This game was not very good, but thankfully my Phillies only have a bad game like this every once in awhile...over a 162 game season even the best teams in MLB history have had a few lousy games during their World Series championship season. Phillies should rebound tomorrow and we're still on track to win it all.

Yes, the Phillies will pickup some pitching help - there is no doubt about that.

Old man Moyer was beating you all until the pen wrapped one up for you.

What?? lol, What game were you watching? The Mutts were winning 3 to zip into the 4th inning!

In the bottom of the 4th the sillies got 3 runs!

Geez Kevin do you ever say anything that has the truth to it?

    Steve
    Good for you.

Sillies starting to fold like a cheap tent...Won't be long now before the Mets blow right by these pretenders!!

    Florida 45 43 .511 2½ 26-20 19-23 19-14 11-10 10-9 5-5 W 1

    Phillies still looking good.

Marlins hanging in there for second.

Pets finally make it to .500

    Braves are basically done.

Lemme analyze this for a few moments...Okay, yes, according to the "standings", the Phillies are 3 1/2 games better than the Mets, or don't Mets fans want to believe that those "standings" are accurate?
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
3.5 games with about 75 to play. lol get a grip buddy.

    Good for you.

<< <i>3.5 games with about 75 to play.

    Steve >>

That's right...I took out my calculator and double checked the math on my computer software program, and meticulously figured that with the Phillies now having a 3 1/2 game lead against the Pets, by the end of the season the lead should be approximately 7 games.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Funny but I did the math too and the Mutts will be leading the Sillies by 10 at that time.

8-0 in the third...boy, the Sillies are worse than I thought!!

I love how quiet it gets here when the Sillies lose and are exposed as the pretenders they are!

SteveK must be on his nightly walk to the Rocky Balboa statue...

Don't worry Steve, football season is right around the corner!

And you and Kevin can watch the Eagles together on your big screen...oh wait, Kevin is a bandwagon Yucs fan, my bad...

It's July 8th and we're still in first place - that's all that matters.

    Philadelphia 48 42 .533 - 23-21 25-21 17-14 15-11 12-6 5-5 L 3
    Florida 46 43 .517 1½ 26-20 20-23 19-14 11-10 11-9 5-5 W 2
    N.Y. Mets 45 44 .506 2½ 22-18 23-26 18-16 6-8 12-14 6-4 W 3
    Atlanta 42 48 .467 6 30-18 12-30 16-19 9-16 9-6 3-7 L 1
    Washington 34 56 .378 14 18-26 16-30 14-21 10-17 2-8 3-7

Phillies will rebound - this Phillies team has tremendous heart which Mets fans don't understand yet.

I just checked the sportsbook odds of this happening - they are offering a million to one for this wager...you may want to contact them and get a bet down of a dollar so you can possibly be a millionaire "before the week is out"

The fact that Jerry hasn't quoted any Aesop's Fables recently, tells me that he doesn't really believe his Mets have a good chance of winning the NL East. When he has confidence, that's when the Aesop's Fables analogies start showing up in almost every one of his posts. LOL
  • grote15grote15 Posts: 29,698 ✭✭✭✭✭
And the lead keeps dwindling...only a matter of time now, the Sillies are hoping against hope that the MLB players union will call a work stoppage at the All Starr Break thereby preserving their slim to nothinglead...

In an unlrelated story, SteveK was last seen mumblinmg to himself the theme song "Meet the Mets" and laughing maniacally when he got to the part "East Side, West Side, Everybody's Coming Down..."

This fable sums up rather well how Sillie fans have been waiting for the inevitable to occur, that is, waiting for the Mets to seize the division lead. A rather obscure, though fitting fable for Steve's pleasure:

A traveler about to set out on a journey saw his Dog stand at the door stretching himself. He asked him sharply: "Why do you stand there gaping? Everything is ready but you, so come with me instantly." The Dog, wagging his tail, replied: "O, master! I am quite ready; it is you for whom I am waiting."

And this haiku I just came up with:

Let Wright and company lead the way
    To posteason play
During this, our last season at Shea.

Now I'm getting a little bit worried...not a lot worried, just a little bit.

I'm not sure what's going on with the Phillies bats. We're losing games that we clearly should be winning.

Still in first place though. Phillies need to get back that timely hitting and that wll happen...only a question of when.

Isn't this the same sorry Cards team that we dropped several touchdowns on last month? WTF is going on here? Cole gives up 4 hits and get a loss? That
just isn't right. Chuck needs to light a fire under some guys A**ES.

May have to bring in Dallas Green.

I'm not looking for 20 runs, I'll take 2 or 3 runs right now!!

I don't give a chit if my Phillies win the NL East by a nose, head, neck, 1/4 length, 1/2 length, 3/4 length or ten lengths or 31 lengths...as long as they are in first place after 162 games and right now the Phillies are in first place...

...and the stinkin' Mets ain't. Ha! Ha! Ha!
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
lol, of course you don't mind............

However I would think a 'say goodbye to the first place Sillies' thread will soon be in order.

    Say Goodbye Steviek

    your team is folding fast!

    LMAO

Ryan Howard mashing again when we needed him too. You have to like AJ Happ too tonight. Got some breaks and piched 6+ innings of shutout ball. This is the
closest the Marlins and Mets will come!

  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
The Sillies have been playing 350 ball the last month. The Mutts and or marlins will be in first place shortly and the
sillies will be playing Atlanta for 4th place. hell even the Nationals win a game every once in a while.

I don't hear the resident sillies fanatic chirping anymore, what's up with that?

Millions upon millions of dollars for a guy who is what ? 8 wins and 7 losses !
Remember, this is the same team who paid millions upon millions of dollars for a declining Pedro Martinez.
You can keep 8-7 animals in the Bronx zoo instead of on the pitching mound.

Yeah he is 8 and 7, did you forget that he had 5 straight ND in which he should have won them?

That would have made him 13 and 7 which is 650 winning pct. Which by the way is his lifetime winning pct 101 and 51

And in case you didn't know he is all of 28 years old.

WinPitcher - Question for ya because I've heard many knowledgeable baseball fans state that you're a baseball history genius, and I've got a bad memory from too much drinking and gambling and other bad habits over the years...What was the Phillies game winning margin against the Mets last season when the Phillies won the NL East? Thanks for your help.
