    That is not one that I produced in any way.

    It is a genuine US Mint 1964 silver Washington quarter with some sort of striking error.
    Possibly struck on a type-1 (un-rimmed) blank.

    Thanks Dan; just a note. this example weighs 4.9 grams versus a standard of 6.25.

    Maybe struck on a quarter planchet punched from dime strip? (Or, quarter strip rolled too thin?).

    I wish mine would show up in Informed Delivery but they never do. From the ship date I'm guessing it will show up on Monday.

    Hmm...

    Well, 4.9 grams weight would be consistent with a quarter-dollar size blank that was punched from rolled stock of dime thickness.

    Curious that Dan struck the Roosevelt dime in CuNi?? Also, what's with the mintmark on the SBAs - very indistinct

    I assume you meant "Sacagawea" instead of "SBA" ?
    The SBA obverse is not copyrighted.
    The Sacagawea obverse IS copyrighted.
    Even with the copyright, however, it is still a gray area.

    Yes, I meant the Sacagawea mintage. It's one of the best modern designs and in my opinion is a most collectable series. A great legacy from a great modern sculptor.

    If I ever hope to complete a US type set of fantasy date over-strikes, a copper-nickel clad Roosevelt dime would be required. Not my favorite coin type, but I decided to get it done and finished so I can move on to other things. In this environment it is not generally possible to go to a coin show or coin shop to get over-strike candidates. I already had a small bag of pocket change that was mostly modern dimes and the bank lobby was closed so there was no way to cash them in except Coin Star (fee involved). So I decided to use them for an over-strike project.

    The "D" on the Susan B Anthony over-strikes is modeled after the typical D (often filled) as seen on 1978-D SBAs.

    @dcarr
    Well I'm happy you chose 1944 for the Roosevelt dime, it's my birth year and it so happens this is my birth month.
