Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I am very curious about the "do not spend" note. In the mid 1980s, my father got a fair amount of old currency which was originally from his father, who passed away ten years earlier. He got it from a number of family members who emigrated from what is now Belarus and had apparently kept these notes for several generations in case of an emergency. The latest date was 1928, the the earliest was 1908. All were the old large bills. There were at least 20 brown English pound notes, a $5 silver certificate from 1914 and various gold certificates.
Grandpa Joe saved these notes because he was trying to get some of his family members to emigrate from the Old Country in the 1930s, but found no takers at the time. Dad wound up selling them to Abner Kreisberg, who was one of the "big fish" in the coin business in the Los Angeles area at the time.
Many years later, my dentist discovered that I was a coin collector and told me that Abner Kreisberg was his uncle!
