Those are some pretty small "relic" pieces. I wonder why they did that. I could not see a Carter GU bat going for over $500...and it would make what 50,000-75,000 normal sized flakes of wood maybe?

Was excited when I won the 2004 SP ~ Legendary Cuts Jersey 1 of 1 card (top left corner) - thought it was a steal at what I paid for it but within a day ANOTHER 1 of 1 pops up then another and so on and so on.....
Quickly found out that there are many 1 of 1's the only thing that is different is what is printed in the gray banner so I have 2 1 of 1's ~~~ 76 Runs in 1980 & 37 Doubles in 1983
I love the 2004 Playoff Honors Quad card with Fisk Carter Bench and Piazza
Well I wanted to go through the last month showcasing 8 auto and/or memorabilia cards per day but I have come up short by 26 cards --- I know a have a misplaced box that has several more but because I am pulling things apart to find it ~ I can't find it --- I guess now that I am not looking for it it will pop up Some quick stats over the last 28 days I have displayed 222 cards with 66 of them having autographs
Back on day 15 I showed a 2003 UD Authentics - well as I was looking for those last auto/memorabilia cards and I found another one -- was a bit suprised and I can't remember when or where I got this one
Couple of Florida Marlins signed items --- Gary was a TV analyst for the Marlins from 1993-1996. Once I heard that a new team was going to be playing in FL I was hoping that Gary would not announce his retirement and maybe be picked up by the Marlins as a veteran backup. Nope he retired with the Expos in 1992 and started his career after baseball. Have some more Marlins items and will show them at a later date.
I love this custom Carter piece --- been waiting, and still am, for McFarlane to come out with a Carter item until then I picked up what you see below. The gentleman who made this and listed it on ebay several years ago ran a website called www.thegreatestpalyers.com (logo is the last pic) ~ it looks like it is not up and running anymore. He had some amazing items in all sports or could make one of you in your high school, college, beer league etc... uniform. He was a true artist and really focused on detail -- I believe he was the artist of a Mets one of Carter at bat but I lost out on that one.
Sticking with a few figures this week -- here is Gary's Sports Impressions figurine (7 inch) -- his was limited to 5008 and if my memory serves me correctly when it first came out it was listed at 150.00. My girlfriend (wife now) picked 1 up for me for 85.00 (she was very happy she made a great deal) back in 1991 --- I have grabbed 2 others and have not paid more than 30 each for them.

Hey Doug To be honest -- I don't know --- I am hoping that this exercise helps me figure that out --- I posted images of 66 cards that had autos on it but I have many multiples (trying to collect 9 of each card Gary is on) photo, books, cut sigs, odd stuff, balls etc... -- I just grabbed and stored -- I am kind of excited to see what I pull out and will post on here Mike
1989 SLU One-on-One with Eric Davis ---- always liked Davis and felt bad that he did not get to celebrate on the field after the Reds won the World Series --- did get an ass kicking by Ray Knight back in 1986
Gary was inducted 9 years ago (June 23, 2001) and I was there with the family. We decided to visit Niagara Falls for a few days and jump across the border for the ceremony. (I think it took up 2.5 hours from the border). It was an amazing time ~ Dave McKay was also inducted with Gary --- the ceremony was nice, the crowds were cozy and Gary stayed to sign for everyone. Good for the Canadians recognizing Gary 2 years before the National Baseball Hall of Fame ~ they did right by Alomar too.
1) The photo was signed a few years later when he did a signing at Last Licks/Scarsdale New York (Photo says: To Mike and Carter All the very best to both of you in the future and God Bless always) 2) A induction bat signed by McKay and Carter numbered to 100 3) Poster that they gave to all 4) Fergie Jenkins and Reggie Cleveland were on hand to sign their Hall cards 5) A couple of Hall of Fame newsletters

Got ours ---- my son saw it first and wanted to tear it out and hang it up.
Had my fathers day start several hours ago My son Carter played in his first Little League Championship tonight (11 year olds) --- they had an great team all the kids complemented each other and the coaches were top notch. They were 3-0 in the playoffs before tonight's game ~ playing a team that they beat in an earlier round. They took an 6-0 lead after 2 - jumped on one of the top pitchers. The other team chipped away and my sons team was leading 9-6 in the bottom of the 6th (they only play 6). The other team got the leadoff batter on and the next kid smacked a 2 run homerun to cut it to 9-8 -- no over the head and run forever hit but a smash over the 203 foot mark on the fence. Two outs later bases were loaded 3-2 count and the batter struck out swinging. Son's first, of I hope, many championships -- he went 1-3 with an RBI and no strike outs --- played outfield and 2nd and is on cloud 9 still.
So for his big win I give you his first ever t-ball jersey (6 years ago) signed by Gary. He was the last kid to pick and it just so happened that #8 was left Gary signed it: To Carter Best of luck in your quest to be the next superstar catcher. May God Bless you always.

Well yesterday the family surprised me with a LI Ducks game --- was a very nice father's day surprise and the kids got to benefit from it --- on Sundays they have a 15 minute autograph signing session. My son Carter and daughter Caroline were able to go on the field and get autographs from everyone but Buddy Harrelson (his line was huge and they cut it off very quickly)
Gary managed last year (2009) and I was able to take my son the opening night -- was hoping to grab the free Gary Carter bobblehead but the WIONDERFUL Long Island traffic screwed that up.
Below we have the 2009 yearbook, pocket schedule, card, and opening day ticket
Also is 2 shots from yesterday: My daughter obtaining Dave LaPoints signature and they were able to grab Buddy Harrelson's auto - he spent about 1 hour signing for everyone on the concourse.
Here is Gary's first bobblehead a 1987 SAMs Gary is selling this one signed for 40.00 via his website --- which is a lot less then I paid for it over 15 years ago
There is a 3 foot Mets bobblehead from Forever Collectibles but that would NOT go over well with the wife --- and my 2 year old would find a way to dress it up.

I don't remember you commenting before on this, but what is your favorite Gary Carter card? >>
To answer Mark's question back on June 21
My all time favorite card is the 1988 Score 325 -- I just like the different layout The bold red border, the waist up shot capturing Gary's distinctive stance, the blurred crowd, even the small white inner border makes it look like its trying to contain the bat.
The glossy edition is in the same mold as the Topps Tiffany except the back is the same card stock.
When he was traded to the Mets I thought his first Mets card would have instantly become my favorite but both the 1985 Topps traded and 1985 Fleer update left something to be desired the O-Pee-Chee card was interesting since they had the Mets team and logo, a traded blurb on the front and the original 85 Topps card image. Before the 88 Score the 77 Topps and O-Pee-Chee cards were my favorite due to the different images.
Picked this up as part of a group of signed items. It was part of a huge collection of items that Gary had owned. Can't say if it was ever worn by Gary but it is one of those different items I have picked up over the years.

Wow...that is pretty impressive.
Due to the impossbility to complete master sets anymore, I think it best to find a player or two to PC, and then a maybe one or two sets to try to "masterize." (If one wants to collect modern, that is.)
I don't remember you commenting before on this, but what is your favorite Gary Carter card? >>
To answer Mark's question back on June 21
My all time favorite card is the 1988 Score 325 -- I just like the different layout
The bold red border, the waist up shot capturing Gary's distinctive stance, the blurred crowd, even the small white inner border makes it look like its trying to contain the bat.
