For what its worth guys, my Washington collection is live over at Great Collections. Some spectacular coins that spans the 32-98 set including most of the proof issues! While most of the collection is in NGC holders, there are some PCGS ones as well.
Here are a trio I call the triplets as I purchased them at the same time in the 1990s, submitted them once to PCGS in the 1990s and they all received the same MS67 grade with sequential cert numbers in the 1990s. When they were submitted to PCGS the population for the issue was all of 9 coins in MS67 and it "ballooned" up to an entire dozen from this group. Yes, they all now have CAC stickers, as well.
Well I have had the good fortune to find several varieties in this series to close out 2022. So this is probably the nicest variety that I purchased last week.
This is a 1943-D DDO FS-101. MS-66+ Pop 1 with 1 higher.

So I just added this coin to my registry set. 1942-P FS-801 DDR - AU-55. This variety has the most dramatic reverse doubling in the series. I have been wanting one of these for a long time.
Wow! That’s awesome. Why aren’t these more sought after or well known? It looks pretty major, and I’m guessing the doubling is visible without magnification.

Yes the doubling on that coin is amazing. They are very hard to locate as PCGS has graded 28 of them and only 12 in MS. I don't understand why it is not a major variety. I know the Buffalo Nickel has a 1935 DDR that is considered a major variety. PCGS has graded several hundred in all grades and 23 in MS. The doubling on the Nickel is minor compared to this coin. An AU-55 Buffalo Nickel goes for nearly $2,000 and an AU-55 Washington Quarter 1942 DDR goes for a few hundred dollars. Even though the pops are lower for the quarter and the doubling is more obvious it still does not get the recognition that I think it deserves.
Some day I would like a Mint State coin in this variety but I will have to wait.
I purchased this 1936-D from Elizabeth Coggan at FUN. MS 64.
I partcipate in the registry, do my own thing and avoid the competion side of it.
But i will say thay this shot me up 5 places, lol.

I think it is solid for the grade! Great purchase!! Your set is coming along nicely. Id focus on trying to find a nice 37S. It was always one of the more difficult coins in the set for me.
@erwindoc Just wanted to say Good luck on your upcoming auctions at GC and I believe I was going after the 37 s that you ended up buying. That is one nice coin and I picked up a MS 66+ after losing that coin and someone is going to like adding yours to there set.
@sparky64 Congrats on your newest addition and your set is coming along nicely. His 37 s would look nice in your set.
Jay, you are on a roll with these varieties and a few of them are higher grade than the ones in my set. So Congrats on working out a deal to add those to your growing Variety Set. Hopefully between us we can slow down Andy's progression. I have blown this months and next months budget on 1 coin and its in the Mail and will post pictures when I get the coin.
Thanks for your comments! The quarter auctions start ending this week and will roll for 4 weeks. Some beautiful colorful ones. I am a little disappointed with Great Collections that they did not get better images on the toned coins.
I have spent the last year searching for a 1935 S in MS 67 to replace my MS 63 Rattler and for some reason I noticed Heritage had a Sale Last night and there was a 35 s. Now I have pretty much spent my budget for the next two months on a coin in the mail so thought I would just watch this auction.
Of course the coin was talking to me crazy huh? I decided to throw one cut bid when the coin came up and next bid was 700 and my bid cut made it 675. No One else bid woohoo and thanks for the credit card no bill till March.
I also found this MS 67+ that is in my friends set and they almost look like brothers. what do you all think?

Tom,
I was watching that auction also and thought it went a little cheap. Glad to see it ended up in your set. Great looking coin for sure and yes it looks like those two coins have spent some time together. Great pair.
Congrats Jay on the 52 d ddo as that was another tough variety coin to find.
This is the coin I recently picked up. Tied for Top Pop and will upgrade the AU 55 that I have in my Set. For now I own 2 out of the 5 graded examples which is pretty cool.
Thanks once again to Dr. Phillips for holding the coin for me this past year. I will pull my AU out of the bank in a week or two as I really wanted to see two examples in hand to search for any pickup points. Now one would think this coin in the registry set would get more respect.
The rating on this coin is 130 in MS 64 the same amount is given for all the type B coins and there are hundreds of those. I sure wish our Host would spend some time revising the points given for the Variety coins since there has been nothing done since they started the Registry Sets in 2001.
Today I received a submission back from PCGS that includes some toned proof quarters from 1954 to 1960. When Trueviews of these coins are available I will post them to this thread.
I have spent countless hours looking at Washington quarters for upgrades and varieties. This variety is by far in the top 3 for rarity in my opinion. With only 5 listed in PCGS it will always be on the want list for many of us.
@1tommy said: @P0CKETCHANGE Nice coins and really like the 1943 and great true views.
@erwindoc Congrats on your recent sales and was wondering how you felt that it all went?
I was a little surprised on how low some of the NGC star coins went. The population on some of them is quite low! Better date coins did well as did the CAC coins.
@NorCalJack I like the obverse toning on that one.
Here's my latest acquisition, which brings me to 70% set completion. This one's a 66, but my ideal grade for this date/mm is 66+, so I'll still be looking.
I've begun a basic proof version of this series as a side project. Colorful proofs like @SanctionII in 66 & 67 has posted is the goal. Hey, maybe he could be my drug supplier?
This project won't be a competitive endeavor and I'm hopeful that it will not consume me to the detriment of my other collecting goals! Here's one just acquired from Bonnie Sabel:

Some really nice coins shown throughout this post. If anyone has extra variety Washington quarters or MS66+ coins let me know. I have a few varieties I still need. My goal is to get a MS66+ or better for each year through 1998. Closing in on the latter but still need one for 32, 34, 37, 38, 40, 61, 65, 67, 81, 82, 84, 86, 86, 87, 88, 91, 92, 93 and 94. I also have some extra raw varieties and many MS66 coins to trade. Send me a PM and we can see if we can help each other out. These Washington quarters are a lot of fun aren't they? If you want check out my regestry sets CBTL.

My set is essentially all gone. I kept two silver coins that were duplicates. I thought Id share them here. Ill rebuild again in the future though.
What is going on with the 53-D? On the reverse above the Q near 8 o'clock, is that a die clash going onto edge?

Nice looking toned 1969 Proof Quarter. Have fun collecting them (you can hunt at local shows and shops for raw clad SMS and Proof quarters from 1965-1998 and find them on occasion for sale at about $1.00 - $2.00; and if you are lucky you can pick up some beautiful multi colored coins, including those with frosted devices and mirrored fields).
Here are photos of some 1965-1970 SMS and Proof quarters I had graded. I also have many dated in the 1970's-1980's that are still raw. They are also stunners.
This is a new arrival that I’m quite pleased with—a very lustrous 59-D in a 66+ holder. PCGS Pop 17, only 27 higher. The low pops for this date/mm are surprising as the purchase price seemed quite reasonable.
