If I remember correctly he purchases .999 bags of silver shot from APMEX or some other legit supplier and melts it down into bar form.

  • << <i>Is there any requirement to have assay records to back up the .999 fine claim? >>

As long as Phil keeps records of his Apmex purchases he should be fine..

The only issue you would have is when YOU decide to sell. If the buyer demands an assay record it would be up to you to provide.

Phil has covered his end by purchasing from a legit dealer with assay records on file for their silver shot.

But these are priced at investor bar pricing. So selling shouldn't be an issue anytime soon....

<< <i>That's cool, and I'll bet there's some satisfaction making those.
One question with the numbering, what type of change will there be after 20 of 20? >>

Great question! This particular size/shape combo will be limited to just 20 pieces total. If it is as successful as the 13-18 gram bar run I did 2 months ago, new sizes will become available to buy. I sold 88 of 94 of those smaller bars by the way. They were VERY popular among the forumites. >>

I can attest to that! image
Looking to buy Morgans in ACG, INS, IGA, Old PCI photo, and Hannes Tulving holders.
  • Someone just got a shipment from APMEX!image
  • Here is the package that came in the mail today. It was LIGHTNING quick!!! I didnt expect to receive my order until well into next week. Im at the firehouse tomorrow (making my engineer debut) so I will most likely make a pour video on Saturday afternoon. All bars should be set to ship by Wednesday at the very latest. I included MY cost on this shipment just to show im not the "rip-off" artist some of you are saying I am. The silver, delivered to my door, cost me $15.50/oz. To manufacture it into unique bars and resell at just $20/oz seems exceptionally reasonable to me.

if he got it that quick, then it would have had to been CC charged ...... that's really eating at your overhead.

I think the bars look ok - PM me how much you want for them - I'd like to get one or two if any available.

Yes, as a matter of conveinence I did charge to the CC. Normal S/H/I with a check payment is $20. So it cost me just $21 extra to avoid the hassles of mailing out a paper check. Plus the order comes much sooner via CC payment.
  • So far I have received payment on 7 of the 20 bars. I have 4 others im awaiting payment on and are being "reserved". Im keeping bar #1 for myself. So that leaves just 8 bars remaining. Once this issue is sold out, there wont be any more available through me. PM me with what you want before they are all gone! Pouring is expected to start on Saturday (with a video), and shipments are expected to start going out on Wednesday.

Hey Phil. What size bars are available?
  • They will all be 2.50 troy ounces.

  • << <i>Very cool bar, already got my order in. I don't know how dificult this would be but I think it would be cool if you could some how stamp the date each one was poured on the bar. >>

This could easily be accomplished, as well as improved uniformity, by sand casting. The sand is not grainy like beach sand, and can be packed into smooth, and detailed surfaces. Of course you'd probably want to pour more than a few grams to make it worthwhile. It would add another level of complexity, with more professional results, but I'm not sure Geck would want to put that kind of time/effort into something he does for a hobby, as it would add to his overhead.

Well, sir, do you have any of these bars still available? If so, I'd like a shot at some. The fact that they're being done by a forumite is intriguing!!

BTW, did you ever decide to date them as well?
