I've got to tip my cap to BBCE. Their facebook coverage has been outstanding and they've put up a TON of incredible photos with anecdotes about sales. I hope this continues through the whole show as I'm having a ton of fun following along.
I've seen PSA 7s from 1971 Topps baseball bring over $800 at auction, so I am thinking $20K for a 1971 Topps baseball box would be possible. However, the spread between BBCE's published buy prices (in this case $8K) and sell prices usually doesn't exceed 100%.
<< <i>Holy Wax Trays!!! Curious what the 72 trays are going for, as well as the 77, 79, and 80.
Anyone? >>
A baseball 72 tray? I'd estimate retail price, depending on condition, about $1,200. For 77, about $300. 79s and 80s go for about $70 now retail. Trays from 78 and earlier are tough to find. I have never even seen a 71 (or 73) tray, though I have seen a 69 and 70 tray.

Those prices are probably in line when you factor in the BBCE premium.

You guys are the BEST. Thanks so much for the quick replies. Now the question is...How much, if any, of that stuff makes it back to the shop?
52-90 All Sports, Mostly Topps, Mostly HOF, and some assorted wax.
One thing not mentioned here yet is the 1989 Score football vending boxes they've got. Can honestly say I'd never heard of them before they posted the pics.
How much of this stuff is going to be ripped in the next year, how much is going to be accumulated away and how much is going to affect the unopened market . I see lots of 70s stuff there and I wish I was there.
Standing in the VIP line waiting for 330 entrance. Will let you guys know what's up when I get there and finish buying. I've targeted several things I hope BBCE has.

C'mon Manny, quit buying all the good stuff and tell us what you got.

The 86 Fleer box had one pack with Jordan RC on top and Jordan sticker on back. He also had a second 86 fleer box with two packs that had Jordan RC on top that sold for 25K
This is a 1979/80 Topps Basketball wax case. See that sticker on the case? I can't say with 100% certainty, but I think that's a Topps inventory sticker. A lot of cool stuff that's been coming out of the Topps archives have these tags with their internal codes.
This 1986/87 Fleer Basketball wax box has a pack with a Jordan rookie on top and a Jordan sticker on back! The odds on a pack like this is 1 in 1,452 - and probably almost impossible to find. Steve has only graded one pack like this. This box also sold this morning for $25,000.
1993 SP Baseball Foil Case - factory sealed, for now. Two dealers just bought the case and are going to crack it tonight!

I bought the 1974 topps cello pack with Yaz on top. Also, my brother had given me a hundred dollar bill for my bday to buy a wax box for my pc so I bought a 1985 Topps baseball.

My first stop ... BBCE. I picked up the 70 rack and 74 rack seen in the last posted picture. Steve and staff were very busy. I just missed out on a graded 70 wax pack with the high number Nolan Ryan showing on the bottom of the pack. The submission lines at PSA were so long, I walked away and came back over an hour later, only to wait another 25 or 30 minutes. Good to see Steve and some old friends from back in the day. Good show from my standpoint, going in again on Friday, gotta work tomorrow, and pay off some of this stuff.
Capitals ... thanks for showing the pics! Even though I don't have facebook, I was PM'd their site, so I can now follow the pics they put up.

Finished up the sneak peak. Unopened is king. The BBCE booth is by far the best display. Not just in terms of product but its overall much more professional looking than 95% of the other booths. Spent first 15 minutes there and I am pretty much done for the rest of the week! Met Eric(thosebackpages) and newbi BH(Bob). My overall impression of the 1st day----lots and lots of raw cards. I mean a ton. Some dealers had their tables so disorganized it was tough to see what they had. Wondered why they were here. Also tons of new stuff. I think more new shiny stuff than vintage. Also looked for stuff that others wanted--no luck boys! I came primarily to buy unopened and am pretty satisfied with what I got. I am looking forward to meeting up with board members tomorrow
I'm just hoping some of it makes it back to the warehouse.
The prices they are getting are amazing. I had a conversation with my 10 yr old the other day -- he asked if maybe next summer we could go to the National. Was explaining to him the costs of going (airfare, hotel, admission, + buying stuff + autographs). I told him that for it to be worth it for us to spend that money to go, I'd need $20k to spend AT the national to make it worth it, plus a really good explanation for his mother why I spent $20k on baseball cards when we already have too many. Considering that my annual budget for cards is a very small percent of that number...it's probably not going to happen.
I'm beginning to think that $20k wouldn't have lasted me very long.
I literally had the money in my hand to buy (3) 1985 Topps FB cello boxes when the guy in front of me decided to buy two of them. Sort of a bummer.
Their selection is amazing today, which makes me wonder just what it looked like in their booth yesterday. Frankly, the rest of the room was a bore in comparison.
The rest of the show is like a vast wasteland as far as older unopened goes. Very little around. Well, I was able to find an SP Jeter box at Dave and Adams but I didn't see any others.
lotta stuff blew off the shelves at BBCE. They still have:

Dude, they will have another 1970 rack pack for sale, as soon as the shrink wrap machine is fired up!
Overall, a great display by BBCE, much more than I expected after the drought this year. Hope they can keep the shelves stocked.
