Gary's 1977 card graces the cover of the October 1982 Card Prices Update --- also included the prices for the 1952 Topps set and key cards --- $850.00 for a Mantle and it was going DOWN in price ~ not bad
A somewhat beat up 1984 Baseball Magazine put out by the Expos This ends the early Expos run of mag covers ~ will start to show some of Gary's mets covers but before that starting tomorrow I will switch it up a bit
Picked this up 25+ years ago --- it has a matte finish. (several of my old photos do) At the time I didn't like the finish but I can't tell you how many glossy photos (Carter and others) were destroyed by the lame-o plastic sheets I used
I am a big fan of these different type of shots --- it seams that there are only a few authorized pics to chose from nowadays and when I come across shots like this one I need to add it to my collection
Steve Rogers and Gary were team mates from 1974 -- 1984 and Gary caught Steve on opening day from 1977-1983 (in 1976 Gary was in the starting lineup in RF on opening day when Rogers pitched)
When you think of Expos pitching you need to think first of Steve Rogers
I had an idea that having some of my photos made into plaques would be a good idea and here is one of them --- I had about 10 done and the glossy photos were destroyed -- the matte finish held up (this one is a matte) --I am glad I stopped at 10 -- mostly due to the price of having these made up and since I never used a real framer they were all different styles
I was and still am a big Murphy fan --- great player in the 80's
My wife wanted to show off her Gary Carter item --- back in 92 I sent a request on behalf of my girlfriend at the time and Gary sent along the photo/postcard you see on the left
The photo on the right is one I picked up via ebay
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
It pains me to show this but here is one of those photos that was awesome when I first picked it up but now is trashed due to the sun and lame-o plaque plastic --- I keep it around to see how long before the auto completely disappears
<< <i> anyone else notice that GB is wearing two different spikes in this photo from the '83 ASG? (Spot Bilt & Nike)

WOW --- I have had this photo for 2 decades and never noticed that -- what made you check out his shoes? >>
LOL...I guess I have an eye for detail (actually I was checking out the Brett signature and couldn't help but notice the cleat issue); I love that kind of stuff
Now I want to know what GB wore in the game itself!

Day 261 -- December 24, 2010 ~~ MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!!
This is another one of those "official" photos that are all over the place
For those opening gifts tonight I hope that you all get what is on your lists and the words to this song from Better Than Ezra fit for tonight (my favorite lines are in bold)
Northern Wind, Chimney Smoke, Love and Pain, Joy and Hope.
These are the days, of Christmas.
Colored lights and mistletoe, Cinnamon and Nat King Cole, There's a miracle now on 34th Street.
At the airport families wait on queue, And they shout as the loved one comes in view. Well the kids are just happy 'cause they're out of school.
How wonderful life is, on Christmas.
Sleigh bells and sing-a-longs, the snow falls on the lawn, there's a midnight mass, for a birthday.
Hearin' tunes an laughter fill the room, You forget all the thoughts that have troubled you. Yeah I know times I hard, somehow you'll make it through.
How wonderful life is, on Christmas.
All is quiet, Holy night, To awaken, Morning light. Let it shine! Let it fill our lives with light.
Then as someone says 'Santa Claus was here,' One by one by the tree we all appear. Grandmother saved paper to use next year.
How wonderful life is - How wonderful life is - How wonderful life is, On Christmas - On Christmas.
Merry Christmas Eve
(At the airport families wait on queue" Merry Christmas Eve

Day 262 -- December 25, 2010 ~~ M E R R Y C H R I S T M A S
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas
The items below hang proudly on my Christmas tree All except the 87 one were made this year (the 1987 one I made 2 years ago)
The large 88 score and small one need 20 cards each The star has the 85 topps on one side and 90 donruss on the other (5 of each) and the 87 needs 4 of each.
I also made another round one with 1990 topps cards that is sized between the small and big one which I sent on to a friend.
Keep going man. This is the most legit fan message board thread that has ever existed here. No one has or ever should mock this thread. The only thing I have seen cooler is the guy that only collects Albert Pujols auto cards. Smartest man ever. I wish I had that sense.
A long time ago I used to be a Jack Clark fan -- but his stints with the Cards and Yankees turned me off -- he is not a fan of Gary's or the late 80's Mets team

October 1982 Sport World
1983 Le Livre du Baseball
This 1983 mag is all about Gary --- might have been a giveaway at the stadium or sold there --- not really sure
very cool!

Another 1983 Canadian mag
1983 Expos Yearbook
April 1983 Video-Presse
1983 SportMania
September 1983 Le Lundi -- also with an autograph
March 1983 Sport magazine
<< <i>Is that Angel Cordero's actual (relative) size? >>
I bet its pretty close
A trio of the April 4 1983 Sports Illustrated (his 3rd of 5 SI covers and last Expos)
An example of the issue (I think I have a total of 10 copies)
The middle issue has a very nice gold sharpie/paint pen auto -- the scanner dulls the shine
The 3rd one is nicely matted
Another Sport (June 1983) magazine with 4 great Hall of Famers
1984 West Palm Beach Expos Program
1984 Expos Yearbook --- even though Gary's back is pictured on the cover I added it because at the time I tought this was his last Expos yearbook.
A somewhat beat up 1984 Baseball Magazine put out by the Expos

Deep in thought or is being told that he is not starting today -- not sure which one it is ---- Photo was taken at Shea (I miss that place)

Mike, I've got that one also, I bet we have a bunch of the same signed 8x10's from years ago.

The photo is 82 or 83 --- sure looks like a side view of Fanning

This photo is everywhere -- one of the official pictures offered at signings all over the place
Got this picture signed in June of 1996 --- first time I met Gary
Woo hoo! Razor Shines sighting!

keep going thekid8. It is fun to watch.
A long time ago I used to be a Jack Clark fan -- but his stints with the Cards and Yankees turned me off -- he is not a fan of Gary's or the late 80's Mets team
Gary was teamed up with Eric Davis a bunch of times in the late 80's cards, SLU, etc... --- not sure why?
