bats have come to life, but whats up with the freakin bullpen
this really looks at times like a team just treading water waiting for arod to come back. He has been sliding without trouble on sliding pads and running great, so it may be sooner than expected, possibly much sooner
It also looks like Joba is settling in to his starter role, lets hope his arm holds up!
Like Dan said, patience is the key, just stay close while everything falls into place, this lineup is too potent to not do good things.
I hate to kick you guys while you're down, but a friend just sent me a story that outlined some of the off-the-field problems that the Yankees are having which included some of the lesser reported stories (i.e. not the empty seats and the A-Rod scandal).
It seems like this would be a challenging time to be a Yankee fan when these things are happening but kudos to those of you that can perservere:
Highlights: Security nearly causing a riot by not letting fans back into the ballpark when they incorrectly said that the game had been rained out. Networks believe the team is overcharging them to "park and power" their broadcast trucks. Paul O'Neil was booted from the underground batting cages by security. His wife was also booted from the "Yankee Wives" section. Stadium officials have had to sign gag orders. The Yankees are using jamming frequencies for walkie-talkies which means networks have to rent equipment from the Yankees instead of using their own. The team has flaked on its promise to help kids who lost their playing fields when the new stadium was built. Fans aren't allowed to move to better upper deck seats even during near-empty conditions like rain delays.

And yes, I'm enjoying the Yankees struggles, sweeping them in Fenway and then in King George Stadium was very enjoyable. I can only hope it continues, which I'm sure it won't. Were the shoe on the other foot, Yankees fans would be all over the Red Sox thread like white on rice...I'm just enjoying the moment. The team appears to be unable to pull together any substanital rally, and the obvious lack of high ticket seats going empty night after night at the new palace are surely grating on Yankee management. A big embarrassment if you ask me. Fenway Park? Sold out every night...EVERY night!!

No doubt you hope anyone with a drug problem can pull through and get it together as your talking about someones life where you throw rivalries ect.. out the window- I hope the woman turns out OK and wish nothing but the best for her as I would anyone with that problem. THAT BEING SAID however I feel that Joba is a perfect example of "you can take the guy out of the hood but you cant take the hood out of the guy" Joba is a complete PUNK, throwing at guys constantly, badmouthing arguably one of the most respected Yankees of all time ( Yogi Berra ) , the kid is a scumbag IMO and cant pitch a big game if his life depended on it, the Sox are hitting his junk so he loses his cool and throws at them- I guess he took a page from Afrauds playbook and likes to go bushleague when he isnt winning.
The yanks are not doing what they should be doing on paper so boo freaking hoo, the season is young and they can definately turn it around and be a winner- they are sure capable of it but until then I hope they continue to be a waste of a quarter billion dollars. Yup Im a Sox fan with no class.... Oh well.
<< <i>Paul O'Neil was booted from the underground batting cages by security. His wife was also booted from the "Yankee Wives" section. Stadium officials have had to sign gag orders. >>
WTF!?!?!? >>
Yep, here's the report from the Daily News:
"The latest episode came during the weekend series with the Angels. Paul O'Neill, a revered former Yankee, now an analyst for the Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network, was asked by security to leave the indoor batting cages, where he was watching Yankees hit, prior to one of the games.
A security guard told O'Neill, the man George Steinbrenner called "warrior," he could not loiter in the area. O'Neill had another reason to be perturbed. Security would not allow his wife, Nevalee, into the Stadium "wives room." She was told by security it was for "current" wives only.
Think about it. Here's O'Neill, a guy who bled for the franchise, trying to prepare for a broadcast. Not only is he told to take a hike, so is his wife."
God does this Yankee team have a miserable pen or what? I fear that if this sampling is what we'll see for the duration of the season, this will be a .500 club. A-Rod's bat will be welcomed, but I'm afraid this pen is an albatross that overshadows his potential contribution. Just a parade of bums from this pen. On the offensive side, it seems they are stranding an inordinate/alarming amount of runners this year. They just can't seem to get the clutch/situational hit. Sabathia has been oh so far from lights out it turns my stomach. The wackness that has been the 3B fielding makes me cringe; no depth. Molina is an automatic out. As a fan it's important to parse your hopes from your expectations. The geniuses who make this team's personnel decisions blinded most of the fanbase with three splashy free agent signings-- but the astute student of the game has to see glaring if not fatal flaws in this team. The signings made noise but the pen was weakened in the offseason, not strengthened. The pen was not a strength last year, and all that was done to it since was the removal of one of its strongest members: Joba. So a weak point was only exacerbated, and now their refusal to add a Putz for example is coming back to bite them. In the end I don't see what five starters giving you 6 IP and 3-4 R does for your team, if the pen inevitably enters and yields more runs. It demoralizes the offense as well. One final observation of this team: where is the sense of outrage and accountability on Girardi's part? He has Torre's ho-hum attitude about apathetic/inept play. "Oh well, it's early, these days happen." (I am paraphrasing.) April games count the same as August games, and these guys are gonna be in a hole soon if they don't get a kick in the rear. I for one prefer a manager who will call his team out and takes them to task. Stop making excuses for these millionaire headcases, Girardi. Make them run laps til they hurl every time they play like bums.
Edit: Tex, for 181 mil you get that guy in from 3rd with 1 out. When you consider what this team costs they are garbage right now. If this was a scrappy young bunch of cheap homegrown talent 13-14 would be acceptable.
<< <i>I know it as fact, the Yankee fans here never would act like you clowns have.

Sorry I know you have a million posts but that doesn't mean you know about the Sox/Yankees Rivalry. If you haven't seen the Yankee fans talking trash maybe you should look back to some older posts. Right now it's our turn but the tides always turn.
I will speak for myself and APOLIGIZE to the Yankee fans here. It was brought to my attention- by a friend and impartial bystander- that we are sorta ruining their thread. After giving it some thought I have to agree, Im all for bashing the Yankees but I guess the proper thing to do is start a seperate thread for it and respect the Yankee fans on the boards here, they are entitled ( As we are ) to enjoy their own thread without us filling it up with negativity.
I'll be glad to not post in this thread though I didn't think I did anything wrong. I wasn't the one saying a team's fans had no class. However this will be my last post in this thread.
2 very nice wins, maybe its finally starting to come together, i hope so, way too inconsistent so far this young season.
