For the longest time I had no Avatar and no title. Why I picked (pun intented) a sweet little strawberry, I couldn't tell you other than the other options were mostly taken.
My avitar is the most beautiful and favorite buffalo nickel from my primary collection. This is also was my mothers birth year. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I do believe this 1921 buffalo nickel is the most beautiful one on the planet for this particular date.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
Have to admit Zeppelin is my all time favorite band,(will never be another) Pink Floyd is a very close second.
Music and coins started for me around the same time, 1973,74. Big part of my life...

'cause I'm too stupid/lazy to upload a new avatar.................used to have a nice stock photo of an IHC on an earlier iteration of this Forum. Would likely replace it with a 2-cent piece if I was motivated enough.

The green demon was one of the original two dozen or so avatars offered when PCGS moved from their super-archaic 1990s platform to their "new" modern platform in February, 2001. We all had to re-register and lost our post counts and private messages, if I recall correctly, but at least we could now have an avatar. Again, if I recall correctly, there were only a few hundred of us on the boards at that time and I was the only one to take the green demon. Over the years there have been a few other folks who have used the green demon, but they were generally trolls hoping to get a rise out of folks.
Yes, then in early 2002, we could upload an avatar but only on one day a month.
I thought a "no legend Lincoln would be pretty cool. I stoke the idea from shylock. The portrait is actually Stewart's 1919 MS69. The rest is a proof with the date and legend erased.
A lot of new members with stock avatars now... kind of diminishes the 'forum character'....Always more interesting when people choose avatars with a personal connection. Cheers, RickO
I like history. This robe is the most interesting thing I come across in a long time. It's from the Paiwan tribe of Formasa (Now know as Taiwan ). It's hand made and the motifs are all beaded. They all have a specif meaning ,which I'm still researching.
When I first joined the forum, I was roll hunting Jefferson Nickels and added a 1950-D Jefferson I had found in a roll as my avatar, shortly thereafter I found a 1952 Proof Washington Quarter which was the Superbird variety and made my very own avatar:
The very first time I ever asked to look at proof sets I came across this 1956 Washington that graded out at 68 DCAM...I've never come close to finding one with this heavy of frost again, accordingly, it became my avatar.
Since Dimeman has me by about 9 years as a Cowboy fan, I will have to defer on using Mr. Staubach as a pic, the only true sports hero I have ever had.....that and I have no clue how to change my current one, which I'm not fond of.
I read about the 1919 ddo mercury dime on this board, searched my coin albums and found one.
I thought it was a good choice for my avatar since I discovered my ddo dime because of the cu message board members.
Bought this coin with only the auction description and catalogue picture (around 1993) and was so pleased with the beautiful toning and under graded to boot.
Reverse
My luck was to buy this medal with poor pictures on the internet. I had a hunch about it. Bought it raw. Got it and the toning was and is fantastic and original. One day, years later I decided to do some research and realized I had a SP Matte finish medal! Sent it in the our host and it came back as I thought and A high grade to boot. So I made it my Avatar.

Used to have a blank cent planchet as my avatar to go with the name, but someone else started to use it so I switched to the New Frontier Bronze medal which is a favorite of mine.

I just used a common but eye appealing Washington I had. I picked it up for $10, sent it in, knowing it probably wouldn't be 'worth It', but I wanted it in a slab. I'm now going to start a 20th Century Ms toned type set.

Joe-that's one of the prettiest of ANY date-such a beautiful coin.
Because I love shield nickel varieties, and my avatar is a particularly unusual DDO with strong east/west doubling (most shield nickel DDOs are north/south).

I came across this thread while searching google. Pretty interesting so I thought I would bump it.

A HUGE fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Tom Landry and 5 count'em 5 Super Bowl Wins. Living for #6 to tie the Steelers and #7 to pass the Steelers.
It's a really neat Pan-American expo cover featuring the "Buffalo in a Tux"-a tribute to my favorite coin.
Old guy with no knowledge of computers so picked a stock image because I could figure how to do it.
This just verifies that you must be one cool dude to like coins and great music

Hello, my avatar represents my bottle collection which is much larger than my coin collection, although I have collected both for many years.
