I've always loved that shot of Marichal in the '63T set -- the color combinations, the angle of the shot, the lighting -- it all fits together so well.

    Sweet '63s!

Great looking '63's. I love that set. Haven't made much progress on my '71 set lately, but I have managed to pick a few up along the way. Will post some more '75s later.

I pulled this from a pack in 1992 - sure would like to have this in a '53.

For a bit, this set was really hot - now ya could probably get a whole box for 20 bucks?

One of the basic tenets of the baseball card manufacturers business: Less is NEVER better.

So, if someone produces a die cut? Lets produce a zillion of them!

    image

I did kind of like them.

die cut fever hit for awhile in my household as well....I'll have to dig them out.

    Doug,

Your '63's may not be Mint, but they sure look great.

    Don,

Each group of '71's you post looks nicer than the one before. You're going to have an amazing set.

Brett - Thanks for the kind words. I have a ton of EX condition '71s too, but my plan was to build an avg EX - EX/MT set and upgrade to NM one over a number of years. I've been lucky to pick up quite a few NM ones along the way. I imagine I'll have a couple sets when all is said and done.

Here's a nice Mick card from the 60T set - but it definitely has too much ink - would probably get a qualifier.

    Got these 2 days ago.
    Centering and corners and great.
My 3 in 1 scanner is horrible and has a mind of its own.
    Will eventually sub.

    Bryan - those are sweet!

Good luck on the sub - don't want to jinx it with a guess on the grade - but they look perfect.

I posted these when I bought the game - I got a complete set of them - this color variation is a bit more scarce than the blue.

1913 Lajoie Game Card - from the BB game.

It's interesting how one card could so much more toned in the same set of cards.

You think so Mike? I think is might escape a qualifier if you're only talking that roller mark at the top. Nice looking card

Mike - Great looking '76 Brett. You don't find that card centered like that very often.

I got back to scanning some of my '75 set in again. Here's a couple scans:

The scanner's being kind to the card Doug - it has a nice blue haze to the entire card.

  • Can't wait to get in in my Banks registry... got it for $35 on the Bay. it does have a mild crease from top to bottom just behind his back. I'm hoping for a PSA 4. Not sure if that's wishful thinking...?

Exactly Mike - it's going into my type set. I've already got a yellow one...now I'll just have to wait until a red or blue Taft Wright surfaces image

Bought it years ago from a grand gentlman Mr. Hoppenworth ...

Decided it was time for it to see the light.

    Thanks for the praise.

  • Let me first say, those '71 basketball cards are amazing! Absolute gems! My '69 set lacks in high quality but I just put these up today for the first card #1 Batting Leaders I just received yesterday from Neal (leadoff4) here on the board. A thanks to him for a great looking card. Great stuff today folks, take care. Doug

    those are tall boy 69s!!!

i had over 75% of white letter variations in psa 8 or better once upon a time,
but 70s cardboard quickly became my addiction.

seaver is a beast of a card that year too, very nice centering.

If you want to part with any let me know...I still need about 25 cards to complete my set. I could $$ for them or trade. PLMK!

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. • Have to love the clean look of the '64 set. Kaline and Brooks Robby have a few marginal corners but centering is good on those boys. The bottom four are the best, if I may say so myself. Have a good weekend. Doug

fresh off the presses....bought two packs at my local target...not vintage but maybe some of you haven't seen the new one's yet. The Pujols and Porcello are the base cards, the two black bordered cards are for an online function you can do and the other four are all inserts....don't know if I hit the motherload on the packs but there were two inserts in each pack.

  • Speaking of modern cards, I was going through some 2001 All Star stuff this week which was here in Seattle. Although the Randy Johnson card creeps me out a little, I love the Ichiro card and it was also the picture on the press pass we were given which was an added bonus. One of my favorite press passes.

Not much to post this week. If I get bored I'll post some more 75's later. I did pick up this nice '71 Simmons RC for my set today:
