there was a print for silver at 50.75 did anyone actually buy or sell at that price? well the seller would like to say so, but I doubt anyone will admit to paying it.

over the years the "record books" carried the price of 50.25 but it has commonly been quoted as 50 an ounce.

but in 1980 we didnt have the Internet. so whatever the new record high price is going to be, everyone around the world will be able to copy and paste it.

I think MoneyLA was refering to the Jan. 1980 high....not this morning.

There goes silver screaming down to fill last night's opening gap. Gold has already done it.
Silver now back to the uptrend line from the last few days washing out that parabolic spike.
This will play into Tuesday-Wednesday expiration, FED meeting, TBond auctions, and lack of POMO for 2 days.
Only a temp setback. PM's should be back to fright mode by end of this week or very early next week.

I'm sure derryb is watching like a hawk! Silver is such a seductress and siren's song in the paper trade. My vertigo can't handle too much of it, esp with this crazy run up!! Gold is more my speed... & for me also it's just bad mojo to short the metals ...(will short the S&P in a flash, and coming up in the not too distant future). Buying in on the dips like derryb is doing is good stuff, though, but ALL IN !!! The man backs up what he is saying!

    Anyone read this in CNNMoney:

Silver expected to reach $50 any day and $75 in a year

"Both gold and silver, which is often called the poor man's gold, have taken on the role of currencies as the dollar loses its luster and inflation fears run wild, said Hanlon. He expects gold to top $1,700 an ounce and silver to reach $75 an ounce within a year.

    Hum???

  • ProofCollectionProofCollection Posts: 6,253 ✭✭✭✭✭
Wow, APMEX is now buying ASEs for $3 over spot, and selling them for $6 over spot by the roll (20 or more), and as "low" as $4.99 over spot for 500 or more... These premiums are crazy, or at least seem that way since we are used to much smaller premiums... but 10-12% is probably not that unreasonable when AGEs are 5-6% but cost ~30x more per unit.

The US Mint has sold out of ASEs.

Better than $25.00 though a quick dip down to $25 would be nice so I could buy a few pounds before it jumps back to $35.50.

The gold vix is under 17, had been in the 15's earlier this week. After peaking in late 2009, it has made a series of lower highs, but not lower lows. In other words, the range has been tightening. Now of course this range could continue to tighten, but eventually it will break.

That's right. $33 is a very good price for an ounce of silver.

The big question, WHEN will it take out $49.82? Any predictions?
