nam812's HOF/Star signed rookies thread TTM & IP

nam812nam812 Posts: 10,539 ✭✭✭✭✭
Lately I have inspired by the many TTM gurus we have on these boards, so I figured since I have some HOF (and possible HOF) rookie cards in less than great shape, I'd send some out to be signed TTM. I sent my trimmed 1962 Topps rookie of Gaylord Perry out to him on December 31st, and just 10 days later it was back in my mailbox. I hope that fast service doesnt spoil me. Mike (thenavarro) is right, this is a lot of fun. I also want to give a big thank you to Rube for giving me a few addresses I asked for. I also sent to Ron Santo on Dec. 31st, and Bert Blyleven on Jan. 7th, so once those come back maybe I can give this thread some legs. Enjoy.

Edited to add more players to the list, and scans of my successes.

Nick, did he use two different pens? Perhaps one ran out? It looks like his first and last name were done with a different ink

I think because it's a blue background where he signed his last name it's giving the appearance of looking like a different ink.

Nick, do yourself a favor and give up now. After 2-3 more successes checking the mailbox everyday will become like crystal meth. You'll be thinking about it all day.

    NAM812,

Nice success. Don't catch the bug, it can get addicting. Gives you something to look forward to every day you go to the mailbox. You see that big brown envelope from a distance sticking out of the mailbox, and you have the anticipation of a small child when they see presents under the tree. Then you pull it out and you still wonder if it's signed/not signed, etc. If you need help on any addresses, let me know and I don't mind checking for you.

Best of luck and have fun!!

Funny that you said this my Santo's took 62 days - I think it was the holidays that slowed it down - he is normally much faster. I was hoping to have them back in time to sub on the PSA/DNA special.

Ain't that the truth Rube. I called them last week and they claimed they sent mine back already.

Nam812, in all seriousness, be careful sending nice vintage cards to Yogi. Both Rube and I have sent him nice cards and neither one of us has gotten them back despite paying the required fee, while success after success of other Yogi items (not vintage cards) has been posted on the various boards. It appears that mine and Rube's are the only ones AWOL. They claim they never got Rube's, but they got mine because they cashed the check a few weeks ago and I used delivery confirmation. Just a little coincidental that they were both vintage cards. Maybe Rube's was truly lost in the mail on the way there and mine was lost in the mail on the way back, but it just makes you wonder.

Santo is very easy just send to:

    Major Memories
    1140 South Webster
    Des Plaines, IL 60016

Each sig is $10 - great deal - I think Ron donates most of it JDRF.

When Rube gave me the address he said that Gaylord Perry required $15, so that's what I sent.

    1958 Topps Vada Pinson
    1960 Topps Willie McCovey

    1974 Topps Dave Winfield
    1975 Topps Robin Yount
    1975 Topps Jim Rice
    1975 Topps Keith Hernandez

    1978 Topps Eddie Murray
    1978 Topps Paul Molitor
    1979 Topps Ozzie Smith

Do any of you regular TTMers see any free signers on that list? Also, do you see any that are asking for a larger than usual donation?

Off the top of my head, Killebrew gets $50 per card through his foundation. Murray, Henderson, and McCovey don't sign TTM. I'll check on the others for you as I get a chance.

You might be able to get Maddux, but from memory, I don't think any of those others sign TTM. I could be wrong. It seems like I remember seeing Maddux for free on sportscollectors.net, but I'm not 100% sure. Are you a member of sportscollectors.net?

    Congrats on the Perry.
