I paid earlier today and was unable to post until now d/t work.

I added 1 1980 Topps baseball rak-pak, as he only had 1 left, and I added 6 more 1980 Topps baseball cellos, so I believe I should have 8 total 1980 cellos. I should be coming up on an entire box of these. Wouldn't you know it that I ended up winning the only 1980 Topps baseball wax box, instead of the cello box. image

    Thanks Steve!!!!!!!

    Have a great w/e everyone!

    Paul.

    Later, Paul.

    (2) 73-74 Basketball Packs

The packs have been paid for - forgot to add 73-74 Basketball packs to the PayPal title.

    Thanks

  • A heads up to all that purchased any 84 and 86 Topps Football. I have been searching for a decent example of the 84 Roger Craig RC and the 86 Mark Bavaro Rc to submit raw. If anyone is lucky enough to get one and doesn't want it please let me know. I understand I will hear about putting this in the BST, which I will, but this seemed like a good place to put it also. Thanx and good luck fellow rippers image I am super stoked about the Hockey more than anything else and was hoping to add more of the 84-85 OPC as it is my favorite looking 80s set and has most of my wanted PC hits.
  • So do I estimate about 40 thousand spent on this rip ? Is that a record ?

BBCE said on their Facebook page that this was a $41,192 rip, and it was a record.

  • << <i>Guys,

I talked with Steve today and he told me the packages will start shipping on Monday. He apologizes for the delay but said the are so far behind they think they are in first. They are still unpacking from the National and are down help. Hopefully this won't be an issue for anyone and he wanted me to relay the information to you.

Tell him I live close by and would be happy to stop by and help... I can be paid in packs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peter, we didn't sell out (I think there were 7-10 left.) Call or email Steve and tell him you want (2) more if he has them still. I am sure he would give you the 10% discount.

My package from Steve was waiting for me when I got home from work today. I did a quick check of the contents to make sure all 37 packs were present and correct. I was pleasently surprised to notice that one of the 1982 racks has a Nolan Ryan showing on the back. All these packs will be ripped when I get a chance. For now they got put away in the closet.

    Thanks for reading

Well I ripped 31 of my 37 packs last night and pretty much got shut out. Here's the only cards worthy of scanning. I havn't decided if I want to rip the 1972 baseball and the other 75 basketball pack yet. The other 4 packs will be opened some time later tonight. Hopefully I can get something worth subbing. Still had a blast tearing into them though!!!

  • My rip went fairly well.

81 Topps Football in 79 wrappers was a bust. A waxy front Joe Greene and Jack Lambert are the only notable cards.

85 Topps Football got me a Dan Marino, Walter Payton (o/c), and a nice 49ers and Bears Team Leaders cards.

83 Topps Baseball netted a Ryne Sandberg card rookie card. The only problem was that the gum warped the top 13 cards, and the Ryno was the second closest to the gum, so I won't be subbing it. A shame because it's nicely centered, but warped.

83 Fleer Baseball was meh. One of the packs had the Stargell and Rose on the front, and I thought about not opening it. That thought lasted about 2 seconds. I also got a nice Rickey Henderson too. But it's got a damn edge dimple, so much for subbing it.

All four groups have some nice commons though. I'll find some to sub.

Yeah, Mark but that pack just had a Pirate and a Phillie.

stillyz, the wax should come off your Greene if you rub it with some pantyhose, on the front it comes off nicely

the Ryno should flatten out on a cardsaver or top loader, put in under a couple books too. unless it is stained by the gum it should be submitted

Mean Joe's was the first card on the top of the pack. Consequently, the corners are slightly nicked, surface isn't the best, and the centering is o/c to the bottom. Won't get subbed anyway.

Meanwhile, the Ryno is going in a CS 1, into four big phone books with a cinder block on the top. That process has worked in the past for me.

It might be just a hair o/c to the right and o/c to the bottom. Back is well-centered and clean.

Mark, plz don't ban me from any future rips because of my ignorance of the commandments.... :-)

    << <i>Received my 2 cello, 2 wax and 28 '79 racks today!

In true BBCE fashion, everything was packed nicely, and there were several racks with stars on top (Reggie Jackson, Gary Carter etc) ... oh and for you sequences out there, wanna guess who's behind Mr. Mejias? image

Everything you see (aside from the racks with stars on top) are literally on the chopping block.

  • i ripped my two 1986 fleer packs tonight. no jordan. dunno if any other cards are worth looking at. i got a kareem and an isiah sticker. they were both on the bottom which means the back of them have a sort of film on it, i assume affects the grade??
