Yes, thank you. What I find interesting is the curve with zero as the mean. Can you print the out too? I figured this group would of been more on the positive side but instead it's like a random sampling.
Who knows. Only five more months to go. A friend drove one and it was a life changing event. He's been a car nut hotrodder for 60 years. Had it for e week, only charged it three times and put 700 miles on it. Smooth, quiet, scary quick if pushed and well deserving of car of the year he said.

Investors need to learn to differentiate between a company's product and its stock price.
TSLA has a valuation that says it is the 358th largest company in the world and 220th in the USA. TSLA does as much business in a year as Wal-Mart does in 36 hours. And much of TSLA's income is from the backs of the taxpayers in the form of credits and subsidies. It probably defies gravity for a bit longer, but isnt a stock for me.
strong stock price combined with poor product line or marketing equals declining stock price.
Success of product/service is everything when looking for success in an equity. While expectation can drive up an equity, it takes product and sales to keep it up.

Also a much stronger stock price combined with a strong product line can result in a declining stock price. IE, look at gold over the last 2 years.

Absolutely. Outside influences (manipulation) such as leaking a false negative story about a product or having the banks under your regulatory control short the market can drive a solid stock (or precious metal) down.

My thought was something less sinister and realistic such as prices simply getting ahead of fundamentals. There need not be any negative stories or collusion. Human emotion is much more volatile than fundamentals and usually pushes prices higher or lower than can be supported. Way too much credit is given to banks and other political entities.
Yes, thank you, that is it. I find it interesting that it is so centered. What would a random sampling look like? What would the picks from the top 56 investment companies look like? I just figure the bottom of that curve would be around 10 or 15 for this group (or maybe 40-45). But it is only a game so risks were taken for the games sake I suppose..
Dr. Buster up 40%+ in the last two weeks. Two guys have more than doubled their initial stake. And the fun cointinues (yes, I spelled it that way intentionally).
It's difficult to think of a reason a person wouldn't have at least a few dollars invested in their best ideas, either directly or because their picks represent an asset by proxy
It was starting to look like it was not going to be possible to catch the two entrants who picked TSLA, as that stock was on FiRe!! However, now that the cars are catching fire, the stock is somewhat cooling off
It needs a little correction. The spin has spun and the spinner will buy low again. Just because of one indecent of hitting something in the road we have the faulty battery pack scare. "This was not a spontaneous event," Jarvis-Shean said. "Every indication we have at this point is that the fire was a result of the collision and the damage sustained through that.". Next thing we'll hear is 'Tesla, the next Pinto'. When in reality I believe each of the 1000+ batteries in the pack has it's own thermal cutoff sensor so the heavy footers can't force a pack to fail under high load conditions.
My wife runs a car shipping business and for the past year I have seen many Model S Tesla needed to be shipped to customers all along the West Coast. BUT, yesterday I saw 3 that needed to be flat bedded back to Fremont as inoperables.
Agree that the revenues at Tesla and Netflix will have to really accellerate, as predicted to support those lofty stock prices
As for biotechs, well that's a sector not an individual company, and as a group they've had a good year so far One ETF that's up about 40% YTD, maybe due for a pullback and stockholders have been looking for an excuse to take profits, what better trigger than a "shutdown of the federal government"?
Here's an Article about valuation of biotech stocks. The reasons for investing in gold coins are far different from the reasons for investing in these types of companies that make medicine (or "picks and shovels" used to to manufacure precursors, equipment and sensors, diagnostics, etc.), but both asset classes have been good to me the past 10-15 years, and despite taking some profits here and there, I remain invested in both gold coins and stocks during corrections
As for biotechs, well that's a sector not an individual company
Absolutely. The biotech arena is littered with companies that have returned 500-1000% over the past 4 years. But I see problems, especially over the next 20 years, where the law of diminished returns will reassert itself. And by this I mean "the system" will reduce or stop paying the costs of new drugs.
Of even bigger concern is the role of humans playing God. We strive for longer life. The big drug companies claim success in extending human life, but I contend that isnt the case. We may have extended the AVERAGE human life, but humans do not live longer than they did 200 years ago. Lets compare the longevity of a few famous Americans....
John Adams died at age 90. James Madison lived to 85. Ben Franklin died at 84. John Jay lived to age 83. Thomas Jefferson---83. George Washington--67.
Are those ages any different than we might expect from a group of 6 men today? Some might even argue that these guys lived longer than a similar group might live today.
So in short, we have helped people extend their average lives, but at what cost? And at what level of dignity?

Yup, it is in a real nice trend channel the top of which is currently about $340. It is a momo stock so it can have a life of its own (for a finite time), then gravity reasserts itself. There is a gap to 180 then 110. These gaps will be filled over the next 24 months.

Both are showing negative divergences but are dangerous to short right now. Not every stock is actionable and these are, imo, best to ignore.

<< <i>After the end of the third quarter (close enough), four entrants have more than doubled their initial stake >>
I sure hope they have real money in their picks. I know I only have money in 1 of the 3 picks I made.
It was starting to look like it was not going to be possible to catch the two entrants who picked TSLA, as that stock was on FiRe!! However, now that the cars are catching fire, the stock is somewhat cooling off

Now they will be forced to do a secondary at a much lower price thus driving the stock even lower. I can see a 38% retracement.
Same for NFLX.
Biotechs will soon be biowrecks.

<< <i>My wife runs a car shipping business and for the past year I have seen many Model S Tesla needed to be shipped to customers all along the West Coast. BUT, yesterday I saw 3 that needed to be flat bedded back to Fremont as inoperables. >>
Cohodk....WOW...that window of seeing 3 Teslas being returned is very revealing!
How do we short that?
Good info, thanks.
This might be true, to an extent, for stocks like Apple, Google, Netflix, and there are many many examples from the past, like Dell and Microsoft.

<< <i>Netflix still has some bite left ..nice jump today Cohodk >>
Yup, it is in a real nice trend channel the top of which is currently about $340. It is a momo stock so it can have a life of its own (for a finite time), then gravity reasserts itself. There is a gap to 180 then 110. These gaps will be filled over the next 24 months.

Most of the winners are from the technology, health care, and "consumer discretionary" sectors
