From the Eliasberg collection. I know of three pieces, but there could be another couple of them out there somewhere.

I won a CAR 1/2 E with a costa rica CS from the Eliasberg collection a year or so ago. Your coin is a beauty!!

Not if you share my view that this is what the end of our hobby looks like - computer-assisted die transfer copies with modified / re-engraved elements struck on correct period planchets. And we'll be there soon enough, unless every private minting operation is forced by law to place it's mint-mark on every token they produce with failure to do so resulting in confiscation of presses / dies and charges being laid.

And the date isn’t even a pattern date, but a total fantasy date.

    Is it edge lettered?

What do you think the date was of the host coin he scanned originally before changing it to 1907?

Happy Thursday. I found this little treasure at Great Collections. No other than an 1823 Mo 2 reales for Augustin, and MS64 no other. Very difficult coin, and happily, not that expensive (perhaps the venue?). Very happy...

That is a nice pickup 👍

@Abuelo hope that white stuff on the obverse is nothing serious.

Here are a few small recent additions. All still in transit.

  • AbueloAbuelo Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭✭✭

@TwoKopeiki just different toning, nothing bad.

    Nice 8R!

"The key date, and virtually impossible In MS. This one conservatively graded 62, most likely knocked at least a point for the weak strike. Not necessarily wrong, but it may not exist any better."
Have you seen (or own) the 1896 OMS Cu NGC PF64? I have not.

Thanks! To be honest, I think this is a good example of a TrueView juicing it a bit on the reds. The previous NGC Photo Vision images are a bit closer to what it looks like in hand:
