver from which these first coins were made.
I was fortunate to buy this trite raw over a decade ago from Chicago dealer Harlan Berk, who literally wrote the book about these dawn of coinage pieces. I had it slabbed a few months back:
A 1960-D small over large date cent. I wrote an article about it in Coin World in 1966 but it was decades before the coin was sufficiently recognized to be included in standard reference books.
I lost mine back in 2001 when the site changed. At some point we were able to upload and add one to the list. PCGS had to look at them first because some were a bit over what the young folks should be seeing.
One of the members posted this image. Forgot who that was.
I cut it up and uploaded it. I still use it on all the different forums.
Edit to add. The original was made by Cosmic.
The small size threw me for a loop. So I kept trying variations of my avatar until I found something that I liked at this thumbnail size. The winner for me was the central part of my favorite old US Currency Note -- the 1896 $5 Silver Certificate. Kind of conjures up visions of a Winged Liberty, which is my screen name.

Immediately after 9-11, all the members switched to the American flag. As the weeks and months passed, most changed to something else. I and a few others, have never changed. But for a period of time, ALL the icons were the same.
One of my favorites. I searched for about a decade to find just the right one. And finally, oh there it was on DWN's site. But wait, it was already ON HOLD within seconds of the newp postings so I thought, okay another decade to wait. But a few days/weeks later, someone here posted the image. I PMed him/her and offered 10% over what they paid and they kindly accepted. So here it is below and it has a permanent home for at least the next decade.

Remember all the cars with those window clip 8" flags. The country really felt truly united like none other that day and for many months after
Mine is one of my favorite coins, and probably my most irreplaceable coin. It's also sentimental to me because I bought it raw and submitted it to NGC. It now sits in a 66* holder:
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
My primary collection is San Francisco small denomination gold. The eagle and "S" mintmark are lifted from an 1850s-era quarter eagle. I stole the background color from the Pogue catalog art because I thought it looked good when contrasted with the gold foreground color.
Good stories...mine is one of my favorite coins from my collection and is also probably the best coin photo I have taken as I am challenged in that area!

My avatar is the first medal we made for the National Gettysburg Coin Show in 2014. From 2001 until the new boards we are on, I had a toned buffalo nickel reverse avatar and had wanted to change it. With the new boards, I decided to finally change from the toned buffalo to our show medal.

The pardon is for tyrants. They like to declare pardons on holidays, such as the birthday of the dictator, or Christ, or the Revolution. Dictators should be encouraged to keep it up. And we should be encouraged to remember that the promiscuous dispensation of clemency is not a sign of political liberality. It is instead one of those valuable, identifying marks of tyranny.

At the time I joined the forum, I was busy buying silver OBW rolls off ebay because they could be had for a nominal premium. I ran across a guy who was selling 1958 & 1959 Chase Manhattan rolls and I noticed that many of the end coins were toned. My avatar is one of the nicer ones, and it is still in the original roll as I found it.
