Every time. We live far and didn't pay for expedited shipping. So we wait. But typically you have nicer weather than the people with their packs. So maybe it works out.

I received mine yesterday. My appreciation goes out to BBCE for the superb packaging.

Two packs of 1989 UD yielded a nice Randy Johnson rookie.

One cello each of 1982 and 1983 Topps yielded minimal star power. One off-center 1983 Molitor and some LL cards.

Remaining cellos show no one of particular importance. They'll be saved for a rainy day.

Are there any low pop 1982/1983 cards worth submitting?

  • My packs were mostly duds. 75 Topps football yielded a couple of decent looking commons. 81 Topps football was pretty much a waste. 84 Topps football had a few good looking commons. 86 Topps football was a dud. Empire Strikes Back cards were pretty fun to open, got a super sharp Bobba Fett.

so far opened 1 87 bkball, 1 88 bkball, 1 85 fb wax, and some UD baseball.

the 87 fleer bkball was the best, actually nearly identical pack as someone posted already with Bird, Kareem, Barkley, and Mullin.

88 Bkball had another Bird, and (H)Akeem.

    89 UD was a bust

85 Topps FB were centered really really well. Got a nice Payton RB, but a corner is a little touched. Collecting 85 topps football is maddening.
  • Haha, i didn't really think of that. I guess you could say that i had "Fett Mojo"..........atleast thats what the kids are calling it these days.

  • << <i>got a super sharp Bobba Fett >>

Is that Bobba Fett's RC Auto?

    :-)
  • Yes, it is a super rare serial numbered 1/1(actually 5/20,000- 5 being that it came from Episode 5 so its a 1/1) "Cut" auto Rookie card. Very tough pull and very condition sensitive. Also I am selling it because its part of a "Large Estate Sell" and it was part of a "Set Break"..................that takes care of most of the cliches.

Is it a Super Atomic Gold Refractor with a piece of Boba's Game Used Relic Phaser Rifle?

Now i think we covered everything...

What about the 1 of 1 from Episode 6 - a dual Fett / Sarlaac game used DNA card.
  • This entire converstaion has taken a strange turn from my original "Super Sharp Bobba Fett" comment..........but it is quite funny. Pretty soon we will be talking about movie used pieces of his helmet and Slave 1.

    Here is the helmet undisturbed:

Here is a Topps employee getting ready to RIP the helmet apart and slice it up for use in the cards:

Has anyone pulled a Fouts, Blount, Bleir or Theismann rookie from teir '75 packs?

  • << <i>Has anyone pulled a Fouts, Blount, Bleir or Theismann rookie from teir '75 packs? >>

I know i didn't get anybody of note. I think the best guy i pulled was a Len Dawson.
  • would anyone mind posting some scans of some Star Wars cards?
  • When i get home from work i will scan a few and put them on here.
  • Package finally arrived today. This was obvious.

  • I got my package in just now. Woot!! But I put them away for a rainy day. I have too much other cards to organize and dont need to add to the mess right now. But the potential is very exciting!! image

I received my delivery here on the west coast.

The 75 cello baseball looks really nice. Nobody of consequence showing, but I'm not ripping anyway.

Three packs of 86/87 Fleer basketball summary:
    - No Jordan sticker. I have Dr. J, Thomas, and Bird
    - Base cards showing are Benoit Benjamin, Tom Chambers, and Reggie Theus.

Unless it is known where in the packs the sequence changes and to where the sequence jumps to, I'm probably going to leave them sealed.

I will be ripping the 89 upper deck - that will be a fun blast from the past for me.
  • It arrived!

    image

Top left corners of 1976 packs have some wear/small holes. No stars on cellos.
  • Got my box and ripped all except one for my pack collection. No big hits but did get some nice cards in the 84T FB packs. Half were centered almost perfectly, the other half, not so much. The 81T FB had some mildew damage and were OC. Keep those sealed! Otherwise, I hit a few HOF's but nothing big.
  • uhh breaker 1-9 this here's the rubber duck you got a copy on me pig pen come on ?
ahh yeah 10-4 pig pen fer sure fer fer sure it;s clean here to flagtown come on ?
yeah that big 10-4 there pig pen yeah we definitely got the back door good buddy mercy sakes alive looks like I got some suckvoy.

