So, contrary to my normal behavior, I bought an 84T BB rack box from a sealed case back in September for $100. It was in such great shape, I decided to keep it sealed (believe it, or not ). After looking at the site last night and seeing them for $150, I decided to blast mine. Back to back racks with Mattingly, then Strawberry on top. Yee-hah...then the box from oc hell. 2 cards going to psa from the whole box... ripping is getting less and less feasible all the time.
1. I stared long and hard and thought about the 82 rack boxes last night but passed with the vending purchases the day before. i have to draw the line somewhere financially?

- I can guarantee you i had an OC box from that same case. purchased the box from a sealed case from them back in $100. opened half the box and it was f8ckin disgusting OC. i didn't even pull 1 mattingly, but didn't care. didn't want to keep opening knowing 97% of cards were OC (which is crazy for 84)

I think I have the 3rd one -- I picked up one for the same price after National last year. Mine is sealed still, likely going to stay that way.
<< <i> 1. I stared long and hard and thought about the 82 rack boxes last night but passed with the vending purchases the day before. i have to draw the line somewhere financially? >>
Yeah, about that. Between the vending boxes, the group rip, the 83 grocery racks last week...I *should* have passed on the 82 racks. So I only bought one.
I probably have a box from that case too. I bought mine when they posted all their new stuff shortly after the national. I too paid $100 for a box. No good hits, but I also bought a 84 cello box that had a Mattingly on top.
The hits were ok, an additional Mattingly and Strawberry inside packs as well as a couple Ryan/Rose/Sandberg/Boggs/Gwynn, but every single one of em the worst centering as a group I have ever seen from 84. So yeah, those of you that still have your post national, $100 boxes sealed, keep them that way.
Was cool to get the Mattingly on front pack though, oc or not.

Yeah, but did you buy it at 2am. . Well, we know where 3 of the 4 boxes went. I bet the odds are good another CU member got the last box. Are you opening your box George?
I'm surprised the 1985 Fleer Cello Box has lasted as long as it has with a Ryan cello to boot. I may have to sell some more boxes just to make room for the new stuff, LOL.

The Kung-Fu pack is always calling out to me. That and the Donruss Disney pack.
No you got me there. It was definitely not at 2am maybe 5:30 at the latest yes that's pm.
Yes the 82 box will remained sealed and safe - it's the first real rack box I am adding to my collection - I have some 88's that i was going to open to build a set but then i figured that would be just stupid and bought the set - which was probably also stupid
For those who bought the 79 vending at $440 directly from Steve it certainly doesn't look like a bad price so far. The one on eBay wasn't even marked from a sealed case.

I am a bit curious as to the thoughts on "from a sealed case" for vending from BBCE. An earlier post thought Steve only sold vending from case breaks.
I could be wrong, but years ago, when I was buying vending from Steve, (well before he had his new cello wrap)-he still did his regular cello wrap, I don't think he really differentiated between from a sealed case or not.
I am sure there are a lot of us with nice (and older) vending boxes from Steve (BBCE) that have his authentication, but does not say "from a sealed case" even though it may very well have come from one.
I think he did it for 70's vending years ago when they were available. I don't recall him doing it for 81's on up as it was probably not worth the effort, at the time, to do it for $40 boxes that sold very well on his site. He simply had to state in the description that they were from a freshly cracked case. I've bought baseball 80's, 83s and 85's from him with no wrap. I did buy 3 1981 football from him where the pattern looked good but wasn't wrapped. I thought they were from a sealed case and was surprised they didn't have the wrap. Only pulled one PSA 4 Montana in those. However the 1980 baseball, the Rickey Henderson I pulled looks like an easy 9.
