Salute the automobile: The greatest anti-pollution device in human history! (Just think of city streets clogged with a hundred thousand horses each generating 15 lbs of manure every day...)
Hi.. fine.. let'em shill away.. i'll sell mine when they hit $10,000.00 ..
not possible?.. "Jackie Robinson"..
anyone watching the precious metals market today?.. Gold took another huge dump, but Platinum is still going up.. close to $1500/oz now.. explain that..
Thanks Harv >>
just gave you a possible answer as to why that ONE sold for $2900, that's all. you were asking as if someone had to be a numbnutz to buy it @2900 (my impression from your post) and that was the best i came up with, considering all the jack-hype with the Jefferson Liberty first spouse gold coins
This platinum two-coin set features a one-half ounce proof coin, and a one-half ounce enhanced reverse proof coin. The proof version of the American Eagle Platinum Coin features a cameo image floating on a mirror-like background, and the first-time offered enhanced reverse proof version of the American Eagle Platinum Coin features a frosted background and an enhanced brilliant, mirror-like finish on the raised elements of the coin. The American Eagle 10th Anniversary Platinum Coin Set is presented in an elegant hardwood box with a mahogany finish and adorned with a silver foil on the domed lid. The box is highly lacquered, rubbed and buffed to a gloss finish. The coins are exhibited on a specially designed wood platform angled to display the coins when the box is opened. The American Eagle 10th Anniversary Platinum Coin Set is limited to only 30,000 sets; order yours before they’re all gone!
***The Mint has run out of 2007 gold, silver and platinum American Eagles for its distribution network so the November numbers are it for the year.***
Not sure I understand that statement. Seeing as he talks about the distribution network, I'm assuming he means the regular bullion coins, not the "w" ones. Those are still listed as available on the Mint's website, which would confirm that interpretation.

That is correct, no more 2007 dated bullion according to the article. The November sales totals are the reported figures until the final 2007 bullion mintages are determined.

Do we all believe that this coin in the Reverse Proof will be any value in years to come?
Even if they do sell 30,000 sets there are only 30,000 Plat/PR coins in the world for the 10th Anniversary set. Also Plat is the most expensive and rarest metal right. Just a vision. Yaha
Thanks rbalderman1! Yeah, I believe there was one or three persons ahead of me using the "enhanced" mouse and dial-up version of my system. Maybe next year.
Now, the $1,000,000 question is will this set have a chance of increasing in value other than the value of platinum with a mintage of 30,000? Think about it. Is there really more than 30,000 people collecting the platinum eagles as a series or are the purchasers flippers or the collectors who just wants this one set? Frankly, it seems to me if a collector wants a set, he will get it by ordering from the mint. That leaves the flipper who will dump these on the market causing the price to go down. Ten years from now, I don’t see these sets being worth much more that the melt price of platinum, as I don’t believe there will be much of a demand for them.
I'm (no longer)annoyed (nor) unsettled. I changed my mind and bought a set.
With so many great coins coins I can buy with $2K; another MPL, another MP Buffalo, a 1937 PCGS Pr66 Type II Buffalo listed with Anaconda, a 1918/7-D Buffalo on eBay in a PCGS VG06 holder with another $700 left over from the $2K I had to think long and hard ~ 5 minutes. I don't like the new reverse. It looks like a token or a low end medallion and is missing the regal and majestic portrayals that have graced the reverse on previous emmissions. I do love the look of reverse proofs though.
I can still cancel. I canceled my order for Dolly Spouse gold and haven't regretted it. Same may happen here, Dump and run? I dunno. I'll let you know.
Order # 2749xxx @ 7:32pm in Sunny, AZ.
Best regards,

OK. For grins, I dropped in an order at 8:31 PM EST at # 27490xxx.
I'm guessing about 90% of those "hits" are for the plats which would put the total at close to 20K.
