I know I am new as an active participant and I know that this topic was discussed on the old forum.
But I also see that there appear to be a lot [ or many, or some] new forum members like myself and to get to know who we are discussing numismatics with I thought it might be a good idea to do this again.
I'll start in the next post.

The green demon was one of the original two dozen or so avatars offered when PCGS moved from their super-archaic 1990s platform to their "new" modern platform in February, 2001. We all had to re-register and lost our post counts and private messages, if I recall correctly, but at least we could now have an avatar. Again, if I recall correctly, there were only a few hundred of us on the boards at that time and I was the only one to take the green demon. Over the years there have been a few other folks who have used the green demon, but they were generally trolls hoping to get a rise out of folks.

One of the first numismatic pieces I bought. I started into this hobby just flipping bullion.
My first cut out coin.
My first pinback coin.
This piece would have made quite a statement in the late 1800's, pin on the lapel or breast of a jacket. Hand cut, then gilt with gold on the would be gold areas(crowns, chains). The outer ring makes it about the size of a silver dollar.
@TomB
At first it did remind me of a troll.............kind of like the one in Seattle........................but after learning the history of it AND reading your postings here.....I now have a new respect for your avatar.

I bought the coin in my avatar raw from a dealer who made it abundantly clear that the color was artificial. My gut said it was good. I paid full retail for an untoned example.
It landed in a 66 PCGS holder on the first try. It stickered at CAC.
I showed it to a few select dealers, gave them a price I came up with largely based on instinct. They felt I was far from reality.
It recently sold, unreserved, at auction for significantly more than I was asking.
It's not my series of choice, or frankly the kind of color I desire, but it serves as a reminder to trust my instincts.
Saw this back in the early days . . . could have selected from quite a few stock images as I wasn't much for self-design in those days.
Had a flight background . . . thought it might arouse some interest in the aviators here.
Also, they didn't have a stock AU 1987-D Lincoln Cent . . . so I went with this.

i like silver coins and soda pop and this 1907 japan 20 sen seemed to be a fitting pic so i uploaded it and had it ever since

It's not Colt 45 malt liquor.
Quite some time ago, I used to wander without direction in a certain B&M I'd frequent.
I'd end up buying lots of "stuff".
One day the owner took me aside and showed me this raw 1819 CBH
He recommended that i consider buying it and that he was sure I'd never regret it.
He was right. One of my top favorite coins for many reasons.

My coin is an 82s morgan with a concave obverse that gives it an unbelievable "bowl" or "dish" luster effect (instead of standard cartwheel) especially in ms67. A member here (@Messydesk) is an animated coin .gif savant. He is killer at doing .gifs to show off the luster or toning of a coin. Hit him up if you want one done. I highly recommend it. It is also one of my dicovery vams, 1882s VAM 35

In a galaxy far far away, a space serpent captured a talented artist and photographer who catalogued some of the most out of this world toners this universe has ever seen.
I'm glad I'm following Sparky64, because my dog Sparky is in my avatar photo. I was making a Dogwood sign for our Antique mall booth of the same name and she walked up to sniff the letters I'd spread across the kitchen floor.
It's one of the few pics I have of her only cus I usually took pics of Milo our Boston. He just passed on Halloween. Sucks.
So, Go Sparky!
Good stories. Mine is one of only two coins that I have ever actually sent in to our hosts for grading. It came back VG-10. I like IHCs because they remind me of my younger days.
Bought a shop , then the domain. No spam intended.
Because there was no person more kick *** than the man with no name.
Because Greg Maddux is a true artist, probably a top 5 all time pitcher, and definitely my favorite player of all time.
Always looking for tougher PSA 10's of Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, Mookie Betts, Francisco Lindor, and Mike Trout.
Highest graded and most eye appealing example of the lowest minted key coin in my series.

I am into Peace Dollars. This one is a very lustrous, lightly toned 1928-P in an old small anacs 64 holder.

I have cats that could haved posed for this avatar
This was a Morgan Dollar that my father (Has passed on) engraved my "name" as well as, my "birth date" on the Obverse and the reverse. He did this when I was born. He engraved other Morgans for my siblings too. Recently, i've decided to send my "Dad's Dollar" to our host to have it certified forever in the PCGS slab. I requested to PCGS, if they would title the slab, "Dad's Dollar" on the obverse of the slab. As you can see, they certainly obliged to my wishes! That's the story of my Avatar. Thanks for asking. -joey

It's a coin forum and this is my favorite coin from my collection
I like the 1964-1970 frosty Kennedy's. And they can still be broken from original proof sets (such as the one for my avatar.)

Just a great piece of album artwork. To appreciate it you need to view it full-size though.
It is the "Friday Patch" to my unit, 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron, when I was stationed at Soesterberg Air Base, The Netherlands, 1989-92. The best three years of my 24 year Air Force career!

I have been fascinated with early U.S. Coins for many years so the reverse of a Chain cent seemed logical. If I changed it now people would complain that they couldn't find me! I use a 1792 half disme across the street.
Some years back, we adopted a rescue Vizsla named Josie. She was a very sweet dog, with a goofy personality and really high energy. I thought the photoshopped image with the buck teeth (not a pic of Josie) was sort of silly, like her, and not too serious, since I try not to take myself too seriously, either. We had to put her down almost exactly a year ago, due to bone cancer. I still really miss that dog!
The Colt .45 is one of my favorites, and I am an active tactical handgun trainer with a state certified school. I also teach the law in respect to self defense. Cheers, RickO
when I first joined we were limited to stock icons or we had to load our own on a specific day, I think it was the 15th of each month. I used a stock "paper bag" icon at first until lordM offered to size whatever I wanted so that it would fit the PCGS parameters.
I chose the John Prine album cover "Sweet Revenge" because I enjoy the music and slightly resemble JP in both temperament and appearance, albeit with longer hair.
Mine is my favorite coin in my favorite series. In the earlier days of the forum I had the San Antonio Spurs logo. Sill a big fan of them too, it's a new era after Tim Duncan retired.

My first purchase here. From Stefanie (Coinsarefun) who to this day still posts some of the coolest pieces I have seen and
guided me through the "stupid" years : D
It is my nod to her.
My favorite from my 50c type set.
Found this monster 1971s in a raw proof set. Bought the set for something less than $10. Eventually submitted to PCGS who assigned a PR69dcam grade - value in PCGS Price Guide is $3,850. One of my best scores.

Some pretty neat reasons. Mine is easy, it's what they gave me. I tried to upload a photo of my plum crazy T/A Challenger, but the photo is too big and I'm not savvy enough to reduce the size. So physcodellic winky man it is.
I pulled the OEM motor from my Dodge Challenger and dropped in a forged and stroked 426 with a supercharger. I like to race at our local drag strip when it is open to the public and readjust the perceptions of the folks in my town with Ferrari's and Lamborghini's.
