I sure hope so, I've waited 11 years to get redemption against them. They might beat the Rangers again, heck, for that matter, the Rangers may lose 3 in a row against Tampa and not even make it to the Yankees, however, it's been one enjoyable year so far. I'm a firm believer in the wrestling line "To be the man, you've got to beat the man", so I'd love to see them get a shot against the Yankees. Even if we were to win the World Series somehow, it won't be near as sweet, unless it goes through the Yankees to get it. The thing I love about this years edition of the Rangers, is that they don't seem to know that they are expected to lose against the Rays or Yanks. They believe that they belong, and they are proving it so far. They truly play like a bunch of kids out just having fun, flashing "antlers" and "claws", and that's great to see. A good mix of young talent, and wise, hungry, talented veterans. Could be a magical season for us few Rangers fans.
<< <i>Sorry guys if this goes 5 and i'm the jinx I will switch fandom to the Rays thus assuring a Rangers win >>
Your welcome to climb aboard the bandwagon. I just got home from the game. I've been up there since 10 this morning, game was at 4. Rangers were 5 freaking outs away from being in the ALCS and then Tampa finally overcame their impotence and the Rangers pitchers choked on a big one. Colby Lewis (the starter) could only go 5 innings as he was WILD. Rangers deserved to lose this one the way they played, plain and simple . I'll be up early in the AM tomorrow to head back up to the ballpark for tomorrow's game. It's Tommy Hunter vs. Wade Davis, hopefully Hunter can get it done, if not it will be up to Cliff Lee in game 5.
I got shutout today for autographs as well. Apparently the players aren't following their usual routine in the playoffs. George W. Bush was at the game today, so the usual tunnel experience didn't happen. Every player was getting stopped by cops and a bomb dog on their way into the tunnel. They were even being made to open their trunk while the dog went around their car. They didn't appear to be too happy about it. That's the first time I've seen that. GW needs to stay home if his presence is going to cause the disruption in their usual preparation.
All in all, a piss poor day at the ballpark. My phone lost it's charge right before the game when I wanted to take some photos. I don't even know yet if Notre Dame won or lost, or any of the college football for that matter, I wanted to visit this thread first and say CONGRATS to Tampa Bay fans, y'all deserve to celebrate tonight as y'all beat our butts at our own ballpark.
Tomorrow will be a new day, I'd love to celebrate tomorrow, but if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen.
We'll see. GO RANGERS, let the home crowd celebrate!!!
Another day of playing like the same old Rangers of the last 39 years. Management should take the T's off of their caps on Tuesday, and replace them with a big "L". Once they stop playing like losers, they can earn their T back.
About the only good thing today at the ballpark, was a bacon wrapped barbecued hot dog with cheese that I consumed. That was outstanding. If by some luck or skill or Cliff Lee, we beat TB on Tuesday, than I'll get to enjoy some more dogs against the Yankees next weekend. Looking forward to those potential hot dogs. $7 bucks a pop though!!!
Evan Longoria finally stopped playing like Eva today and whipped our rear. Josh Hamilton either needs to start producing in the playoffs, or ride the pine. If he's still hurt, then he doesn't help the team by playing. If he's not hurt and he just sucks this bad, than he needs to reevaluate somethings and do his JOB He was commenting after the game, basically saying his lack of output was no big deal, it's just a baseball game, and not life. Well Josh, it's not peewee or highschool baseball for recreation. It's a multibillion dollar industry and it's YOUR JOB. Take pride in YOUR JOB and PRODUCE. I know that playoffs shouldn't be taken into consideration when determining an MVP, but with comments like that, and your performance this series, 0 RBI's to date, you don't deserve to be an MVP my friend.
Yes, I'm frustrated, yes, I'm pissed, but at the end of the day, Tuesday, win or lose, I'll still love my favorite team, and still carry the optimism of a young boy every year.
Come on Rangers, it's time!!! Reward yourselfs and reward your fans. Cliff, this is why we got ya. Get it done.
Lee should have gone on three days rest, then you still have CJ wilson, your 2nd best pitcher going in game 5 if you need him. If lee cant go more than 5 innings than you use hunter for the rest of the game.
This would have allowed Lee to be your #1 starter in the next series and shut down the Rays today.
