I realize you're having fun with me, and I appreciate. It makes this fun for me. I didn't notice that about Blue's signature. I like that answer! You get full credit and are my honorary "Collector of the Day."
I noticed that you have very few over a good period of time. Here's a shameless plug for those who aren't familiar with Bill. He is one of the better eBay sellers and has helped my collection tremendously with great service and GENEROUS contributions, as well as helping many other collectors. One of the hobbies true gentleman.
I usually have nothing exciting to add to this thread but feel these two are worthy. Both came from a forum user. The Carlton had a ton of wax on the front. Took about 20 minutes to get the wax off with the pantyhose trick. Of course 10 minutes of that was trying to get the pantyhose off. Both are going in on the March special.
Nice cards today guys! LSU-Bill inspired me with those great 78's. This was the first year that I bought baseball card packs. This Reggie is one of my favorites.
Editted to add that this Reggie card is of the Topps persuasion.
Love those OPC's! I want to show a little love to 80's as well - very underrated card designs came out of that decade IMO. Here are some 83's, one of my favorite designs of all time. Nevermind that they may not be worth much - I just love the cards for what they are!
<< <i>Brett, On your first grouping of '71 pitchers, also Vida Blue was the only Cy Young award winner in the group I believe.
Beautiful cards by the way. Very sharp!

Rich,
Thanks. I'm glad you like the cards. You are correct about Vida Blue. Man oh man, I have to be more careful when grouping cards for these mystery themes. It's a good thing for me that I don't offer a prize for the correct answer, otherwise I may have no cards left!
Wow, I didn't realize that Wacky Packages went as far back as 1967. I saw my first Wacky Package in 1974 or '75 and thought they were a hot new item. When I was a kid I thought they were pretty funny, now some seem to be in poor taste. Nice cards, by the way.
Here are a few 77s I have picked up recently. Both Garveys are nice though they do have the dreaded ink mark across the left hand side. I think most 77 Garveys have this defect but not all. I have a nice PSA 9 that doesn't have it. Most of these came from vending butI think I purchased the Harrah raw on Ebay.
Brett, I don't know about those 72's but I'll think about it. Here are some football cards I have that I think are particularly sharp. Lanier is not centered well and Unitas is nothing notable. But, I like them.
Tounge-in-cheek (sorta) question regarding your football cards: What's wrong with that picture?
Answer: Pearson should be in the HOF like the rest of those guys. That's not just a Cowboy fan talking. Pearson put up solid numbers year in and year out, and came up huge time and again in the big games.

True, he is the only one wearing glasses, but that's not what I had in mind. Remember, to get credit for a correct answer you must think like me.

k, how 'bout no team letter on hat.
<< <i>Bahnsen.....PINSTRIPES! >>
A valid answer, but not the correct one. A little hint: It has nothing to do with the players pictured.
Brett,

All the others have the left field corner of the stadium seats in background

having some fun with you here.
several variables available to this puzzle, another being the "signature" of Vida Blue, which is the only non-cursive of the group.
Yes, This is Bill
Just trying to get my post count up.
