So Yanks take an important series, and in the process CC faces Beckett, both with 14 wins...and the latter gets mauled. Nice bonus to see the Sox ace exceeding his own career best (worst) performance of HR allowed (in back to back starts to boot). CC no walks is also noteworthy. A-Rod's clutch 3-2 two out bomb adds to his productive season so far against these guys. Our fielding made it closer than it should have been. Always good to go into Fenway and emerge with the lead having grown.
"He made one mistake the whole day," Girardi said of Burnett, who gave up two hits and three walks. "It was unfortunate one mistake (the HR) cost him the game because he was dynamite."
So those two 2-out, 2-strike walks preceding the HR to Kinsler were not mistakes? Burnett always seems to suffer one mental meltdown per game.
These guys better get their azzes in gear. Such lackadaisical play is not what got them the division lead. Should they keep up this latest series' inconsistent pitching and poor BA with RISP, they might be in for a rude awakening. Hope when it hit 7.5 games up they didn't start drinking their own Kool-Aid.
It will be quite a task to beat the Yankees. Every batter in their lineup is pretty much an all star. Without a doubt, that is why baseball needs a salary cap. You will never get a small market team fan like me to think otherwise. The Yankees didnt need to buy every player back in the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, etc... They can't bring up players through the organization ( Ok Ill give you Jeter) so they try and buy a World Series. That said, we can beat this "Team". This series ain't over...
$60 Million payroll verses $300 plus...Yes, thats freaking fair lol... Oh and no way you guys buy Mauer... He aint going nowhere but Target field.

Jeeeez, Not only was your comment about Yankee farm products hideous, but your payroll total for the Yankees was overshot by nearly 100 million as well. Listen, hate them all you want. The more hatred that is around signals a great time to be a Yankee fan. Fine with me.
BUT, Please come to the table with material other than made up crap. Thank you.
Try earning a ring instead of trying to buy it. I agree it is REAL good times watching the Yankees have the HIGHEST payroll in MLB every year, and Choke year after year. Including the BIGGEST choke in MLB HISTORY.

Alright. You made some stupid comments and for some reason you won't answer for the stupidity. Fine.
You keep enjoying the fact that your ownership blows and makes you cry about it. I will continue to enjoy a real big league team.
The Angels sure looked impressive this series. One more Yankee win and the two best AL teams will be facing off. The last several games btw the Angels and Yankees were just so tight. If we take care of business in the next three games, the CS will sure be one to watch. I was always bummed that we let go of Bobby A.
I'm sure most Yankee fans would rather the Yanks put the Sox in their season coffin, but we did wrest the division from them, then run away with it, and beat them silly in the second half.
In terms of the seasonal competition btw those two teams, one more Yankee win and '09 definitely goes in the Yanks' column. That always feels good. A WS win would of course feel better.
Oh yeah. Homegrown stars in Andy and Jorge and Mariano shining (while the Twins' best hitter missed his chance for heroics and their closer wilted again). A-Rod continues shutting up the haters. Plus we sweep while Sox are swept. All in all a good day to be a Yankee fan.
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
What a crazy game last night. Both bullpens were stellar. Thanks to shoddy Angels D the Yanks are in a worst case position to win just one on the left coast to come home up 3-2.
I grew up in Connecticut but moved to Philly in the 5th grade. I was a huge Yankees fan in Connecticut and still was for some years after moving to Philly, as there was no conflict with the two teams being in different leagues...but being a Yankees fan gradually wore off and I became a full fledged Philadelphia fan. However to this day, I still respect the Yankees and their great tradition of championships and stars.
That being said...I hope that "championship tradition" doesn't continue in 2009.
