So I decided to check the adjacent serial numbers to my Walker that is listed as a Cleveland half in the PCGS database and S/N9142454 thru 9142464 are all 1947-D walkers with the lone exception of mine. Not sure if this means anything but certainly adds to the mystery. All were either MS64 or MS65's Wow, there may be 10 other 1947-D Doily Walkers out there!!!!

Updated the census this AM - 8 added since last month to include those reported here and my observations on eBay/elsewhere.

I apologize if these questions were asked and answered in the previous thread. I think this is a great idea and will contribute any info that I find. My current doilies are all listed. Two questions.
1. Is someone regularly going through the cert verification at PCGS to determine whether or not these certs still exist? In other words, do we know if they have since been cracked out?
2. Along the same line, are the certs reported from auctions seen in the recent and not so recent past being checked in the PCGS db prior to being added?
I can check numbers to assist if this has not been done. Perhaps any that were verified at the time and are now missing could be described as deceased? lol
Great points. Every doily that I provide for the census is checked in the PCGS Cert Verification Search engine. In addition, I won't post a cert # for the census unless I have seen an image of it
Great idea, if you have the time. It would help with crackouts but not so much for reholders.
It would put the rarity of a Doily in a better perspective.
I've always been concerned about unverified reportings but have decided to trust the forum members.

I ran all of the numbers and the following are no longer in the database and presumed cracked out:

You ran all of the numbers - WOW! Was it 1 by 1 or is there a faster way??
Thanks!

So, if I enter 8201243 and it comes up 08201243, is there any way of knowing if it's still a Doily or if it's been reholdered??
When I enter current Doilies I own, there's a 0 added at the front of the serial number......

I ran them individually. There may have been a better way unknown to me. There is no way to know if any of these have been reholdered since having been discovered, but given the desirability of the holder to many, and the pattern I saw running the numbers, there has to be a significant upside potential from an upgrade to initiate a crack out. Lower end coins are the biggest pops but the lowest crack outs.

When it comes to cracking, a lot of people couldn't care less about it being in a doily.
Sounds good - when I double check before deleting, if they come up with a 0 added, I'll have to assume they are still in Doily holders until proven otherwise.
Thanks!

When you ran the cert numbers, about how many [if any] had pics associated with them?
Have added Doilies posted to date in my spreadsheet which will be updated here at the end of each month.

I finally got my PCGS Doily sample 1964-D 10C. Since they are all Cert # 7000023, there is no accurate census. I think I remember seeing in the old census maybe an accounting of around 13. Any ideas of how many have been accounted for?
If I had to make a WAG, I'd say 150 or so. Most are 64-D, the minority other dates.
When I sell them on eBay, they bring $125 or so. When others sell them, $200.

Has anyone ever seen an old rattler holder with a doily label. I've got one I'm currently looking at. The coin is already overpriced ... but it's the combination of the label and holder I'm wondering about!! Any help please?
Once the outer ring comes off, it looks like a rattler.
Is there a barcode on the label?

To be compatible with the current system of 8 digit cert numbers, the system probably automatically inserts a 0 in front of 7 digit cert numbers.
