Everything the mint prints is meaningless. You'll know they shipped if they provide you with a tracking number. Even then, you may receive your order BEFORE the mint provides tracking info!

Salute the automobile: The greatest anti-pollution device in human history! (Just think of city streets clogged with a hundred thousand horses each generating 15 lbs of manure every day...)
I've had several emails from the Mint since ordering minutes after becoming available updating the ship date from 1/27 to 2/6, then 2/17, and again today to 2/18.
From the article: "The lack of technology prevented mass production on that coin. They made 29,000 of them but in the first 8 days 43,000 people placed an order." I'am hoping the first 29,000 orders receive the coin in February

Those 29,000 still have to go through quality control. Given the nature of the coin's multiple strikes, betcha the number of rejects is higher than average.

Just checked my order tonight, changed back to 2/06/09. My order number 30826xxx Maybe back on track?

Would be cool to get some sort of error coin... probably more likely given the complicated process.
Was also thinking that given the process that maybe MS69s and MS70s will be rare and that the average grades on these might be MS66-MS68. Unlike a common eagle bullion coin, would think it's harder to keep one of these perfect going through the production process...
Yes, yes. Hurry up on that stupid needless quality control. That's the way we do it. Shipping screwups, planchet shortages and manufacturing defects. Beautiful!!! A perfect storm for a high resale value, and a batch of errors and varieties!

From another article on the UHR sales: "During the first day of Ultra-High Relief sales alone, the Mint sold 28,173 UHR coins."
I guess all who got their orders in the first day should be getting the coins soon.
The United States Mint will accept orders beginning on January 22, 2009 at 12:00 noon (ET). Orders will be processed on a first-in, first-out basis, and could potentially take up to six to nine months to complete based on gold blank availability. When placing your order, please consider your credit card’s expiration date, as charges will coincide with shipment. If your credit card has expired by the time of shipment, your order will be cancelled. To update your credit card information, you must call 1-800-USA-MINT and have your order number available.
I ordered the new UHR 2009 Gold Coin 12 minutes after they went on sale. My status went from in stock and reserved on the first week. To last week to on hold. Still a ship date of 02/06/09 for the coin and 2/20/2009 for the book.
Now today I get my 3rd email and it states backordered to 03/06/09 for both the book and coin.

What is really odd is that reportedly the USMint has already sent out some of the earliest orders and yet yours would have been one of the earliest. Well, there goes the First Strike designation for anyone that ordered after 13 minutes.
I emailed PCGS regarding their First Strike designation if received within the first 30 days of release, and I received this reply today:
PCGS has yet to solidify a first strike cutoff date for this coin because of all the delays. They are going by when people are sent the first shipments which we don’t know at this point. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please call customer service at 1-800-447-8848.
<< <i>#3084XXX which was sitting at order status "on hold" but "in stock and reserved" went to order status "in process" tonight. >>
Let us know if it holds tomorrow morning! Also if you learn your credit card was charged that would be of note. Since many with orders prior to yours have yet to get the "in process" reporting, it may well be that the leap frogging of orders theory has some merit. Here is a link to the thread setting forth an explanation for the leap frogging of orders.
<< <i>And what is the estimated shipping date on your most recent email from the Mint? >>
I do not know. For some reason all my emails pertaining to this order are blank. I got Backorder emails on 1/27, 2/2 and 2/3. I have the proper title, just no text in the body.
I noticed an interesting change in wording on the mint website this morning. The UHR price is now $1289, but interestingly enough, it shows "Product is no longer available". Last week, the message in red was "Product is not available due to repricing" or something along those lines. Will it become available later this morning? Or will it be taken off the market for a bit while the mint tries to work throough the current backlog as well obtaining more planchets. We will soon know...
Edit: Naw, all the bullion related stuff have the same message. It's just the mint being its usual inconsistent self...
<< <i>What is really odd is that reportedly the USMint has already sent out some of the earliest orders and yet yours would have been one of the earlies >>
If you are referring to previous threads that indicated that, you do realize that those threads were made in jest. As far as I know, the Mint has not mailed out any UHR's ....
"Bongo drive 1984 Lincoln that looks like old coin dug from ground."
Well...mine is now In Stock & Reserved and due to ship tomorrow (2/6), however my CC hasn't been dinged and the cancel box is still there...so I'm not holding my breath!
Ya my CC doesn't even show as pending like it did almost immediately with all the other products that they never shipped and eventually canned...Order#30826XXX
I had 2 orders for the ASE's Unc (placed on Jan 6!!!) that were finally canceled (Frick!!!), but my UHR order now says: "In Process" after as recently as yesterday saying "Your Order Request Is On Hold"...
I guess that's progress. Ship date for the coin is still the 6th, but the book is out to the 20th.
the mint must've cut jobs in the IT department, they can't put anything up on a webpage with any coherency, can they? ...and whoever sold them their search engine should be shot, as should the mint's IT buyer.
my UHR dates both show 2/6 ship dates (coin/book), changed back from 2/18 or whatever it was, like others here.
I'm still wondering how any orders got/get through with the times being off, i.e. my central time zone order was logged at 12:28 AM (their time). I'm just waiting for them to cancel it, saying it was early.
I had one order for other stuff, actually made that same AM morning, that has already arrived. Don't I wish they all shipped together?!!!
I am going to check my 2 orders immediately after this post - I have an order # of 3084xxxx and 3083xxxx. The 3083xxxx was backordered to 3/17 but showed ship order date of 2/06 (book and coin) on the website with an "on hold" status. The 3084xxxx order showed a ship date to 2/06 (book and coin) with NO emails stating any push backs. The status was "on hold for that one also. I realize everyone is on pins and needles so here goes....... cya in 5 minutes!
30836xxx - I just went from ship date 2/06 to 2/20 minutes ago. The book still shows 2/06. I don't think I'll see the coin until March at the earliest, maybe April more likely...
Both the UHR and the the book just went from backorder with a 2/6 ship date to "In Stock and Reserved" within the past 5 minutes.. Let's see if it stays that way.
Update: 2009 ULTRA HIGH RELIEF GOLD COIN 1 $1,189.00 $1,189.00 In stock and reserved 2009 ULTRA HIGH RELIEF GOLD COIN BOOK 1 $0.00 $0.00 1 unit backordered. Expected to ship on 02/20/2009.

Now they changed the book again, within the last 2 minutes.

robec, let me explain.
My order number is way up there.
Why do I have a ship date of 2/06/09, while earlybirds are deep into February??
Does the Mint like me???
My order status is: On Hold
The expected delivery dates are going to bounce around and around.

Thanks for the "head up" ... I suppose some late commers will have to wait, as the MInt advertised, 6 - 9 month to get their order filled.
