It took us 3 weeks and some extra help from our part-timers, but we fixed a major complaint with our website. We went through every single item that is on our website, inventoried the exact number in stock, and added that number to the website. Therefore, when anyone places an order now, if it goes through it will be filled. If you try to place and order a quantity of 5 and we don't have 5, it will make you enter a new number. It will keep asking you for a new quantity if we don't have the amount you are requesting. Once we sell out of an item (which would happen a lot at night when we couldn't control the inventory) it will go to zero and not let you order at all. Therefore, once your order goes through, you will get what you ordered.
Of course, small mistakes will be made. But for now, you can be pretty assured you will get filled on any completed orders.
Thanks! Steve

Probably because the pricing is on the high side. However, there aren't a ton of case fresh vending boxes floating around so that should command a premium.

It was always agonizing to wonder how much of your order, if any, would be in stock. This was my #1 complaint with the site, and I am sure I wasn't alone, so this is awesome news indeed!

I don't consider vending unopened and Grote15 isn't much of an 80's guy so stock up while you can.

<< <i>Say goodbye to the '79 vending. They're gone. >>
This run may take a whole 24 hours to sell out. Too bad we couldn't do a group vending case break on here. Then everyone could post scans of all 500 cards from each vending box.

Great fix Steve, thanks.
How soon until someone tries to resell one of these on the BST board or Ebay? Hopefully its mostly collectors buying these and not "flippers." While there is nothing inherently wrong about flipping (its just capitalism at work) but nonetheless disappointing for the collectors and vending box "rippers" who arent fast enough.
Wonder what % of the 1979 vending boxes get opened?
<< <i>That was quick on the 1979s.

On a serious note, I'd love to know how many 79 boxes went to CU members. Something inherently cool about the "fraternity" ravaging the stash. My contribution to the cause was 79 (2) & 80 (1).
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
<< <i>Whew. A good sign, methinks. When Steve started to ratchet it up a few notches, I was very curious to see what was going to emerge from the woodwork. Was getting a little nervous there for a few months, but now that we've crossed back into the 70's with some case fresh goodness, we're building some mo, yo. But let's not rest on our laurels! lol

24 boxes per case. The winner of this auction made a very good investment five years ago! Maybe this was the case BBCE broke?
1979 Topps Vending Case
Just kidding. Mine are going to reside safely unopened in my collection for some time. I am glad I picked up what I did before they sold out. My tally:
1 79
1 81
1 82
3 83
3 84
1 85
I passed on the 80 for budget reasons. I decided I would rather get the 3 83's and 3 84's than the one 80. If there's an 80 left by the time I wake up tomorrow I may talk myself into it by then.
Oh well. That completes my 80-85 vending run. I think I'm glad I missed the 79s.
Good luck to all.
<< <i> I doubt anyone but Chris (nikklos) will open these, lol...I may do it one night, though, for one of patented late night rips! >>
Better believe it! I'll invest in Lockheed Martin - this stuff is for ripping!
Glad the '79s are gone so I'm not tempted. Never been happy with my 1979 subs. It must be the horrible stock they used. And don't understand the whole Ozzie Smith thing. Hoping for some fresh Hendus in my 1980 box though!
If you want to invest in baseball cards, you should buy CLCT instead. Takes up less space!

<< <i>How can you tell if a 1980 Topps vending box is unsearched? I know there is an edge pattern, but I not familiar with what it should look like. >>
I think edge pattern is the best way to tell. You may also be able to see a break in the paper on the top flap crease if it had been opened in the past. The best way to ensure they are unsearched is to by them directly from BBCE when they crack an unopened case!

Thanks. I have one sitting on the shelf that I bought from a local dealer years ago. It's still in the original bubble wrap he used to store it. I was debating about opening it, but so far have resisted the temptation.
<< <i>I feel like I bought a 1980 vending from BBCE about 6 months ago at $175. Now they are at $330!! Wow!! >>
I think there's definitely a premium for being case fresh. I think loose vending boxes are more difficult to authenticate than other unopened forms.

Definitely the case. The sealed case adds a nice premium, imo.
