Hey Z -- it looks like you might have gotten one of the only GOLDEN stairs ... maybe good for a special MM Wonka tour?

I have found that bronze does not behave nearly as well as silver when melting, pouring, rolling and punching.
So a number of the bronze "Stairs" medals had planchet defects (the most severe ones were melted, the moderate ones were given away locally, and the minor ones were sold).

Mine has some "gravitational anomalies" mentioned above. Is this one considered a minor "bulk handled" piece?
Z

I would consider that one to be a minor defect (like most were) and sold as normal. That illustrates one reason that I probably won't do bronze again - the planchets tended to have defects (especially close to the edge) and when ejected from the collar the metal would stick to the collar and get pulled into an irregular wire rim on the reverse.
All those that I put in the "moderate defect" category were given away (literally handed to local friends without any holder - and thus, the "bulk handled" condition on those).
...At some unannounced time I may have a few more to list on my store (high-grade and/or circulated)...
Dan, will I be able to order a circulated MCMXXI Peace Dollar if I've already ordered the high-grade version?
Yes or no, I'm good either way.
My goal is to make every one perfect so that none of them need to be "circulated" to hide a minor blemish.
If there are any of the circulated finish, I'm not sure yet how I might distribute them. Perhaps auction ?

The fields on Peace Dollars are sculpted unevenly, and so they are not very conducive to cameo proof-like polishing. But I have done it none-the-less:
If I do another proof-like Peace, it will be a "1936" (to go with a 1936 proof set).
Morgans are suited for proof-like finishes. I have done a couple different ones:

Comparing the one I received with the fake as shown in the above list there is no doubt I got an Unauthorized Copy. I should have been alerted by the low price. D'oh! Live and learn.

For these specific ones (2015-D Winged Liberty Ameros), have you ever seen any from China? I've seen these over the years, and all the ones I've seen come from Poland, like the one ordered by @Kudbegud. If they were from China, I would expect to see some from China as well as Poland.
Tell them you want to return it because it's a counterfeit. They will tell you to keep it and give you a refund due to the cost of returning it. Then you can take it out of circulation and they don't profit from their scheme.

Didn't expect the tidal wave of offerings all at once, not complaining, I did get the Owl to keep up to date with my run, and a Union. Also, picked up the December HT 13 stairs earlier. Put the 2021 peace on the back burner bc I was going to look at a collection that last week, and had also a large bid on another coin. I thought the peace would be up for awhile bc of price, and I could come back.... gone.
I'll anticipate the next batch MCMXXI Peace dollars as if I was looking for the latest Owl issue on Dan's site...

Every time I click on this thread, all I do is regret not just buying more DC items when they show up, and basically very few from the US Mint the past several years.
With what I have wasted on US moderns, I could have had a really nice set of DC medals by now. Live and learn.

I'm the opposite of you. I buy Dan Carr's pieces and will only occasionally buy from the US Mint. I've been buying Dan's pieces regularly and barely buy from the US Mint. I'll buy Dan's pieces the first day they are offered, often within the first hour of learning about it and then buying more later. For the US Mint, I got a 2020 V75 Silver Eagle this year, but before that, I think my last direct purchase was the 2006 Anniversary ASE set! I don't feel a huge need to buy US Mint issues because the vast majority of them are available at any time on eBay.

@Zoins: No worries or need to edit.
My post was to publicly admit that I have not been thinking clearly when it comes to buying the more recent US Mint products.. LOL. My older National Commemorative medal set from the US Mint is more fun and difficult, than moderns, and obviously a DC collection from early days is very special.
I was just trying to warn other new collectors not to fall into the US Mint trap of punji stakes, and financial ruin.

I'm trying to be nice here but what are you thinking??
US Mint pieces can almost always be purchased on the secondary market for low prices while the same is simply not try with Dan's pieces.

I probably won't be a buyer if they're just overpriced bullion. That is, if they're struck on the same 1 oz planchet as American Silver Eagle bullion and offered to dealers in monster boxes.
Although I might be tempted by a high-relief proof 2021 Peace Dollar. Or maybe a CC mintmark Morgan.

They don't have a Mint at Carson City any more and the CC coin press #1 can't strike dollar sized medals any more. If they did strike a CC mintmark, I'd want it to be struck in Carson City.

Thank you to Representative Mark Amodei, Representative Andy Barr, Representative Emanuel Cleaver, Senator Mike Enzi, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee members Thomas J. The legislation authorizes the Mint to release new Morgan and Peace coins in 2021 marking their 100th anniversary. Nice score! SL Quarter is one of my favorite coin designs -- with the "Mercury" dime and Walking Liberty half.
All 3 designs were introduced in 1916 coins. IMO the best year ever for new coin designs.
For the centennial in 2016, Dan produced a bunch of terrific fantasy overstrikes and commemorative tokens. Good thing too, because all we got from the USMint was overpriced gold bullion commemoratives.
You might also want Dan's 1922 SLQ -- if you can find one. It uses the USMint Variety 2 covered-breast design.

Thanks for the answers. I guess I missed these as well. It would be nice if we can have both again.
The cameo prooflike is very attractive

I'm a fan of Dan's proof-like cameos. One of mine...
Makes me wonder if some ghosting is unavoidable on Dan's PL cameo overstrikes. And I expect it'd be especially pronounced on a high-relief coin: https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/comment/11945561/#Comment_11945561

Tell them you want to return it because it's a counterfeit. They will tell you to keep it and give you a refund due to the cost of returning it. Then you can take it out of circulation and they don't profit from their scheme.
love those proof peace dollar's just like my avatar !
That fake is Horrible Looking.
Someone just listed one on the bay, for moon money. Not my auction, etc.
$899.00 OBO.

This is one of the most $$ Carr pieces in original medal OR Trail pieces. One on ebay now for only $749 (not mine).
.
(edited to add) It's also one of my favorite US Commem Half Dollar coin. Only seen one Carr piece avail in several years - on watch.
Just found another counterfeit on fleaBay.

This is from the same seller in Fajslawice, Poland as posted a while back. Seems these have been sold for years now.
Every time I click on this thread, all I do is regret not just buying more DC items when they show up, and basically very few from the US Mint the past several years.
With what I have wasted on US moderns, I could have had a really nice set of DC medals by now. Live and learn.
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
I do like this union eagle.
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
Okay, here's something along the lines of my original post:
I'm trying to be nice here but what are you thinking??
US Mint pieces can almost always be purchased on the secondary market for low prices while the same is simply not try with Dan's pieces.

This looks, um, interesting: President Trump signs measure for centennial silver dollars

If they are struck on the same 1oz planchets as silver eagles, imagine the toning possibilities!
They don't have a Mint at Carson City any more and the CC coin press #1 can't strike dollar sized medals any more. If they did strike a CC mintmark, I'd want it to be struck in Carson City.

"I am excited about H.R. 6192, the 1921 Silver Dollar Coin Anniversary Act, recently signed into law which marks the 100th anniversary of the Mint’s transition of production from the Morgan to the Peace dollar. Thank you to Representative Mark Amodei, Representative Andy Barr, Representative Emanuel Cleaver, Senator Mike Enzi, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee members Thomas J. Uram and Mike Moran, as well as the U.S. Mint and Treasury Department's Legislative Affairs offices for their strong support in getting this new legislation passed. The legislation authorizes the Mint to release new Morgan and Peace coins in 2021 marking their 100th anniversary. Below are the Mint's artist renderings on a portion of what you can expect later this year from the United States Mint."
