SMR or Star rookies more important? >>
Hi,
I edited my post to cover this question. I don't mind other sports but my knowledge of cards is mostly with baseball.

i think journeys like these keep the boards lively and helps promotes trading, which i'm always in favor of. it's more fun to trade then buy i think. you find out that someone else wants what you have and my have what you need. it's a lot harder then just buying what you want.
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started

It's really absurd that anyone is giving Jay here grief about doing nothing more than posting about a card he's offering up to trade. And he may be new to the boards, but I'd hope that his service in Iraq ... for what, 3 years? ... would help make up the difference and afford him more respectful treatment.

Yeah - you should wait - oh...um...at least a year or two -
C'mon guys give me a break - are you really trying to micromanage something cool he is trying to do - Do you have to be the first? Elemen(whatever) was not even the first with the idea - but look what he has done...
Quite a bit of impatient, unsupportive people lately on the boards - what a shame -
Good Luck to you !!
PM sent !!

Don't take it the wrong way , I just think in terms of time and effort .
Seems like a lot of work involved for you guys , for me time and effort =$$, but that is just how I see it .

I hear you, but we also have a trade forum if all he is looking for is a simple trade.
I commend him on his service, but I am not sure what that has to do with this thread or its content.
<< <i>I commend him on his service, but I am not sure what that has to do with this thread or its content. >>
It doesn't have anything to do with this thread or content. It has to do with the absurdity of you or anyone else calling him out as some kind of newbie who hasn't paid his dues.

There's nothing absurd about it at all. You don't have to agree with me-- and that's perfectly fine-- but I think these kinds of threads are best started by people who have already established a presence and personality on the boards. One of the reasons people are rooting for you is because they feel as though they 'know' you, in a roundabout way. If you were just some guy who washed over from the Beckett boards do you think people would be nearly so willing to take a financial hit on a straight up trade?
I certainly don't hold this against the OP (he seems like a nice guy), and if he decides to go ahead with it then I'll wish him luck with it. But there are times, for all of us, when our enthusiasms (however well intended) trump our sense of propriety, and it seems to me like this is one such occasion.
all I can suggest is don't trade with him, and thanks for your advice.
I really do not see the problem if a person has 1 post or 12,000
posts you either are honest or not.
Gary had thousands of posts.
The last Pete Rose guy had 6 years here.
Sometimes it seems we lose focus on what really is important.
This thread is not one to get worked up over.
Steve

WELL SAID

But, I'm with the group who say - good luck.
And, more importantly - Happy Easter!
I find these types of threads interesting, and welcome anybody credible enough to follow through on trades to post away. The fact that he is a veteran of a foreign war is nice, but not a difference maker for me.
Best of luck to the OP, and good, earnest debate by all board members.

Guy seems to catch on awfully quick duddn't he?
posts you either are honest or not."

I was thinking the exact same thing , I don't feel a post count is important ,
I think If I were to read something to suggest I should have a certain number of posts before I could make a certain move , I would feel a certain amount of prejudice .
It would not make me feel good especially if my intentions were on the level .

Thank you, Pete14Rose, for serving your country. We have a lot of vets here on the boards... perhaps that is one of the reasons this is such a great community.
