<< <i> I assume if the transaction is made good, the negative can be retracted? >>
Yes. It can be retracted if the buyer agrees to do so.
To spendabuckeye... Kudos for unraveling the sale to your friend and going ahead with the original sale. You are a stand up seller in my book.
In the final analysis, both parties here made mistakes of different sorts, though both had defensible reasons for doing what they did.
My advice to the seller would be to do more due diligence than just checking a phone app before assuming an item didn't sell on ebay and offering it elsewhere...
and to the buyer... I agree that you had a right to be upset and I understand your initial assumption that the seller reneged due to a low price (presumably that's why you sniped the auction to begin with)... but that said, future sellers might not be so accomodating to someone so anxious to leave a neg. Should this situation happen in the future I suggest more attempts at communication before dropping the proverbial hammer.

spendabuckeye....regardless of how many FB's you have, if you were able to turn this nightmare around, and do what you have said you've done, then please accept my apology, in regard to negative remarks I made towards you. You are obviously someone who has a sense of responsibility. You have made most of what I said look like nonsense, and I applaud you for doing the absolute right thing. You proved that whether you have 267, or 26,700 feedbacks, each one is just as important as the one before.
We all get angry at times (some more than others), and do let it get the better of us......however, after the calming down period, you stepped up and did the absolute most honorable thing a person could do, beginning by coming here. You showed us, here at this forum, that there are still honest sellers that WILL go the whole 9 yards (we know that the regulars here are some of the only ones left). In the last few years, the ebay waters have become treacherous for sellers. It's refreshing to see that there are others, besides those of us here that sell, willing to do what you've done. Coming here and 'splaining your side was a huge first step, and you took a bigger one by following through on the transaction. I can only hope that the neg can/will be removed...I'm sure the buyer will be more than happy to work to get the neg removed.
Please accept my apology for ragging on you.... And please do stick around. There is lots to learn here...I know, as I just learned a valuable lesson, as I should have allowed the situation to play out. As I said, I didn't want to respond to the thread, and in retrospect, shouldn't. I think most of us do look forward to having you around.

Glad it's all working out at any rate.
