The small chip in the left border is near his bat knob. The "M" print not being solid green is going to kill it. The corners are razor all 4 just some extra hairlike fibers but nothing PSA has ever knocked grades down for.
Received my two packs today. I had planned on keeping them sealed but one pack had small corner tear so I decided to open it. I received a Stargell with a slight diamond cut and a Jackson that looks just like the one posted by right above. The other pack stays sealed.
Received my six packs today but I'm a little too busy to bust them right now. However, upon package inspection I noticed that the very top pack has NO gum. That was crazy, but I realize that happens sometimes. I wonder if PSA would slab a gum-less pack. Anyway, all six of my packs are tight and fresh, no tears that I can see, very crisp wax! I almost want to send a couple of these babies to get slabbed. Especially since a PSA 8 pack just sold for $75 last night.
I just wanted to say that I got my box yesterday...it looks MINT! No corner dings, scratches, etc. It absolutely looks brand new. Amazing for a 35 yo box!
Top two were from the recent group break. One might make the case the Bill North could make a 10. As for the rookies, it's always exciting to see one coming. Mr. Ganter is a fine gentleman, but would have loved to see Andre.
Bottom two were from the last cello group break. Gotta Murphy. OC and a couple rough corners, but GOTTA MURPHY.
Out of 8 packs, I had 1 that was damaged. It had a rip in it and it was like it was poked with something. Had five damaged cards in it with indents to the left of the players name. One of the damaged cards was the Winfield, though I don't think it shows up too well in the scan. My other 7 packs look fine so I'm happy.

<< <i>Stevie Johnson autograph helmet and ? Big UK and Reds fan here too! >>
Stevie is actually a friend of ours. He and I became somewhat buddies back in 2006 when he only had one TD catch his first year out of JUCO. I had alot of faith in him. He then blossomed into a superstar at UK. One of the coolest moments ever was when Buffalo drafted him he called me before his name even popped up on the ESPN screen. To have someone share something like that with you was pretty special.
He has always treated me great and been kind to my sons.
I was the first person to ever own a #13 jersey in 2007(ordered it from Nike) then he caught the game winning TD against UL then #1 LSU and lots of folks had one.
Bunker, I thought it was really cool of Steve to do that for me. I offered to pay extra and he refused. He is my favorite in the business.

<< <i>And here's my monster card, just what I was hoping for. A PERFECT LOOKING GEORGE BRETT CARD, PSA 10ish!
Oh wait, that may just be a badly centered Ken Brett, PSA4ish >>
That's actually a pretty tough common to find in high grade if memory serves me correctly. I submitted one from my set many years ago but it only got an 8. At that time I think a 9 was going for a decent amount.
Here are mine so far. I had pitcher heavy packs. Only opened 5 out of 8.
Edited: The Ryan has the popular and unfortunate register issue around his name. The Carlton is the first card I saw and I was really jazzed when I saw it. Most of the other cards were commons; a few gradeable. Only 1 card exhibited a wax stain, which surprised me.
Justin, congrat's on the Ryan! The glare makes it difficult to see well, but it looks like it is centered nicely!

Thanks! Yeah, sorry, I have a habit of adding card sleeves to the cards i put in top loaders. I believe the Ryan is certainly in parameters of a 9 though.

These packs have cards with the backs facing front & back so it's going to be difficult to determine any star packs.

So far I've only been able to open 1 of my 6 packs. 2 of them look especially nice and will be sent in for grading. From my one pack opened so far, one decent pull, nothing major...

All 4 of my packs had the cards facing outwards, so I was able to read at least who was on the back. If I could not determine the name I looked at the team and searched a few sites that way with the outline of the person to determine who it was. All duds........

1980scollector: Very nice! As a first time participant, I asked early on in this thread if Steve would shrink wrap my measly 3 pack order and the general consensus was probably not. Wish I thought to send the request to Steve.
Just wanted to say I opened my 5th pack and planned on opening the 6th too, but decided against it.
The 5th pack, which ironically was one of the two best condition packs, was in bad shape. Four of the cards had edge bends on the bottom near the left corner. Good news is I didnt pull any stars that were damaged. All commons and only two centered decently.
My last pack is going to stay sealed and put into my collection.
Again thanks for getting this together. It was a great time and I always enjoy the group rips especially the late 70's
Ok, here are the highlights of the two packs I ripped. The Schmidt has the same print flaw as mentioned earlier. The other two packs will get slabbed as they were in the best condition.

I have two packs left that I was going to keep them but might be opening.
I can always get more to display and hell I dont have any other packs left from the 70's anyway. I busted everything I had even a few 86 topps packs.
Is that normal?
If I dont open anything for awhile I am good, but the moment I open something I cant control myself and start buying and opening more and more.
