I didn't know Lou personally, but it is clear to anyone who has been here more than a few months that he was one guy who truly loved coin collecting, and as others have mentioned, was very generous with his time and his knowledge. My thoughts and prayers go to his loved ones.
I am also curious what took him from us at such a young age? If those in the know do not care to disclose this, I'm okay with that.

Wow!! This is terrible news. I had shared many PMs with Lou here and ATS and considered him a friend even though we never physically met. I will miss him.
Best wishes to his wife and daughters and all his family and friends. I only knew IGWT from his posts here, and he was one of my favorite members. Take care...

I have been away from the boards for a few days, and I got an email from RYK, with the title "Terrible News from the PCGS Boards". I got really nervous when I opened it, and was devastated when I read of Lou's passing. It really shook me up. It is sort of ironic that I opened the email while I was visiting the Arizona Memorial, where thousands of other young men died. I could not stop thinking of Lou as I was also thinking of the others at the memorial.
Lou and I have corresponded through many, many PMs, and he was a great sounding board for some legal advice when I needed it (dealing with a labor matter), and also about coins. Most of our PMs were actually not coin related, but dealt with careers and other topics. When I was faced with an ethical issue at my office, I actually bounced it off Lou, who provided me with some sound, ethical advice that I am pleased to say I followed.
He will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to his wife and children, and the rest of his family.

I am so sorry to hear of his loss. Prayers for his family. I never met him personally, but spent several years here enjoying his thoughts and posts. That is to young to go.
I just received an email from Lou's wife - as promised I sent her a link to the thread since she wanted to read the responses. She was truly touched. I've posted a snippet from her email for all to read.
Dear Mike:
Thank you for the beautiful message that you posted. I am sitting here in tears reading all of heartfelt responses. What a wonderful group of people Lou befriended in the coin world. I am truly touched. Please let Lou's coin buddies know how comforting it has been for me to read all the messages.
This is horrible news. First, Silvereagles passed away and now IGWT. Both great guys who were passionate and always willing to share their wisdom. I never met either personally, but always enjoyed their posts. IGWT's posts on Sheild nickels were always insightful. He is a loss to the forum, and I'm sure an immense loss to all who knew him. Rest in peace brother...

This is truly shocking news. Lou was a great person, warm and friendly, intelligent and humorous. I had the good fortune to know him through our shared love of the shield nickel series, and had many enjoyable exchanges with him. I offer my heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family.
My condolences to his wife and children and to all who ache from this news.
Another good guy is gone.

How very sad. Some of my favorite moments on this forum have been shared with Lou, especially via PM. He had a great sense of humor, and a refreshingly sane perspective on our world.
