Question regarding a recent Ebay purchase that I made. I have a near complete collection of Dan Carr 1964-d Morgan dollars. One coin I didn't have was a double struck. . . which I would very much love to own! I found one on Ebay, and it's even labeled by ANACS on the holder as being double struck. To my eyes, however, it just appears to be shelf doubling. My question is, can anyone help show me what I should be seeing for it to be double struck? My other double struck coins are very obvious. Thanks in advance!
It is beyond normal "shelf doubling".
That one was probably a die adjustment strike that I put back into the collar and over-struck again at higher tonnage.
I believe with MD/shelf doubling, when you add up the thickness of the "shelf" and the raised elements they equate to the normal thickness of the design element.
With double struck, the raised elements are proper thickness/size on their own.
Love the mailbox……… but the post in the ground should be shorter then the “ elbow “ , that the mailbox is on….. so when a drunk driver hits it, the mailbox will keep going around in circles until it stops‼️👍🎯👀‼️
When I opened the mailer, I about fainted. These SL Dollars are awesome. I'll have to get my tripod out of the attic and finish them tomorrow. I did want to share this piece though. I've never seen or owned such a masterpiece.

BEFORE and AFTER:
So I try to make things turn out advantageous for my customers. After I over-struck that coin the first time, it had what looked like graffiti in the open area to the right of the Seated Liberty. So I over-struck it again about 10% off-center, thinking that would obliterate the remaining graffiti. But that didn't work, and maybe it wasn't normal graffiti. It appears to be a flaw that runs fairly far down into the surface. So I struck it again way off-center. It turned out pretty neat, although the planchet flaw is still visible in the area of ONE DOL and CC on the final over-strike (see the zig-zag lines).
Hey ZoidMeister………….. When are we gonna ask Dan about multi-year KOTCT medals ⁉️⁉️Someone needs to ask cause I know it’s gonna “ kick ass” whatever it is ‼️‼️👍🎯‼️‼️‼️
I’m wondering what I have here.Dan’s minted items web page says some were given a circulated (worn) finish. The signed “circulated“ pencil appears to be Dan’s handwriting, but, his description also says that they all had been edge marked with the phrases….” Don’t Borrow Money “ and “Don’t Pay Interest “.
This piece as a plain edge with no edge marking.
I’m wondering how rare is this, or did I buy a counterfeit ⁉️
Just picked up a few of Daniel Carr's latest design Zerbe support satirical tokens this morning. Very limited production. They will go well with the Elder tokens.
They're not in hand just yet. Will post my photos when they arrive. Here are the sellers photos.
I love how many of the letters in NON CENTS were punched inverted.
These pieces are very much in the style of Elders work, which is quite ironic seeing as these are protesting the removal of Zerbe's name from the ANA's highest award.

Looking at the monkey and pig, it is apparent that there is some wear on the token from the antiquing process.
It is possible that the edge lettering was somewhat lightly-impressed to start with, and the wear on the token obscured it.

Thanks, OakStar for posting the info. I checked out their inventory and they have some nice stuff with decent prices.
I bought this, I have been looking for one but never found a nice one that was cheap. This one looks good and is graded ANACS MS69.
I hadn’t planned on buying one of these but after my recent purchase of an 1805 $5 Draped Bust it seemed like a good add. Here is the set. One DC and one real.
Dang. I went to the Northeast Numismatic site to check the Dan Carr hoard that was for sale yesterday evening, and it was clear that some of you had already visited. lol The one item that I needed was "on hold" already. I visited again this morning and most of the items were on hold.

ANACS For whatever reason does not award MS70 on most any Carr overstrikes.
Maybe yours is an example of them coming to their senses ?
Perfect & flawless should always get a 70.
Over the years I have seen flawed and imperfect in 70 holders from everybody.
That MCMXXI is a top issue of all time in my mind. My 1st one bought from Dan in that brief moment in time and another off of flea bay when seller countered my offer. It's a flawless ANACS 69. Far more of my Carrs are perfect, than imperfect. Daniel's QC is exceptional.
Happy Shopping !!!
