It's simple logic. Some people need a law degree to accurately interpret moderately complicated rules. Others can get by just fine without such a degree. My ability to interpret ebay rules without a law degree does not make me a hypocrite, but you should feel free to think that I am if you like.
CM2017, do you honestly think if EBay looked at this situation from the beginning, they would recognize the distinction between breaking the rules yourself (and I get why you are saying you didn't), and suggesting to the seller that he break the rules?
If you do, take a couple minutes and think about it again. Do you still really think that?
If you still do after that....... really? You still do?

All I can say is you better hope you still have an EBAY account. If someone pulled a stunt like that on me I would certainly bring it to EBAY's attention and hope that they take the appropriate action.

Hi Walter. I totally get what you're saying here. You're right that ebay wouldn't like the message I sent or the offer I made to the seller to post a positive for him if he sends me money.
But a couple points, if they're not already clear. One, I don't care what ebay thinks or does.
Two, ebay is impotent to actually do anything meaningful, even if they can be certain that the feedback system has been manipulated. In the event that he sends me a $25 refund and I respond by posting positive feedback, I think it would be blatantly obvious that such manipulation had taken place, so they'd likely remove the positive from his feedback. What else could they do? Suspend me? I don't care.
Suspend the seller? On what grounds? That he issued a partial refund to a buyer who wasn't 100% satisfied with a purchase? I realize that ebay is already a huge joke in a lot of ways, but the day they start suspending sellers for issuing refunds to buyers, no matter the reason, and no matter the surrounding issues, is the day they're really going to be committing economic suicide.
The irony is that this all started because he asked for positive feedback, which would not have helped him in any significant way.
<< <i>Not only did the seller offer free shipping but honors a 14 day return policy. 23.jordan is by far one of the biggest losers I have ever witnessed on the PSA boards! >>
Do you always insult people who you've already determined are unstable, in need of professional help, and possibly medication? If you knowingly insult an unstable person and it sends him or her over the edge to commit suicide, you could be held criminally liable. So either you don't really think I'm unstable, which makes you a liar, or you're willing to potentially push a suicidal person over the edge, which makes you a potential killer. Which is it?
