The problem is that the Red Sox are stuck with Sandoval for another 5 years at an average $19m per...this lunacy thanks to the former GM. They could sit him and play Travis, but then they literally give away over $100k per game to sit Sandoval...ain't gonna happen. Farrell should have hammered the crap out of him for the cell phone incident last year...I would have levied at least $50k...you're either in the game or not, no two ways about it.
Other problems loom...Porcello, Kelly, and Rusney, who will start in LF, all high paid players, but performance is lacking. Of course Ramirez remains an unknown at 1st, but I still feel he will not excel at the position. He may get rah, rah reviews when he makes a play here and there worthy of his salary, but come August, I think the hand writing will have been on the wall. Over paid and under performing. Might as well throw Bucky in the mix, he runs hot and cold.
No doubt Dombrowski is trying to dump Sandoval, but how much do they have to eat to dump him? Maybe he's trying to do a big deal for both 3rd and 1st base players...who knows??
Much will be made of the Ortiz farewell tour and thus some of the inept play of others will be overlooked.
I'm more excited about my next casino trip, the Red Sox are not lighting me up very much.
I am more excited about my next casino tour too. Headed to vegas in May. Not really interested in gaming having worked it for so long but enjoy a change of lifestyle for a change. Will continue to monitor the sox to see what happens.
Well Pit, don't make the big mistake I did by staying at Monte Carlo...what a SEWER !!!
As you may recall, we were only there for 2 days in Jan to see Celine Dion and thinking the tram at the back of Monte would hook us up to Bellagio for the walk to Caesar's was the ticket. Well the tram was ok, BUT, the walk to the tram and then the walk through Bellagio to Caesar's was a huge mistake on my part. My wife is facing a hip replacement surgery in two weeks and in Jan the pain was bearable and I tried to avoid her walking as much as possible. Should have stayed at either Caesar's or Bellagio...that old "comp" thing got the best of me, thinking free rooms at Monte were worth the risk...BAD CHOICE !!
As for you just hanging out, were I to go back and just play lookee loo, I'd maybe start at Venetian, then Palazzo and on to Wynn. Wynn just oozes class, so classy you almost don't mind losing a few bucks playing BJ.
I almost NEVER play slots, but to kill time as we were cruising through MGM Grand we played a $1, 2-coin triple diamond machine. It ate my first Benjamin, then with $30 left on the second benji, we hit the $2.5k jackpot. Nice, but now I have a W2-G to wrangle with next year.
Best view IMO is still at the Voodoo lounge atop the Rio.
Maybe an early morning start north would be worth it to see Zion or Bryce...or east to see the canyon.
We are staying at the Excalibur which is supposed to be a class hotel. I doubt if we will be doing much casino hoping. We are driving out there with our son. Neither me or my wife are in condition to be moving around much. My wife probably stay on one machine while she is there and I have no idea what I will do as i watched table games too many years and really don't want to play them.
We are staying at the Excalibur which is supposed to be a class hotel.
You may want to research the Excalibur, unless of course you are committed.
The theme there is "medieval" and they have a medieval dinner with a jousting event as their prime attraction. You will also see lots of kids, which I don't think belong in any casino. I have been in the Excalibur, but never stayed there, nor would I.
There are better choices, but I have no clue why you are going to Vegas and of course none of my business. Don't know when you were last in Vegas, or if at all, but again, do some research.
Smoke is everywhere unfortunately, but there may be some casinos that have a smoke free slot area...there is such a thing at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS. Perhaps the powers to be finally got the idea a lot of people don't like smoke. Personally, I can barely tolerate anyone playing BJ near me that smokes...cigars...I color up and leave.
I am so happy to see him sitting on the bench. I hope there is super glue in that spot. I will give the other guy some slack for right now and hope he does not get hurt because that is what usually create his downfall. The sox can always keep the super glue handy.
T minus 8 hours before the big beginning. I hope Cleveland has enough hot dogs on hand to keep our giant walrus busy while he is holding down the bench.
Some of the worst umpire calls on ball and strikes I've ever seen. The punchout to Shaw was disgraceful...waaaaaay off the plate and this with the bases loaded. Looked to me like the umpire was aligned off the correct line of sight. PATHETIC !!
Price wasn't as sharp as I thought he'd be...the ELEVEN pitch event to Napoli wasn't "Price-like", nor were the hits he gave up. We'll chalk that up to it being 34 degrees.
The fat guy came up to pitch hit with a man on third with 2 outs and he hit a shallow fly ball. He weighs so much the super glue did not hold him on the pine.
Good for Napoli...too bad he isn't still playing 1st base...thanks Ben.
El Gordo...well, he just sucks and really isn't worth many keystrokes. How can this mega millionaire not be read the riot act as the season closed last year about his weight?
No doubt an emotional game for Tito/Farrell...I wonder if Tito and Petey played some cribbage during the visit.
Ortiz is having the time of this life...good on ya Papi.
A great comeback for the Sox. Holt continues to solidify himself as a player who is destined to stay in a Red Sox uniform for many years to come. Great players make great plays under pressure...Holt may not have reached "great" status yet, but he's certainly on his way.
The new closer comes in and shuts the door...this from a 7-2 deficit. He does look a little bizarre with his seagull-like check with the catcher before he pitches...oh well, whatever works.
Fatty continues to pick splinters out of his backside...OH, BTW, if you were watching the NESN feed as I was, did you happen to notice the rah rah Red Sox ad that showed a bunch of players and basically extolling the team as a commercial? Everybody in there except El Gordo.
The Fatman is being shopped, no doubt about it, Dombrowski is trying to unload this friggin toad as fast as he can to allow Shaw the exclusive at 3rd base...with Brock as an obvious backup, who needs the Tubster? I suppose Farrell will play BO to at least get something out of his outrageous salary and keep him oiled up (if that's possible) so potential scouts can see his value...or lack thereof.
I must say, ZO appears to be doing well at 1st...this maybe because BO ain't throwin him the ball. We'll see as the season progresses. Remote...REMOTE possibity I might have a change of heart on ZO. He better get his stick goin', maybe he took a hint from the toad situation.
Bucky's gotta go, Rodriguez in his place. Porcello needs to get on his game, or he'll be loading his gear in the awaiting Timlin bus.
NICE win, looked like Toronto fans were swallowing maple leaves after the Holt uber-tater.
The Toad continues to burn his chances of recovery within the Red Sox organization. His throw to 1st today was so bush league as to be laughable....AS PREDICTED !!! It was a routine play that Shaw would accomplish in his sleep.
NO question that Dombrowski is trying to dump this clown.
Another nice Red Sox win...they add up for the times ahead when they slump.
El Sapo (The Toad), continues to choke...don't get much these days for $108.6k per game.
Pure physics tells us it takes a serious effort to get all that blubber moving in a coordinated effort to stoke the ball effectively. One would think this guy would stop sucking on the friggin twinkies and hit the weight room and make an effort.
I like that, El sapo, and yes, he is an embarrassment. His only job is to be in shape to be a professional athletes and perform on the field. I guess 19 million a year just isn't enough for that. Ugh.
Trade him to the worst team in the national league for a bag of baseballs and continue paying his salary. He might be able to make that team. I'm sure the baseballs will have some value.
I wish the sox would keep todays lineup on the field for more than one day at a time instead of just keep tinkering with it. Give them a chance to prove what they can do.

