An 1875-P Twenty Cent Piece

At long last I have completed my Twenty Cent Piece set, and no comments about the 1876-CC will be accepted. That one would make my bucket list only if I hit the $100 million lottery.
This coin has been harder to find than I ever thought it would be. I could have purchased at least five Proof coins to this piece in Mint State. I don't exactly understand why that would be since "the first of its kind" is often hoarded in some quantity.
This is the piece that came from the most recent Gardner sale. It was the piece that Gardner bought as a Proof in the 1990s, but when certified as a Mint State coin. I paid what thought was a high price for this one, but it's actually worth it. There is big price gap between MS-64 and 65, and this piece is high end for the 64 grade in my opinion. It also had not been dipped, although the color is a little uneven.
I have been looking for this coin for about two years. I had a couple of near misses on it before I ended up with this one. Of course "near miss" is a lose term because 25 other collectors placed an order for one I found early in my search.
Comments
I find the color to be pleasing and not too dark.
Strike looks very good, too.
I love the 20 cent piece both as a type coin and from the Seated design aspect.
Congrats!

You are not a huffin' on the 76-CC...(((whistle)))...probably could not be touched for less than six figures.

I saw one I liked at a Baltimore show although the purists would not have liked it because it was a white coin, which would have said "dipped" to them. The price was $575,000 which was a bit over my budget for that day.
Nice example.

Here is a link to the Heritage auction for this coin. The close-up photos on the site were a bit misleading. At some angles it looks like the "full slab" photos, but my photo is the most accurate in my opinion.

The big Heritage photos show a bit more color. But I like your photos, as well---I still see some blue and gold. I really like this piece's originality.

If you look at the coin in-hand, it is impossible to get the kind the color that shows up in the close-up photo. The photo is a bit too juicy.

I like it nonetheless.

Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
How about posting the entire set
Here is the easiest way to do that.

You will hate the 1875-S, but that is probably the way the coin looked to day it was struck. I've owned it for 20 years, and it has never changed in the holder, not even a little bit.

From XF to Au-58 even tougher. I still don't have a 1876. I've only seen a couple for sale on the dealer sites for quite some time.
I love all of those coins. What a set!

Thanks weird. Before I flipped through your set I noticed that your set ranking was #1. I went through all the images and went back to the set listing and your rank was #3. Surely that was a glitch and someone didn't bump you down that much that quickly.
I love all of those coins. What a set!
Thank you
There are three Twenty Cent Piece registry sets over there. I'm #3 for the made for circulation four piece set, #2 for the Proof coin set, and right now #1 for the complete Mint State and Proof set.
The fellow with #1 Proof set blows everybody out of the water. All for of his coins grade PR-67 or 68 with a couple of stars and cameos thrown in. Even if you could find those coins, it would cost a fortune to buy them. His point total is over 36,000 while my #2 set has just over 14,000 points.
Now that's funny.

First the Gold Dollars, now this.
Your latest 20-cent sure looks hammered.
You're on a roll and a sense of humor to boot.
Nice that NGC allows PCGS coins in the Registry.
It obviously is not reciprocated.
