Really nice color. MS 63, though knowing you, I really should say MS 58.

I can't see nuthin' under that corrosion stuff^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h TONING. I'll assume the thing on the cheek is toning and not a mark. Great strike. 65.

I'm not great at toned coins....sure looks UNC though. I'd venture a 63

    <wishing>

Wouldn't it be cool if some PCGS employed professional graders joined in on threads like these and gave their technical, professional opinions?
It would be very enlightening and would actually teach about technical grading as it is actually done.

  • I'll go 65 if that's a break in the toning on the cheek. I dig that color, nice!image

I would say techincally a MS63, but it gets 'mysteriously' bumped to a 64 because of the toning.

    Cool quarter!

Great looking coin! The reverse reminds me a bit of my 92-O (PCGS AU53):

Broadstruck...[ AKA: MR. AU 64 ] ...you're going to have to start posting images of MS coins
or everyone will just guess its an AU 58 from now on.

I agree with everyone - its a great looking coin.

image... I still like my two 58's - Ty. 1 & Ty. 2 just as well as your's.

I would have guessed MS65 proving I don't know this series at all.

    Thanks guys.

Only spot of rub I see is on the leaf over the ear. Could easily of made MS on the right day. Not my favorite series but would love to have that coin.

  • Nice looking quarter. Im TERRIBLE at guessing a grade on a coin, from a photo, with that much toning going on though. Best to leave grading that one in hand.

I'm terrible at these over XF45. I'll say AU58 image

The toning makes it difficult to determine, at least from those pictures, though rgCoinguy's slightly larger pic was a help.

I am assuming the mark on the cheek is on the plastic of a slab and not on the coin?

Could be anywhere from 58 to 64, for all I know.

Let me amend that. It is either a 58 or a 63-64.

Hahaha. I always respond to these threads without scrolling down to see that the grade has already been revealed.

In this case, I didn't embarrass myself too badly.

Nice coin. I was sort of lukewarm on the toning at first- I mean, I liked the original look, but it just didn't grab me. After subsequent looks, particularly at the slightly bigger pics, I can imagine that if I saw it in hand and were able to cartwheel some luster beneath that toning, I would be very impressed. It took me two or three glances, but I have decided that even from the pictures, I like it.

Edit to add: CoinJunkie's AU53 is also very handsome.