Hamilton hits better when he is on coke, get him a bag.
Lee's not been known as a 3 days rest guy, otherwise, the Phils would've started him 1/4/7 last year against the Yanks. I think the Rangers are in trouble, however. Lee might be able to pitch them past this series, but it would've been ideal if he could have pushed the 1/4/7 against the Yanks.
They need to win Game 5 in order to kill one of their curses -- never having won a playoff series -- in order to have a chance to kill another curse this season -- that of never having won a single playoff game at home in franchise history. Ouch. No pressure there...
I just wish it would hurry up and get here. I'm going to miss all the pregame shows cause I've got pictures for Fiddler on the Roof, but I should be home in time for the first pitch or very shortly thereafter. I've got that fun nervous excitement that all of y'all fans know about. I'm not ready for the season to be over, so I sure hope it doesn't end for the Rangers tonight.
My stomach is churning. This is fun. This is causing me far more stress than "life". Rangers up 2-1 in top of 6th. Of course Hamilton just made ANOTHER out. If Rangers pitchers could just shut em down the rest of the way than that won't matter. 12 outs to go.
Great game so far...Lee has really got into his zone. Can't believe Vlad on the base paths, that was awesome! Still can't get over Hamilton's horrible throw that cost 'em a run...that guy just seems like he's lost a step or two since missing all those games last month.
I don't understand how smart people can root for the Yankees. It's never made sense to me. My uncle-- who grew up in Queens, and whom I have a deep and abiding respect for-- is a die-hard Yankees fan, and although I'll admit he's my intellectual superior I consider his support for the New York Yankees to be a moral and emotional defect.
They are the reason why I only watch two types of games; those that involve the Tigers, and those games where the Yankees are facing elimination in the playoffs.

I can live with empty bandwagons.
Good luck with your Yankees going forward. It's always nice to see a scrappy bunch of underdogs play deep into October, so I suppose I can see the appeal. I'm under the impression that Selig and the MLBPA do, in fact, accept Christmas cards, so don't hesitate to send them a thank-you note if the Yankees end up hoisting hardware in November.
And if the Yanks don't win, well hey-- there is always the old VHS tape of the Miracle on Ice. I've heard that if you squint your eyes just so, and watch the game from a sharp angle, you can almost imagine that the Ruskies won in the waning seconds. True, it's not a Yankees WS victory, but it's probably the next best thing.
Just got back from the game. I knew there would be some good action in my thread. Interesting game. Was actually fairly entertaining even though I was disappointed in the outcome. I was hoping the Rangers would split here at home, so we can still do that with a win later today. If they lose today as well, it will be a rough uphill climb to dethrone the Yanks. A split would set the Rangers up nicely IMO.
I have been to sporting events all over this country, many different venues, several different sports, and it still seems to hold true that the Yankees have the greatest number of fans that act like complete imbeciles of any team. It's probably all relative, as they might have the largest fanbase of any franchise, thus the high number of imbeciles and morons. For those that feel that's painting with a broad brush, I didn't say all Yankees fans act classless, I simply stated that a large number do. Several pockets of Yankee fans tonight, for 7 innings behaved for the most part, but then when they took the lead, all of sudden they were dropping F bombs and other fine nuggets all over the place towards Rangers fans You stupid b's, you dumb mf's, etc. etc. etc. Granted, we may be a little behind the learning curve for rooting for a perennial loser, but come on, act like an adult.
Their boorish behavior continued in the parking lot after the game as well. I had my convertible top down down sitting in the line to leave the parking lot, minding my own business, and two Yankees "fans", proceed to pace their walk to where they are about 10 feet away from me, walking beside my car continually, taunting over and over and over. I never said a word back and simply looked at them and smiled periodically. One of them finally said he was going to piss on my car, like the Yankees pissed on the Rangers, and the sorry sob took a step toward my car. I then told him what would happen to him if he did, opened my door, and the two dicks took off running. Unbelievable. I'm a mild mannered guy so it takes a LOT to piss me off.
Anyway, enjoy your victory Yankees fans, hopefully the Rangers turn the tables on you, but if not, at least win with class.

This team has never been able to hit worth a damn. There are two good hitters on this team, that's it.
I'm not surprised by this series at all.