Enjoy your trip.

Geez, couldn't he become part of the grounds crew, you know, when it rains he can be one of the guys that rolls out the tarp.
Maybe the message is being received by his "former left fielder" buddy at 1st...message...shape up or you're gonna be toast in Fenway too.
GOOD LUCK RED SOX!
Have a great season.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
One win behind them only 99 more to go.

Bucky, you're inching your way to the Timlin bus.
You might want to rephrase that
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Painful to watch Joe Kelly
but it was a joy to watch the hitters stage a comeback and Tazawa, Uehara, and Kimbrell protect that one-run lead!
Kelly will probably come around but Buchholz is a lost cause.
The hitting has been nothing short of wonderful and Ramirez is working out great at first if he can stay healthy.
No comment of on fat boy except to say he looks great in his current position.
Great game tonight!

Not even near the 1st baseman and he is supposed to be such a good 3rd baseman.
His throws are either in the dirt or over the 1st baseman head.
He just plain sucks!
NO question that Dombrowski is trying to dump this clown.

Beyond INSANE.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I am not impressed with what I have seen so far.
still difficult to get used to expecting a last place finish
Memo to Bucky...the mullet makes you look like a doofus, better get your game going, on you're gonna be on the Timlin bus too.
El Sapo is laughing all the way to the bank. No question Dombrowski is trying to unload this tank...San Diego?
Gotta give credit to the Orioles, they are firing on all cylinders.
Pls don't make me regret getting the MLB package this year!! !!
But, I may cancel.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I didn't realize how dangerous sitting on the bench could be for a player. Poor el sapo wound up with a bum shoulder and a dl trip. Poor guy.
I just read the same thing and had the same thought! Maybe he fell asleep on the bench and bruised his shoulder when he fell onto the dugout floor.
http://m.redsox.mlb.com/news/a...h-left-shoulder-strain
Tough game tonight but they pulled it out.
Three catchers, when they need only 2.
Fat boy on DL.
I smell a trade coming up.
