I believe that the butt kissing letter I send has a lot to do with it.
I agree.I make it a point to ask them what their favorite career moment was.You would be surprised how many letters I get back with the player telling me about his favorite teammates and career moments. Mike
Since I only have 7 requests that are still outstanding (and hopefully being signed), I thought I would send out some more requests today. Here are the Topps rookie cards I sent out today:
Jim Palmer, Bucky Dent, Gary Carter, Bruce Sutter, Fred Lynn, Mark Fidrych, Tim Raines, Ken Griffey Sr., Ryne Sandberg, Jack Clark, Dave Parker, and Roger Clemens. I also resent to Goose Gossage with his $10 request.
I just don't know why i find a player asking for anything for his sig grimey as all hell when for all of those years in his career we basically pay their salary . . . us the fans .
I know it is done on a daily basis and people have no problem with it .
I just look at it through my lenses and if i were the player and a fan mailed me and asked for my sig , I would gladly do it for nothing , i would be so happy that someone acknowledged me after all of those years being out of the game .
I dunno, maybe it's just me , maybe i'm f'd up .
As F'd up as I am though, I'd do it for nothing gladly .
I'm wishing you a ton of success though Nick , I have aways had a fear of rejection so I am not one to ever ask for a sig, in person or in the mail , I wish I could be like that though, i really do because I'm enjoying watching you guy's stuff come rollin in and I wish it were me .
<< <i>Way to go Nick. That is one of my favorite cards of all time of one of the nicest and most down-to-earth guys the game has ever seen. >>
I was 8 going on 9 in 1976 when he was having his great season (and he didn't make his first start until about a month into the season). It was hard not to root for him.
Good Job Nick. Mark is/was a very cool dude that, at least in are area changed Baseball for a year or so, I remember it fondly a bunch of 11 -13 year olds talking to the ball and patting the mound down. Good Stuff.

Great job Nick!!!!! That Fidrych card you got back was one of my favorites as a kid. I even did a book report on him back in grade school when he was still a phenomenon.
Well 3 envelopes showed up today, but none were any good. Jack Clark came back RTS, Fred Lynn sent my card back unsigned (but sent a signed index card, and Dave Parker sent my card back unsigned because he wants money (aint happening).
I wonder if Lynn would sign a multi-signed item. I started a 75 Red Sox team ball that I'll post when it's back from Luis Tiant. It's going to Bill Lee next but that I was hoping for for Lynn. Was there any note with the index card?
Fred Lynn will only sign colored index cards. He is afraid of identity theft . He will never ever sign anything other then the index card even if you send money
Bill "Spaceman" Lee is quite the character , He always leaves unique notations with his auto
A collector of all things Braves Always looking for Chipper Jones cards. Im a very focused collector of cards from 1909 - 2012...LOL

Wow. Identity theft? From a baseball card? Ummm, a little paranoid I'd say.
On the bright side Nick, I bet you could commission Doran to make a nice custom cut auto for you with the index card...so maybe all isn't lost
Fred Lynn signed anything at the Fan Fest this year. I got him on 2 baseball cards with inscriptions. $20 for Parker is alot.

Rube, we should do a test. You should send him one of your American Flag index cards. I'd be curious if he pre-signed a bunch of index cards and is just mailing them or if he would sign yours.

It's almost come to a grinding halt Brian. I know all the other TTM guys say be patient when waiting for returns, but it stinks to have such a dry spell. Hopefully there will be some updates soon.

Yeah, the note said "It took me longer to find an index card and sign it than it would have to just sign your card that was right in front of me."
Just kidding, no note.
