The seller is stupid not to combine shipping. It hurts his business.
However, the buyer is far worse in my eyes.
How on earth does the seller deserves a negative?

<< <i>If it was me I would definitely neg him. Charging $10+ dollars for shipping 3 graded cards is completely unreasonable IMO. It's his fault for running .99 auctions that didn't pan out. >>
Please post your Ebay name so any sellers can block someone like you.
Seller does not combine shipping and takes 10 business days to send it out.....how can I add him to my BSL? (blocked seller list)
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo. ~WalterSobchak
I have a strange feeling the seller is on some other board complaining that a bidder is asking him to combine shipping when MY AUCTIONS CLEARLY STATE I DO NOT COMBINE SHIPPING. OMG OMG OMG why can't bidders read? Block this bidder you guys.
Of course, they responsd with how much did you charge the bidder. Seller then explains the cards went for $1.00 each due to the excessive shipping charges of $3.50 per card.
Then he gets the standard bag of different responses (ysou are breaking ebay rules with excessive shipping, you better send each seperate with DC, what is the buyer/seller ebay ID so we can block). Just a guess.

<< <i>The seller is doing something wrong, IMO, by not being flexible and adjusting to customers with very reasonable requests. >>
Its not the seller's obligation to be "flexible". The seller stated his policy, the buyer agreed to that policy by bidding. Now the buyer wants the seller to change the rules.
Although it would be NICE if the seller was "flexible" and "adjusted" to the customer's reasonable request........the fact that he is not doesnt mean he is doing anything wrong.
It would only be "wrong" if the seller charged 3 seperate shipping costs, and then mailed out the 3 items in one package. If he mails them out in 3 distinct packages, he fully upheld his exact obligations and is totally in the clear. >>
I respectfully disagree with you. Simply stating a policy doesn't make it right, let alone appropriate, and certainly not good for business.
Combining shipping is a standard practice for sellers on eBay. As is answering emails and providing accurate descriptions of items. Yes the seller doesn't have to do anything, but doesn't the seller want to have happier customers who spread the good word about their great business?
It's also more likely that if one person is complaining about a business practice, there are many more that just don't speak up. Why not do what is universally accepted and appreciated, especially when it's been brought to one's attention? >>
Definately not good business practice....that much we can agree on. But if a seller states his terms....no matter how silly.....and you AGREE to those terms, then do you have any right to complain after the fact? Thats something a child does....not an adult who takes responsibility for his/her own actions.

I have to respectfully DISAGREE with you. Simply stating the Policy does make it right, Because that is what you AGREED to the moment you placed that bid.
Appropriate, good for business, has nothing to do with it. Your chance to disagree with the sellers terms ended when you entered the bid.

It's a little more than complaining. It's disregarding the seller's terms of sale when bidding, then negotiating to pay less for them after you've won. With the threat of negative feedback and low DSR scores most sellers will comply. This practice enables you to bid higher than others who work the seller's term into their bids. Others bid knowing they were going to pay .99 + 3.50. OP was able to bid more because the 3.50 was going to be be negotiated.

The biggest headaches always seem to come from the sale of low dollar items.
Sellers, don't bother selling three dollar items on Ebay. Instead, donate them to charity, write it off, then spend that extra time working at McDonald's...and you will have more money in your pocket, and more time in your life.

There is no rule that says a seller has to combine shipping--more than a few don't combine (Most do). Their policy sucks, but it is their policy.
They do not have to list their policy on combined shipping--and again, more than a few don't list their policy.
This seller actually DOES have the policy listed--even if it is not is the most logical place for the OP.
IF a potential bidder can not find the written policy or does not see a policy listed--IT IS THE BIDDERS RESPONSIBILITY to contact the seller and ask for said policy BEFORE BIDDING. Otherwise, you have to assume full shipping on each item.
I have had to ask sellers many times in my years on eBay, because they did not explicitly list their combined shipping policy. 98% of those sellers have responded that they will combine shipping when asked. If a seller does not respond, then you can not blame them if you go ahead and bid, and then the seller does not combine. It is not deceptive--it should be expected unless otherwise stated.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
<< <i>I disagree...if the seller was honest, the combined shipping policy would be listed on the first page...not buried on the bottom of a page that must be clicked on. The seller knows exactly what he is doing and trying to take advantage of people. For this reason, I would leave a neutral...alerting other possible buyers..assuming the cards are shipped separately. If the cards are combined in 1 package, neg away. Doing the right thing should come naturally. When it does not, I do blame the person trying to take advantage of the situation not a buyer trying to avoid getting ripped off. In my opinion, the OP is not being unreasonable...the seller (a total loser) is violating eBay excessive shipping policy. >>
The seller may be a total loser, a total DB, runs a bad business, and who knows what else... but he is not violating any Ebay rule at all.
Furthermore the bigger loser and 100% complete DB is the person who would neg someone for sending the cards in the same package. That is a real scum bag in my book!
First off, I think having a 7-page and counting thread about what basically amounts to a $10 deal is ridiculous. Heck, I just spent $10 of my time reading the thread for god's sake. This isn't rocket science. The guy stated "no combined shipping" in the auction. OP wants to whine about how it wasn't in what he feels was the "right place"... but it was stated in the auction. And it doesn't matter even if it was in the "right place"- because OP never bothered to actually read the terms of sale in the first place, otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion. The seller can't be held responsible for a bidder being too lazy to read his TOS....and as stated earlier he is under no obligation to combine shipping whatsoever. He could have done so (I certainly would have, just to make shipping easier) but it's his auction and his choice. You agreed to the terms by bidding. Deal with it and move on with your life.
This is a prime example of why we don't sell anything under $30 on ebay...it is a proven fact that cheap items beget more problems for no gain.