There goes my 112 dollar attempt at getting a 76 Aaron in pristine condition. Rest all else nada worth pictures of.

Next rip please alimighty BBCE rip master ?
  • This is my lot for today. The 76 Baseball has a small tear in the top left corner as well. Looks like the corners are dinged. I'll find out another day. On the back of the pack is Cliff Johnson, so nothing big there. The 75 Football has Rich McGeorge on the bottom. The cellos have no huge stars. The 83 has Dave Winfield on the bottom.

  • Free for the taking, all the commons. Took out 6 cards from the below packs, rest will send for free to anyone interested. First 'ugh' gets. PM an addy (no concern if a fake addy, the cards will be shipped there)

    2 91 topps traded
    2 76 baseball
    1 80 baseball
    2 84 donruss
    1 81 football

Monthly rips would be cool. Scheduled and on time so us folks with a budget, at least on cards, could plan. NASCAR BOXES !!!

Update on the above. User with initials BA has taken these commons.

  • Shipment came Thursday. Didn't open until Friday as I was away on business. Everything was in great shape. Pulled a Gretzky in both the 81 and 87 hockey. 81 is OC, and the scratch off area does not seem pristine, but the 87 is awesome, except for a ever-so-small ding on the left side. There were some other stars (Lanny MacDonald, Grant Fuhr, Daryl Sittler) in the hockey packs.

Baseball - pulled some HOF (Seaver, Morgan, Carew - very nice specimen) and some stars (Dwight Evans, Jack Morris). All in all a good rip for my first one. I have some cards I will be adding to my PC.

I also pulled a 1984 Roger LaFrancois. Who dat?? He was the 3rd catcher on the Red Sox in 1983. Appeared in only 10 games in his only season (mostly as a backup) and went 4-10. For whatever reason, he was my favorite player that year (ulitimate bench warmer??). I got a good chuckle when I opened the box and saw his card staring up at me from one of the cellos.

Will post some scans later today. I have a lot of running around to do. Business takes me to LA tomorrow so I only have 24 hours at home.

BTW - anyone know of any/reccomend card shops in either Irvine, CA, Atlanta, or Baltimore? That's where I am heading the next few weeks and would love to check some out if I can find them.

  • I once found an old group rip box from BBCE that I never opened(Prob came in during a busy month) and in there were some 76 Topps wax packs. I went ahead and busted a few and was surprised about the number of cards in them. 7 just doesn't seem like a lot and leaves much to be desired. Thanks for sharing!

HankAint, I'll take those commons if nobody else has claimed them!

I got my packs yesterday and started to dig in. I checked the '84 cellos to see if I had anything stars before digging in. I couldn't see one of the names, but saw about 5 years worth of stats, so no problem right, time to break it open................for those who don't know, Don Mattingly's stats on his '84 rookie card go all the way back to 1979. Yep, I opened up a pack with Mattingly on the back that would have graded at least an 8 and found a 6 (at best) Don Mattingly rookie inside. So I'm bummed at this point and I feel like my luck is probably all gone. I went on to '84 fleer wax and find a Strawberry Rookie, but it's got a major issue on an edge and would grade a 4. An 8 would have been nice, but it was still fun to pull that card. I bought tons of those packs as a kid and never pulled one.

Then I dig into the '88 fleer basketball and see nothing on the back of the first pack so I crack it open and there is a Magic, a Stockton and Isiah Thomas inside. The condition is good enough and I'm enjoying myself at this point. Then I take a look at the back of the other '88 fleer basketball pack and there's a Jordan Sticker there. I don't remember getting this lucky in some time. I shot myself in the foot and still came out ahead. Very fun rip and I still have some unopened packs.

  • I am working on the 1987/88 and 1988/89 fleer basketball sets. So if anyone is interested in selling their nicely centered commons, please send me a PM.

Opened my packs this weekend. Got a few nice pulls from the '84 and '86 football including a Marino RC. Also pulled a Mike Gartner RC (off center) from '80 hockey. The 84 and 86 football were pretty nice, mostly centered well and pretty sharp. The '80 hockey were mostly off center. First time participating in the rip and was a fun experience. Pretty excited about pulling the Marino.

I am trying to attach photos, but they are too large and will not work as attachments on here & I do not belong to any online photo sharing service. How do most of you guys post your photos on this forum?
