I just got an email that more original order can not be cancelled to the new one since it was already shipped? Ya gotta give them credit for organization?
I originally ordered 2 books at $9.99 and I got all the e-mails that have been mentioned in the last 24 hours. I had to confirm that I still wanted the books even if I had to wait 30 days, and then about 12 hours later, I got the e-mail saying the books had been shipped.
<< <i>My take? Ripken didn't finish signing and they have a backlog to get out? >>
My take? B&N underestimated how fast these would sell, and didn't place a cap on it. This thing was live for a long time. If Ripken can get a thousand people to show up who would pay a minimum of $150 to have a small flat signed, then he can draw tens of thousands of people to order a signed book online for ten bucks. I blame B&N. I'm still in it for the long haul. If I get it, great... if I don't, then I don't.
Just FYI guys. I am sure you all remember my posts and how I reordred at $16.99 after making a mistake thinking that only the author was signing. This morning when I woke up I had an email that my (2) $16.99 books were shipped by ARGIS-USPS with a tracking #.
To me it clearly looks like they are not shipping the $9.99 books yet as they know they can get $16.99 for them! I am sure I was not the only one to get this email when I woke up this morning.
If anyone else got it, lets hear it!
Currently collecting all sports HOF Rookie Cards graded by PSA...for my sons Jayce & Luke.
No update for me and my 3 books @ the cheap price.
Edited to add: I looked up my order status and it states that they were shipped today via DHL, although the tracking number does not show any activity yet.

Alright... why on earth are they STILL advertising this on B&N for $16.99 if they can't fulfill their current orders? I follow "Ripken Baseball" on Facebook, and they just posted a link to the Barnes & Noble website.
I don't think they're having trouble filling orders. I think the 30-day extension was only sent to people who ordered at the $9.99 price in hopes that those people would either cancel or not respond within the 24 hour time frame provided. Their stock is full and they're happy to sell at $16.99.
Why else would they send an e-mail saying it's the books are out of stock and it' going to take 30 additional days to fill the orders, only to ship the books out 12 hours after the buyers confirmed they still wanted the books and would be willing to wait out the 30 days?
They had to lie in order to create the illusion of the books having been out of stock, because they can't very well say they're not going to honor the pre-order price.
I still haven't been charged but was sent a tracking # hmmm
They even sent a canned response to my email I sent this morning asking why the orders for $16.99 placed after the sale were shipped first. In their response, they sent the tracking # again and said if I don't get it within 2-6 days to check with the post office to see if they are holding it. LOL cause the tracking # link went to DHL's site
<< <i> said if I don't get it within 2-6 days to check with the post office to see if they are holding it. LOL cause the tracking # link went to DHL's site >>
DHL does the tough part (the distance transportation) and gives packages to the local PO to deliver. hence the reason your tracking number is formatted exactly like the USPS.
Looking to have some custom cuts or plain custom cards built? PM me.

Hi
Simple....
I called B&N to make sure my order wasn't dropped - I didn't respond to the email until someone mentioned about them dropping the order for lack of response.
She gave me some "stuff" about my order ending up in a 'loop' and may stay that way - she said she was canceling my first order and initiating a new one - honoring the sale price.
I told her thanx.
Then I got an email from B&N saying my "initial" order couldn't be canceled because it had already been processed/shipped - so that's the first 3 for 27 bucks - free shipping.
Now - there's also the SECOND - new order that she placed - I don't know if this is canceled or still active. I was too busy with other stuff today to check with them.

Having worked retail in situations where we would preorder some stuff the reason they had to send that email out is....................................................
because of some state laws that don't allow retailers to presell stuff out X amount of days and also because of some credit cards that won't allow an authorization to stand outside of x amount of days. Since this company operates in multiple states I bet it was a little bit of both reasons. Where I worked if we couldn't get it to you within 30 days we automatically refunded you whether you wanted a refund or not because of the state we were in.

looks like they've already handed it off to the PO in NJ. And they charged my PP account last night. All is now good

The code works and if you have a B&N membership you get the free shipping anyway. So I got two.
Of course, I had them on the phone (twice) the day this thread popped up and could have gotten the $9.99 price but both people I talked to confirmed that after 4:30 AM EST, they had actually sold out. Consequently I didn't order. It seems as though Cal is expanding to meet the demand. We shall see.
edited as the thread did not perform a bodily function as described by a four year old.
So I received an email about 5 days ago saying they will cancel my order if I don't authorize an extension in 24 hours. I was pretty pissed as I don't check my email every day due to my schedule. I was able to log-in and it still gave me the option to extend, thankfully.
Edited to add: I just received another today, they are on their way!

Here name is Jolene - she told me these kinds of "delay orders" can wind up in a loop and never be processed.
My order showed - 30 day delay accepted.
She "reordered" to get it moving and said the original sale will be honored.
Not sure if this makes any difference.
My take? Ripken didn't finish signing and they have a backlog to get out?
We shipped your package by Smart Mail.
If all of your items are not listed below, we will update you soon, so please watch for our next email.

So, I would say those are going out immediately.

Autos in books - in terms of value - will always be less than on a flat or ball IMO - since they're harder to display.
Does anyone know how many he signed?
I can sure understand some being concerned of the value - out of curiosity.
I have this feeling the auto copy from the publisher will be plentiful.
Edited to add: I just received another today, they are on their way!
Mine will go to the office - so I should see them on Monday.
Still wondering about the customer service and whether I wind up with a 2nd group?
Looking for Charlie (Charley) Maxwell cards.
