Hate to beat a dead horse but we went from a PSA Mint 9 auto card of Don Larsen to a raw Mays that was rough as hell to start with but to top it off, it has also been written on. I just don't get it???

Hey guys... Sorry, I've been away for a week. Let me refresh the offering with something else.

How about a signed Topps giant of Killebrew? Just the card, not the frame.

I hope you don't think I'm a "take a good card and offer crap" kind of guy. I think I've offered many nice cards on the PIF thread. Sorry if this one wasn't so good. image

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

  • Waiting to jump in on this thread, and the PIF thread....but I doubt it is going to happen. If you look at the trend in both, the offerings get better, and better, until somebody swipes up a sweet card, and offers up a bunch of low grade garbage. 9 times out of 10, someone comes in and takes the garbage to "move the thread along".....offerings get better and better....then someone makes out like a bandit again, and offers up a bunch of low grade junk in return.

It is funny to see some of the cards that have been taken, and then what the poster offers up immediately after.....it is ridiculous. "I will take the PSA 10 Marino rookie card"....Next up, who wants a pair of PSA 7 Pacific Nolan Ryan Express cards?......he's a HOFer, whats the problem?

I think when someone puts the "Ill take it" up, they should say to themselves right then and there......."I need to offer up something that I WOULD take in trade for the card i just took....or better"

Too many people with a "profit" motive involved in these threads.

    I couldn't agree more!!!!!

I think it all comes back to what I had mentioned earlier in this thread that maybe a rule which says if after 3 attempts of 72 hours, for each attempt, then if nobody takes your offerings then you have to put your original grab back up for the taking by the board then maybe we could always keep the thread moving. I want to also say I am not trying to go on any kind of attack but I think a rule like that will motivate people to put something up that is desirable unlesss they want to risk losing what they claimed. Can we not make this happen?

LOL!! I am just now reading this entire thread....for a new member, you sure are very observant!

I have done the PIF thread a couple of times and noticed the same things. Yea, it hurts me too to give away a $200 card, but it is in the name of the thread. If some of the members with "profit" as their sole motivation would step out of the thread, you will see that it is actually a pretty good idea. Don't get me wrong, I like making money as much as the next guy. I also believe in "fair play".
