Thanks for the info -- might be a fun odd set to collect
I created this a few years ago I wanted to put something together that was different so I went with the umps that were on hand for Gary's first hit.
At the time Tata, Rennert and Kibler were alive (Kibler passed away early 2010) -- had to purchase the Crawford card and index card. Kibler was also the Ump during the 86 World Series and was at first when the "Ball gets by Bucker"
Added a cut of Jon Matlack, who gave up Gary's first hit with the tought that I might try and add all the players that were part of that game and re-do the whole piece
Some unopened Odd stuff 1984 Topps Rubdowns -- need to grab the 84 and 85 box because they both have Gary on the cover.
1990? awesome "Super Value" group of cards I will NEVER open this - who knows what else is in here Also I can assure you that I did not pay the 2.99 price.
1992 Canadian Diet Pepsi -- Gary is the first card -- hard to scan so you have to take my word for it
1987 Star Glossy set --- there is also a non glossy set as well and back on Day 31 you can see a signed (non-glossy) card from this set 1988 Star Set -- there is also a sticker set
A few more odd unopened items 1986 Quaker pack -- (3 cards and a mail in card) 1992 Donruss/Coke Nolan Ryan pack with Carter on the back (You got a Ryan card and 3 92 Donruss cards)
Nice If you have not done so now you need to pick up the following versions Carter, Jose Cruz, Phil Garner Carter, Collins, Ken Reitz Carter, George Hendrick, Jerry Ruess
Picked up this odd item several years ago Its a baseball card album with sigs of: Gary Carter Don Drysdale Ron Masak (Actor --- has been in a ton of TV shows from the 60's until Pres.) Stu Nahan (Announcer/Actor --- was the ringside announcer in the Rocky movies but his interview with Spicoli is a timeless classic)
Have not looked at this thread in a while. LOVE the custom you made up with the umpires!
STAY HEALTHY!
Doug
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
July 2003 Canadian Sports Collector magazine -- fun magazine and I was part of an article about Carter collectors. You might recognize Abe -- he is a longtime poster here - and David was/is another Carter collector -- as I have stated before Abe and David were my main competition back in the good-old-dial-up ebay days. It was nice to have all 3 of us featured in this article.

These card-size (about 2-1/2" x 3-1/4") cloth patches feature embroidered player portraits on a white background with a color border. Uniform logos are not present. The patches originally sold for $2.50 apiece from the Penn Emblem Co., Philadelphia, though the company’s name is not found on the patches. Thanks for the info -- might be a fun odd set to collect
I created this a few years ago
I wanted to put something together that was different so I went with the umps that were on hand for Gary's first hit.
Some unopened Odd stuff
1984 Topps Rubdowns -- need to grab the 84 and 85 box because they both have Gary on the cover.
1990? awesome "Super Value" group of cards
I will NEVER open this - who knows what else is in here
Also I can assure you that I did not pay the 2.99 price.
1992 Canadian Diet Pepsi -- Gary is the first card -- hard to scan so you have to take my word for it
1987 Star Glossy set --- there is also a non glossy set as well and back on Day 31 you can see a signed (non-glossy) card from this set
1988 Star Set -- there is also a sticker set
A few more odd unopened items
1986 Quaker pack -- (3 cards and a mail in card)
1992 Donruss/Coke Nolan Ryan pack with Carter on the back (You got a Ryan card and 3 92 Donruss cards)
Currently collecting 1934 Butterfinger, 1969 Nabisco, 1991 Topps Desert Shield (in PSA 9 or 10), and 1990 Donruss Learning Series (in PSA 10).
<< <i>Here is one of my newest cards of The Kid.
>>
Nice If you have not done so now you need to pick up the following versions
Carter, Jose Cruz, Phil Garner
Carter, Collins, Ken Reitz
Carter, George Hendrick, Jerry Ruess
Some unopened cellos
1983 Fleer (Carter/Fisk front -- Rice on back)
1982 Topps
1988 Donruss
1988 Fleer
Some 1984 un-opened rack packs
If you don't have the 1990 Donruss Learning Series PM me for a free one.
James
Currently collecting 1934 Butterfinger, 1969 Nabisco, 1991 Topps Desert Shield (in PSA 9 or 10), and 1990 Donruss Learning Series (in PSA 10).
A couple of Donruss racks -- 86 and 87 --- (Eric Davis pops up with Gary again)
One of my favorite racks --- thought it deserved a day of its own
Picked up this odd item several years ago
Its a baseball card album with sigs of:
Gary Carter
Don Drysdale
Ron Masak (Actor --- has been in a ton of TV shows from the 60's until Pres.)
Stu Nahan (Announcer/Actor --- was the ringside announcer in the Rocky movies but his interview with Spicoli is a timeless classic)
A handful of large photos that I had made up from the slides I have collected --- hope to get them signed 1 day
1991 M Inc. -- when Gary left the Mets I thought that was it for covers until this mag hit the shelves
Gary's career came to an end in 1992 and the Expos did the right thing by signing him for the year and putting him on their yearbook
In 1993 The Expos celebrated their 25th anniversary and included Gary on a program cover
Flash forward 10 years and the Expos put Gary on one of their programs highlighting his Hall Of Fame election
Have not looked at this thread in a while. LOVE the custom you made up with the umpires!
October 2007 Memories and Dreams
Gary is on the right hand side next to the S in Memories

A trio of items
First is an ad for 7/11 and Sportschannel cups --- I don't have the Carter one ~ in fact I have never seen one up for sale.
Next 2 are some supersized photos that are on the list to be signed -- nice Expos shot and a unique playful/goofy side of Gary.
A lineup card from a game where Gary hit a homerun (#179) signed by Bill Virdon -- and a ticket stub from the game too.
1976 Hostess Panel signed by Campaneris and Cey -- this is on the pile to get signed someday by Gary
Always loved this shot -- my brother suprised me one Christmas with this 8x10
