These will be cheap in no time unless they are fairly limited. I may wait and pick up a set without the auto. If not I think I can live without them.
You'd think they'd potentially get more people interested if they had a list of the auto. subjects.
Lack of checklist is a really poor move, IMHO. It's almost as if they're selling an idea that is still only half-baked.
Which, I'm afraid, might be a real possibility
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
I think I spent more in '09 and that set is far from complete, and I'm not storing a lot of doubles that are worth a penny.
Or if they went the old way,.......You could take that $100, purchase two boxes, 48 packs, with what, say 12 SPs, hopefully no dupes and be searching around to finish the set.
...and have two relic cards.
I'm not a dealer or sell on-line, I'm just a collector, so I don't purchase large quantities and flip the stuff to recoup my money.
I would like to see Topps offer Complete Sets of the regular issue Heritage similar to their base set.
That way I could have at least one complete set and not a bunch a sets that are missing three to five cards. And not be frustrated that I spent $750 on a case and walked away two cards short.
They didn't do any promotion other than the Beckett article.
Trout is in the base set. A traded set should not be $100. Even with an auto, which would probably be no one you ever heard of, this set is not worth what Topps is asking. I was thinking $20 for a traded set.

I was thinking just in general promotion....the hype should be Trout. (or maybe I'm a year behind)
I think back in the early eighties the traded set was $11.99 wasn't it, or something like that, and packs were a quarter...."those were the days..."
I just head back from topps, they will be releasing the checklist very soon. Also limited to 1000 sets. The red ink are additional hits in a set, they are numbered to 10, say 50 guys signed red inks then every other box will contain one. If the checklist is hot, this could sell well.
The two key ingredients to this being a boom or bust:
How many players are in the autograph set. I think 50 is unrealistic, Walt. Is it 20? More or less?
Will autographs be inserted equally, or will Darvish, Harper be short prints?

Topps released the final checklist for its much-anticipated 2012 Topps Heritage High Number boxed set on Wednesday, which includes some notable debut cards.
There are 22 Rookie Cards in the online-only set, according to the company, a crop led by Bryce Harper, Yu Darvish, Trevor Bauer, Yoenis Cespedes and Matt Adams. Notable veterans include Ichiro Suzuki, Andy Pettitte, NLCS MVP Marco Scutaro and several others in their new uniforms.
There will be 22 players on the autograph checklist, a crop led by the rookies Harper, Darvish, Cespedes and Bauer. Three autograph cards on the checklist remain to be determined.
See the checklists after the jump.
The sets will cost $99.95 on the company’s website and there will be red-ink autographs limited to just 10 copies among the autographs that will be seeded one per set. In addition, Topps has announced that only 1,000 sets will be made.
The release is the second online-only exclusive this year as it released 2012 Topps Mini — a shrunken version of its flagship set — in August.
Collectors can order a maximum of 20 sets per household.

H650 Bryce Harper Washington Nationals RC >>
Hmm....by next year his auto might not be worth anything as it seems there are more cards with his auto than standard issue cards.
There is still 339 sets left. the sales have slowed way down.
The disappointing checklist (base and auto).
Unless the three TBD autos are HOT this will be a disappointing set.
Except for all the Red Sox
Here is the checklist by team----I was bored.
