Thank you for the nice words. In response to trying to bump which one are you referring to - '56 or '60? I have a couple at PSA now being reviewed so fingers are majorly crossed on them.
No I have not tried to bump it - picked it up at the National and had submitted some other cards for review. Maybe down the road I will try a bump on it.
After the National, I had another opportunity to pick up another Banks card, this time of the 1969 Topps variety. Here's a shoutout to Dnice for helping me track this one down. Thank you, Marc!
These two close out my 86 Panini Supersport golfers run, each a Pop 2 highest graded. Now I just need to send the Seve's (shown previously in this thread) in for grading.
and a nice addition for the Hagen registry set I'm very slowly chipping away at...
Would like to thanks Jeff (card country) for working a deal with me on the 57T Mantle. Jeff is a top notch dealer and all around great guy to deal with!

+1 on Jeff from Card Country. My son had a college fund but we thought it would be more fun to spend it on cards and hope for a scholarship . Saw that 57 Mantle and it is a beautiful card all around - great pickup.
This thread keeps getting better. Lots of great stuff, and a nice chunk coming from Jeff or other board members.
I just got a new addition that is a little out of place here from a pedigree perspective, but is potentially a nice add for me.
I was working from home last week(watching ESPN) when they announced this guy would be inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor. As a registry member for the Cowboys Ring of Honor, I knew I'd need to add a card to stay at 100%. I liked this one best and when contacted by PSA, this was my vote.
Not sure yet when decision will be made but I dig the pic and the black borders so I'm hopeful that this will win out.
Will be heading to Newport when I have enough to send.

Thank you sir. I am totally jealous of that 56T and 60T Mantle. Perfect centering and color on both of those. I have been looking for a centered 1960 Topps Mantle for quite awhile, both seem to be hard examples to find centered.
I have found as hard a thing with the 1960 Mantle is image quality. That card is either out of focus, has a horizontal print line at the top, has all kinds of PD, especially in the red box area, or even on his face. Sneaky tough card.

Agreed Matt. I have a PSA 6, but its not very pleasant to the eye (not 50/50 centered). I have been looking to upgrade it for sometime now. Jeff has a few 60Ts I have been eyeing. Just waiting for my funds to replenish after my Mantle spending spree!

Not a recent pickup, but it took over a year of searching to find one centered with as few of the issues as mentioned before I found mine. Not in the same grade others here are chasing, but I was happy to find the perfect combo of price and appearance. Be patient and the right one will come available.
i believe that 60 mantle 8 used to be mine..sold mine to him, prob wouldn't have to anyone else...ugh....i upgraded it to a 9 but still regret giving it up....figured having two would be a bit piggish....
congrTS on both...great to look at
Interested in higher grade vintage cards. Aren't we all.

So the Mantle PSA 8 from 1960 above used to be your card? Small world huh? I actually picked it up at Memory Lane at the National, and first time through I completely missed seeing the card at their table. Paid a decent price for it but it was fair and I thought it was as nice of a 1960 as I have seen around. Been very lucky with recent pickups, and most of that is due to some people helping me out.
Rob- Keith wanted the 60 Mantle that I got from you, but I couldn't break it out of the registry set that I sold as a whole. So he found another beauty to buy at the natty. I'm hoping I can wrestle it away from him though!

ah, im honored that my mantle made ur registry set......i want my mantle back...waaa .....boy u talk about sellers remorse...ha....
but like i said, only a great guy like you could get it out of my hands.....congrats on selling your registry set...awesome...(i hope they post it...it was an impressive set)
warning to all...jeffs persuasive powers can get any card out of your collection....he'll start with an 86 biggio then next thing you know, your packaging up your favorite mantle and getting signature confirmation to north carolina.....kidding of course

Boy did I ever want that card - along with the 1958 and 1962 you had. As much as I wanted them I would rather you had moved your registry set at the show like you did since that was a great set. Good thing is my budget for the National stayed intact and was not swayed to be used for other purchases. How many people can convince their wife to not buy stuff so they can buy cards instead! Just don't bother Jeff tonight so he can watch BB
I wanted to buy the 51 and 53T from that Registry Set right there on the spot. No dice. I tried everything short of having a barrage of beautiful actresses call him and beg for me, but I saw even that was not going to work!
What a month! Some major heat coming out for August. Some really beautiful Mantles, autos, that Frank Robinson, some amazing Star Co basketball stuff... that PSA 10 MJ is just absolutely gorgeous.
I love when Matt picks up something awesome. It usually means I get first crack at his old "junk". I used to get his hand me down Osh Kosh overalls as a kid now I get hand me downs like this
Sadly it's not in hand just yet. Still have to pay big brother off but I'm sure he doesn't mind me stealing the scan for now!
Matt, any chance you can find a PSA 11 MJ so I can have that 10?
All this Mantle love followed by a perfect Jordan is just blowing me away...all the stars are aligned, thanks for a great start to my morning...beautiful.
KendallCat-LOVE both of the Mantles. Really nice 56 and 60. Am I mistaken, dont you have that 56 Mantle in a 8.5 as well?
Michael, Thats such a nice 57 Mantle. I looked at that card hard at the Natty. Congratulations.
Matty-My favorite card right there. Love it. Congratulations. >>
Thank you for the kind words. Takes a while to find them and then make sure the old lemonade stand has printed enough money to pay for them! You are correct that I also have the 1956 in an 8.5 - actually trying to find another nice PSA 8 copy or two and another 8.5. Also trying to compete the full Mantle Topps run in PSA 8 or higher as well and off to a decent start. Don't think I will be doing the 1952 in an 8 though. Already named the 8.5 "freshman year" for the college fund, and the 52 would be "house" - don't think the wife would go for that one.
Hey Marc, that Play Ball Dimaggio is outrageous! Well done.
Nothing on that level, but a couple of recent odds and ends....
Went to a single A game yesterday between the Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland affiliate) and Connecticut Tigers. It was Ted Williams bobble head night. Not a good likeness, but also not the worst I've ever seen.
The other pickup is my 4th autograph for my 74 Topps Red Sox team set. If you follow the link, it doesn't yet include this auto or my signed Tommy Harper, because they haven't been slabbed yet. But here's Rico, via public signing.
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
