This game was not very good, but thankfully my Phillies only have a bad game like this every once in awhile...over a 162 game season even the best teams in MLB history have had a few lousy games during their World Series championship season. Phillies should rebound tomorrow and we're still on track to win it all.
Yes, the Phillies will pickup some pitching help - there is no doubt about that.

Lemme analyze this for a few moments...Okay, yes, according to the "standings", the Phillies are 3 1/2 games better than the Mets, or don't Mets fans want to believe that those "standings" are accurate?
That's right...I took out my calculator and double checked the math on my computer software program, and meticulously figured that with the Phillies now having a 3 1/2 game lead against the Pets, by the end of the season the lead should be approximately 7 games.
8-0 in the third...boy, the Sillies are worse than I thought!!

The fact that Jerry hasn't quoted any Aesop's Fables recently, tells me that he doesn't really believe his Mets have a good chance of winning the NL East. When he has confidence, that's when the Aesop's Fables analogies start showing up in almost every one of his posts. LOL
And the lead keeps dwindling...only a matter of time now, the Sillies are hoping against hope that the MLB players union will call a work stoppage at the All Starr Break thereby preserving their slim to nothinglead...
In an unlrelated story, SteveK was last seen mumblinmg to himself the theme song "Meet the Mets" and laughing maniacally when he got to the part "East Side, West Side, Everybody's Coming Down..."

This fable sums up rather well how Sillie fans have been waiting for the inevitable to occur, that is, waiting for the Mets to seize the division lead. A rather obscure, though fitting fable for Steve's pleasure:
A traveler about to set out on a journey saw his Dog stand at the door stretching himself. He asked him sharply: "Why do you stand there gaping? Everything is ready but you, so come with me instantly." The Dog, wagging his tail, replied: "O, master! I am quite ready; it is you for whom I am waiting."
And this haiku I just came up with:
Let Wright and company lead the way To posteason play During this, our last season at Shea.

Now I'm getting a little bit worried...not a lot worried, just a little bit.
I'm not sure what's going on with the Phillies bats. We're losing games that we clearly should be winning.
Still in first place though. Phillies need to get back that timely hitting and that wll happen...only a question of when.
Isn't this the same sorry Cards team that we dropped several touchdowns on last month? WTF is going on here? Cole gives up 4 hits and get a loss? That just isn't right. Chuck needs to light a fire under some guys A**ES.

May have to bring in Dallas Green.
I'm not looking for 20 runs, I'll take 2 or 3 runs right now!!
I don't give a chit if my Phillies win the NL East by a nose, head, neck, 1/4 length, 1/2 length, 3/4 length or ten lengths or 31 lengths...as long as they are in first place after 162 games and right now the Phillies are in first place...
Ryan Howard mashing again when we needed him too. You have to like AJ Happ too tonight. Got some breaks and piched 6+ innings of shutout ball. This is the closest the Marlins and Mets will come!
The Sillies have been playing 350 ball the last month. The Mutts and or marlins will be in first place shortly and the sillies will be playing Atlanta for 4th place. hell even the Nationals win a game every once in a while.
I don't hear the resident sillies fanatic chirping anymore, what's up with that?
